If by policeman wage you mean low wage playing poker, it's the opposite.

Re: How to Be Happy as a Live Pro

Vs the same guy I stacked $850 deep last night...

Hero (400) opens 25 UTG, villain (600) calls in BB
Flop 52: KQ4dd
Check, we bet $30, v raises to $90, hero 3b to $250, villain shoves, hero calls and we scoop $800-900 vs Q4o

Think this guy might go jump off a bridge...

I love it. It's so brilliant. Every hand since he's opened to 6x and barreled thrice. Now we wait!

Ideally, read it all. Along with excellent strategy insights/an engaging writing style, DGAF is the GOAT when it comes to "being a pro" in live poker--crafting a fun table presence, getting whales to bumhunt you, making the games good. He (and other crushers) weigh in on topics that have been discussed itt: should you seat- and table-hop? Make villains table hands at showdown? Wear a backpack at the tables? etc.

If you want Cliffs, you could get away with reading the beginning, the last 20 pages or so, and his post on The Abyss.

Re: How to Be Happy as a Live Pro

Daily Update - Wed 13/09/17

Hours Played: 6
Profit: $279

Notes: Reeeally should have played longer today since we're way behind on this week's volume but not too fussed because it was a casino game and that's always going to be slow and high rake - so if I'm going to put in shorter sessions, I want it to be at the casino. 4/4 wins this week so far, one more session tomorrow.

I've also got a $500 freeroll lined up for tomorrow I'll tell you all a bit more about in tomorrow's week recap. Hands wise, nothing too interesting. Got AQs in vs QJo pre for $250 and lost.

Also there was a guy spazzing out, opening every hand after I stacked him, he opens UTG $25, call, hero overcalls with KTs - I don't think this is a great spot because there's so many players to act after us and it's soooo different compared to ATs. Anyway, some shorty ended up shoving after a couple more callers for $100 and I couldn't call obv. Felt like torching money. Think the bottom of my overcalling range there should be mostly pairs and nut flush draws. So folding KTs/QTs/QJs/KJs maaaaybe we can call w KQs but realistically it's in the same boat as KTs.

Start of the homegame stint Thurs-Sunday begins tomorrow. I'm extremely excited to GTFO the casino. GL ME.

Full Results: https://onedrive.live.com/view.aspx?...7C8876B842!334 - Graph's ****t, I'll try fix it maybe in a month or two or in 500 hour intervals.

Sorry for the confusion, just meant to say that he was making over 6 figs and was still unhappy, which is what makes the thread such a great read. (assuming the policeman wages comment was directed at the thread, which maybe it wasn't. )

Ooh true! Yeah It just kinda seemed that if one wasn't overly happy on the baller wage, one would want to neck themselves on the policeman wage is what I was getting at. I will read more of it though. Ty for the GL!

Mate in all honesty it's just this fekking OneDrive bull****. It was working fine a week ago but now you can't actually put a graph in at all. I'll prob have to fix it up in Excel and then copy it over. We'll get there eventually though!

Re: How to Be Happy as a Live Pro

Daily Update - Thur 14/09

Hours Played: 8.1
Profit: $820

Notes: Did the best "bluff" of my life tonight lol...

Hand 1

Folds couple limps, folds to hero in SB who completes w QTss, BB raises $20, hero calls.

Flop $45: 32Jss
Check, villain bets $25, hero raises to $85, villain raises to $150 (has about 200 behind), hero jams, villain FOLDS AJ face up... Apparently we just HAVE to have a set here - our image works nice for us here :') We ran it out and he'd have won too. :')

Hand 2

BTN (200) opens $20, hero in SB calls w KQdd, fold. I don't really want to 3bet at this stack depth.
Flop $45: K23hh
Check, BTN cbets $45, hero calls.
Turn $135: 5hhh
Check, villain jams for $130, hero ???

Notes: Think this is an EXCELLENT example of picking the lower variance route. I'm faaaairly indifferent to calling and folding vs this villain - feel like his sizing is kinda maybe him overplaying something... we have a preeetty strong hand but the fact of the matter is, it's close and I'm indifferent - so in this situation, we should ALWAYS look for the lowest variance route and keep that stdev down. I know there are many many much better spots to print money vs this villain too...

Hand 3

Hero isos over 5 limpers in BB w AA to $27, SB calls.
Flop $65: T96hh
Check, I reeeeally actually want to check this one back here but decide with two black cards we can't and need to bet. We bet $35, villain check raises to $70, we decide we can't fold yet and peel.
Turn $205: 3hhh
Villain bets $75, ugh... not much we're beating - mayyyybe occasionally they play some weird TPTK/TPGK hand this way but I decided just to muck here. There's no good river for us and are just in a terrible spot - so may as well "reduce the variance" by putting less money into the pot.

================================================

Weekly Review - 08/09 - 14/09

Hours Played: 33.4
Profit: $2,678

Notes: 5/5 Wins this week! Yeeeww! Results-wise, this week was awesome. Everything else-wise, not so great. Was tracking my finances up until the weekend where I went a little more HAM than I needed to. That lead to an extra cheat meal which essentially lead to a whole week of binge eating out basically every day. Kinda let it slip but totally cool if I do this every once in a while - I will not beat myself up about it. But it's certainly time to pull it back in and get back on track re the spending, the gym, and the diet.

Also today had a friend come over - runs a sports betting rink and signed me up to a bunch of sports books to take advantage of sign up bonuses. Basically, they ship a bunch of capital into my bank account, I rego the sites under my name, their bettor makes the bets and in 7-10 days, I get $400-$500 and send them the excess profit. Basically it's a $500 freeroll for 2 hours work this afternoon. So essentially that makes this week 6/5 winning sessions!?!??

So for the forthcoming week:

[ ] - GYM DISCIPLINE
[ ] - TRACK EXPENSES
[ ] - MAX ONE CHEAT MEAL
[ ] - REEL IT TF IN THIS WEEK
[ ] - 45 HOURS

Basically, want to get back into a routine. Get up, gym fasted, then make some food and head to the game. That's it. No partying (decent chance I'll be ALMOST conned into going out tomorrow night but I'm going to avoid that), no nights off, just a disciplined week and some decent volume to make up for this week's ****ty volume. Only two weeks left in the month for me so I really need to push hard here and get a solid penultimate week in!

Also tonight I've arranged for a 1/2PLO/2/5NLH rotation game for Monday next week - this is awesome because last two weeks I've ended up having to go to the casino instead of playing at homegames which is pretty -EV. These guys are fairly keen to play some PLO and I'm happy to as well @ these stakes. So really shouldn't have too much issue getting the 45 hours in.

GL all for your forthcoming weeks and may the heat be witcha!

good stuff bro
dont really get hand 1 tho,QTs is raise from SB imo, also 33 and 22 raise pre so ur basically only repping JJ and 5s4s? Also what are you trying to get him to fold?

QTs I absolutely will never raise here. Admittedly, I play a somewhat different preflop strategy to most but the way I see it is, we're SB - so we're always going to be OOP. Secondly, we just don't garner much fold equity in live games so normal case scenario really is this hand goes 3-4 way and then we've essentially got a pot way larger than it needs to be, we're going to miss most of the time, and on the boards we can "bluff" we run into terrible issues on turns and rivers given the average stack size in this game. I fully get most people will be raising here but I'm experimenting with not doing so as a means for "beating" the largely overlooked multiway aspect of live games.

33 and 22 is most definitely not a raise pre for the same reason. Except these hands would be worse raises because they play exceptionally poorly post.

Quote:

I don't see how I can rep JJ pre since THAT is the only hand you've mentioned I WOULD raise pre with. :')

Quote:

Anything he cbets flop with that missed? AK/AQ/smaller pairs etc? FWIW I didn't see the green chips in this guy's stack so had no idea he had so much behind, thought he had maybe 175 max on the flop. I have great equity vs TJ type hands and decent enough fold equity to raise the flop imo.

Thanks man, feel like I'm really improving some stuff preflop and bleeding less chips overall. Might just be that I'm running half decently but especially since I reevaluated some preflop stuff, I feel like the only way I can lose money is getting coolered! Before it used to be a combination of coolers and "calling only to fold flop" or "raising only to give up on the flop" and these last two factors have died down a lot of late.

Re: How to Be Happy as a Live Pro

Yeh I bet $300 and he folded. But I was just curious as to the merits of checking river. He's the type of guy to jump on weakness and checks like 100% of the time.

Another hand, 5 handed, pfr is fairly wide.

Mp opens $20, hero 3! to $55 w A3dd, call
Flop $110: A85r
Check check
Turn: Jo
V bets $35, call.
River $180: 7
V jams for $170, hero ???

Re: How to Be Happy as a Live Pro

Daily Update - Fri 15/09/17

Hours Played: 7.6
Profit: $970

Notes: Another decent win today. Had AA 4 times in 8 hours which is always nice. One hand of note...

Couple limps, SB (750) makes it $25, hero in BB $75 w AA, SB calls.
Flop $160: J45ss
Check, hero bets $85, raise to $230, hero calls
Turn $620: 5h
Villain jams $400 odd, hero calls...
We agree to run the river 3 times. Villain shows KTo and is dead anyway? So we scoop a nice $1500 donation...

Did deadlifts and triceps at the gym this arvo, was a good workout, good post-workout shake in afterwards, and then went to the game for a hefty dinner. A really pleasant day overall.

Looking forward to another homegame tomorrow and hopefully Sunday as well, then Monday and praying Tuesday we'll get a game up as well. If I can convince a host to get a Tuesday rotation game up, we'll be able to play an easy 6 day schedule this week, most of which in low rake comped homegames - the dream.

Anyway, it's 4am now... sleep for me then we'll do it all over again tomorrow!
