This thread will be about tracking my results, my motivation and my health.

Let me start off by telling a bit about myself. I’ve played poker on and off since 2013. Since university I’ve been at 3 different jobs. Just as with the previous ones, I also dislike my current job. Working 40h+ a week just takes way too much time and energy for something I’m not really passionate about. I would love to have at least a part time job and play poker for the rest of the time. In order to even consider this though, I need to prove to myself first that I can actually even win at poker.

Even though I’ve had some moderate success at MTTs, I’ve always "struggled" with NL cash games.
Results:
MTTs: 17.014$
Online cash: -3.126$
Live cash : -2.806$

MTT/SNG graph:

Cash game graph:

Cash results:

Impressive right? I know.

Not too great..

My main goals right now are to beat cash games and move my way up in stakes and to take care of myself physically, mentally and socially.
I will play mainly on Pokerstars starting at 10NL and sometimes on an untracked poker site at a various array of stakes.

Thanks for reading! ALL feedback is welcome.

Hi there
I am struggling at 10NL cashgames myself at the moment but...
There is question I want to ask that the answer might help you.
Isn't your goal to make money playing this game?
If yes, what is the reason to play in stars?
As I can remember, stars has a huge amount of grinders who are playing very well and at general for cash games, its a tough field
Why not playing some softer networks?
888poker etc...
It's something to consider Imo

I'm a very competitive person. My first goal is actually to become a better player than my opposition. Making money would be just a reflection of of my relative skill in the field I'm playing in.

Also I live in a place where Stars is one of the only legal sites to play on, so unfortunately that limits my options pretty badly.

Gl sir!

Hi
Yeah for sure if you're trying to build a better game stars is the one to go Imo.
For sure there are some other options as well... For example ACR could be one
And I totally get it , having a limited option on poker clients socks.
I live in Iran, so honestly there is not a single room that I can play without Issue other than ACR atm.
Gl

I want to be very honest with myself and the readers in this topic. How? By not only sharing when things are going my way.

I think I'll call it quits for today. Everything went pretty horrible.

Was very very nervous today at my job and after, and I'm not 100% sure why. I've been struggling with anxiety and my health quite a bit lately.

Anyway, got in quite some hands 2-tabling 10z and played with a really calm mindset. I am pretty happy with how I played.

I should aim to be this 'relaxed' every session. I say 'relaxed' because I honestly don't know how to really relax. I tried to go to the gym today to make me a bit more at ease, but ended up in front of closed doors.

Not going to lie, this hand tilted me a bit:

I have been sleeping very bad for the last month or so, but last night was one of the worst. Was awake about 4-5 hours before my alarm went off.
Needless to say my day at the job was pretty .
I am exhausted but I'm not sleepy in the slightest.

Decided to play 2 sessions and ran pretty sweet overall
Also pretty happy with my mental game. This is great for me since I've always been very prone to tilt in cash games (in the past).

Had a pretty big bad beat irl today. Had a first performance review at my job about 1,5 mo ago that was pretty negative overall. Today I sat together with my manager again, who told me that the quality of my work hasn't really improved and they will very likely let me go in the near future.
I don't know if I should search for an other, similar job or not. Ofcourse I'd like to generate a piece of my income with poker, but I'm nowhere good enough yet to rely on it.

I honestly can't see myself do a 'high level' (read: master degree necessary) job without hating it. I just hate the conformity and corporate culture so bad . Even though I don't necessarily love this job, getting feedback like this still hurts and I've been feeling pretty down about it all day.

Sorry for the rant, I had to get it off my chest. I'll make it up with the spoilers no worries .

Anyway, at least poker went really good. I've been playing my best game ever in cash games and I ran pretty hot too imho.

I'm still very tired today. I've played 2000 hands though. Played 3 tables of zoom instead of the usual 2. Didn't play great, but also feel like I ran into a lot of setups and unlucky spots today. Going to play 2 tables again at least until I can squeeze out a nice profitable session.

              I'm probably done for today.
