It has to be said that Snowie has taught me some fancy plays. In the micros, I would never flat a flop 3-bet OOP with a gutshot, but Snowie plays like a maniac in BvB spots.
Week 29 review
I deposited 30 quid on Stars, ostensibly to play a few MicroMillions events. It was weird having a HUD again after playing without one for 8 months. I started a brand new database, so had no stats on anyone. To check the HUD was working, I regged in the 2 cent 990-player hyper MTSNG. I accidentally ran like god and made the final table. Straight after that, I played a $1 45-man SNG and won it, so after 2 tourneys I was up 36 buyins (!), but it was only $12 in real money. #variance
I ultimately played about 20 tourneys, but soon remembered why I hate them so much: too much of the luck factor, and too much time investment for too little reward. In one MM tourney, I apparently won at 66bb/100 but didn't cash.
It's just ridiculous that you can outplay everyone when you have a decent stack, but you're almost totally at the mercy of the PokerGods once you're short. #StupidGame
So... I quit with the timbeys and decided to see if micro zoom is as nitty as I remember. It was. I played 2NLz and the dynamic is soooo different to the cashgames on Unibet. It doesn't even compare to 10NL or 25NL on Uni. It's like a completely different game. Almost every player seems stupidly value-heavy, especially when they bet the river. After 300 hands my river-call efficiency was
zero, as my usual bluff-catching style was failing quite badly, so I've got to alter my gameplan considerably if I'm gonna crush it.
I only found one player capable of triple-barreling all in with air. It was me.
Amusing 2NLz fancy play:
Hero turns 2nd pair into a bluff on the river. Gets called by worse.
I'm gonna do a deeper analysis of all my stats (and maybe make some notes on villains) once I've played more hands, but so far I've been fairly card dead, if my KK+ and flopped set frequencies are anything to go by. Results were better than I expected though.
The plan - if I can call it that, because I don't have much time for poker at the moment - is to focus on Zoom, as that's something I can do whenever I have a spare 45 minutes or so. I'll move to 5NL once I've made $25 at 2NLz and then come up with a sturdier BRM plan. If it all goes tits up, I'll just go back to Unibet. I should have stayed loyal to them really, as they gave me a free ticket to their community freeroll for posting on their forum.
