I’m sure many of you heard the saying “the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results”…well this quote in a nutshell has been my poker existence.

Buy in for $50, lose right away or grind a few wins. The few wins turn into a few more wins and my bankroll is growing. Inevitably, I suffer a bad beat or two and instead of grinding it back, I jump to higher stakes trying to win it all back.
Sometimes it works and I continue but eventually it doesn’t and I give it all back.

This is the cycle I want to break and this is the reason I’m starting this thread. This is my first PG&C thread and by making myself somewhat accountable, I can hopefully avoid this pitfall. I will try to update daily and post some interesting hands as they come along.

I will be doing this Challenge on Bovada and will start with an initial deposit of $90. I will play PLO8 25 primarily with some Zone25 thrown in to break the monotony. I will not attempt to move up until I have at least 20 buyins.

Played for about 4 hours yesterday and ran pretty good. Bovada mobile sure comes in handy when you have to sit through a 2 hour awards ceremony.

Will post some hands when I find a hand converter for Bovada O8.

It's been a rollercoaster of a week so far. The initial "run good" ended pretty quickly and I suffered somewhat of a drawdown. I was down to about $120 and being super frustrated and wanting to get back to even, I jumped into the crack cocaine of poker-Zone1/2. I folded a few hands and even though I'm aware that I'm doing it again and falling into my old cycle, I didn't care...it was double or nothing!

Luckily, I was playing on my iphone at work and my business phone rang so I had to stop myself.

I wasn't able to play again until I got home a few hours later and by then, the temptation to get back to even faded and I was back on the grind.

I have been playing PLO8 online for about 5 years now and am confident that I can win consistently up to PLO8100. It's the urge to get back to even right away when I lose a few buyins that inevitably kills my bankroll.

The struggle continues...
