Yo Arty if u have time to play u should get on Party Poker asap cause they have a crazy summer promo goin on right now where all u gotta do is get dealt hands on their version of Zoom. U don't even gotta actually play the hands or rack up points, all u gotta do is be dealt hands in 10NL or higher.

They'll give u $150 if u log 30k, but if u can get 250k total outta the way you can make $1500

Needless to say I've been playing like a madman on there whenever I can lol

I had a couple of relaxing weeks off, visiting family and watching the footy. I didn't play any real money poker, but I watched some coaching vids and did a couple of hours of training with Snowie. The Snowbot had a minor update and now gives pro tips that I find strangely amusing.

I've now completed 8000 hands in this year's Snowie Challenge.

I had more fun beating a more addictive game:

Brag: Beat level 1000 of Candy Crush.
Beat: It took 2 years of almost daily play. I would like that time back please.
Variance: Had a breakeven stretch of 6 weeks on level 625.

I'm now writing a mystery novel.
Spoiler:
Or am I?

After my little break, I was itching to get back on the cashgame tables, but as soon as I did it started feeling like a laborious grind again. I started with the Unibet 10NL tables as I felt so rusty. I moved up to 25NL after a Friday night heater, but almost immediately spewed off a stack by making a ludicrous call with ace high. Moved back to 10NL and everything was going well until a session from hell yesterday. I'm not sure if it's due to boredom or tilt, but I keep making ******ed bluffs.

Weekly graph:

I think it might have been week 28, but meh.

Big pot:

Small pot:

I'm already struggling with motivation again. The plan was to do my usual 100k hands this year, but I'm a fair bit behind schedule and since I'm still ill I kind of feel like just putting my feet up for the whole summer to watch the Tour de France and then the Olympics. #IhatePoker

Year so far:

I'll play a bit this week, so maybe I'll get back in the groove.

I left Unibet for a while, is it still soft as hell? 10NL was starting to get Reggy when I left

I hadn't played for 3 weeks, but got back to playing since Sunday.
I find the 10NL game to be quite fishy atm.
Easy to spot regulars from fish.
Maybe still some influence from Eurocup

Lol less candy crush and more poker! How many levels are there in candy crush anyway? Is it 1000? I was always curious

By the way, "Congratulations, you completed a hard level"?

Week 28

I stopped playing cash halfway through the week. A mix of runbad and playbad made the graph pretty ugly (worse than -30bb/100 at 10NL and 25NL) and I could think of about 350 other things I'd rather do than grind my way out of the downsw0ng. The games have definitely got tougher during daylight hours during the summer months, but everyone is still pretty terrible. Apparently I'm worse.

I'm (temporarily) switching over to tourneys for lolz. I might make a deposit on Stars to play some MicroMillions events, but I'm not sure yet. #IHatePoker

Honestly fam I don't think I've seen you play but I feel like you're probably fancy playing too much just judging from the poker snowie results

Run bad is always gonna be there but at the same time I don't think the downswing would be this bad unless something else is happening too, and that's probably what it is.

Just take the simplest n most exploitative lines. You're a smart dude and it's easy to get caught up trying to do something more complex but it's usually a waste of money most of the time. If there's too many regs, you're better off bouncing to another table and worrying about them at more meaningful limits. No need to get complicated against these morons, especially not at these stakes.

This is like a decent looking guy at the bar trying to pull a drunk whore by showing her he's deep and ambitious and **** like that. It wont make a difference and you're usually falling on deaf ears & looking dumb 90% of the time. Meanwhile, some complete loser could chat up the same drunk whore and seal the deal because he's getting straight to the point n not trying to be sophisticated or anything like that. And they'll hear it out almost every time because they don't know better and usually don't care that much either anyways

Don't get sophisticated with the one night stand girls, save the fancy plays for the girls that will actually make u work for the pussy cause those are the ones that it will actually work on lol

I think if you got out of the micros you'd crush

It has to be said that Snowie has taught me some fancy plays. In the micros, I would never flat a flop 3-bet OOP with a gutshot, but Snowie plays like a maniac in BvB spots.

Week 29 review

I deposited 30 quid on Stars, ostensibly to play a few MicroMillions events. It was weird having a HUD again after playing without one for 8 months. I started a brand new database, so had no stats on anyone. To check the HUD was working, I regged in the 2 cent 990-player hyper MTSNG. I accidentally ran like god and made the final table. Straight after that, I played a $1 45-man SNG and won it, so after 2 tourneys I was up 36 buyins (!), but it was only $12 in real money. #variance
I ultimately played about 20 tourneys, but soon remembered why I hate them so much: too much of the luck factor, and too much time investment for too little reward. In one MM tourney, I apparently won at 66bb/100 but didn't cash.

It's just ridiculous that you can outplay everyone when you have a decent stack, but you're almost totally at the mercy of the PokerGods once you're short. #StupidGame

So... I quit with the timbeys and decided to see if micro zoom is as nitty as I remember. It was. I played 2NLz and the dynamic is soooo different to the cashgames on Unibet. It doesn't even compare to 10NL or 25NL on Uni. It's like a completely different game. Almost every player seems stupidly value-heavy, especially when they bet the river. After 300 hands my river-call efficiency was zero, as my usual bluff-catching style was failing quite badly, so I've got to alter my gameplan considerably if I'm gonna crush it.

I only found one player capable of triple-barreling all in with air. It was me.

Amusing 2NLz fancy play: Hero turns 2nd pair into a bluff on the river. Gets called by worse.

I'm gonna do a deeper analysis of all my stats (and maybe make some notes on villains) once I've played more hands, but so far I've been fairly card dead, if my KK+ and flopped set frequencies are anything to go by. Results were better than I expected though.

The plan - if I can call it that, because I don't have much time for poker at the moment - is to focus on Zoom, as that's something I can do whenever I have a spare 45 minutes or so. I'll move to 5NL once I've made $25 at 2NLz and then come up with a sturdier BRM plan. If it all goes tits up, I'll just go back to Unibet. I should have stayed loyal to them really, as they gave me a free ticket to their community freeroll for posting on their forum.

I always get a kick out of the weird quirks of randomness I spot when analysing small samples. From my new database, I see that I've check-raised the flop nine times, and saw a turn card five times.

I don't always get called when I check-raise the flop, but when I do, 80% of turn cards are the ten of clubs.

Broken RNG imo. #variance

Thank you Arty, if I'm ever at your table and see you check-raise me, I can make a decision knowing exactly what the turn card will be.

Good luck at zoom; I'm sure you'll crush it!

Maybe I should stop making huge bluffs in 3-bet pots. I'm running so badly with my ten-high overbets. :/

To be fair, I'm probably quite unbalanced in this spot, with way too much air, but I play flushes, sets and QJs/65s the same way, and I can't think of anything better to do with the worst hands in my range. It's probably correct for him to call when he has the flush blocker. In game, I thought he was just giving up with AK or something random. I am the spewiest penguin ever.

2NL fish calls the river jam with TPTK purely because he has one blocker to the backdoor flush, poker confirmed dead. I guess your bluff is easy to justify if you write GTO next to it though without any understand of what it means.
