GTFO 2nl for good! GTFO 2nl for good!

I've started playing a lot more serious lately, mainly due to the fact that I want to play a stake higher than 2nl, and to do that, I need to know that I can beat 2nl.

For arguments sake, I started this January 1st, even though it was sometime in mid december... I got serious in the new year to try and build up a BR to play some less depressing stakes...

So far I have logged 35k hands at 2nl, January was great, up 5.75bb/100... February has been an abysmal month and I'm back down a bunch, basically break-even from 2k hands to 35k hands... depressing.

My goal was to hit $100 by the end of Februrary, but a $40 downswing over the past week has crippled that goal... Took a 5nl shot @ $85br (16bi) and it failed, leaving me at $60... then proceeded to run/play like crap at 2nl too to leave me at $49.44.

I won't try 5nl again until I have $120 in the BR, enough to lose a 4BI shot at 5nl and still be at $100+

I play at FTP, 2nl 6max with 27% rakeback. I will include the rake deposited every friday into my BR total.

So from today forward, I am not going to play a session without conciously thinking "why am I making this call" "why am I raising here?" and "is this really going to be a profitable play long-term?"

Start of today my BR = $49.44

BR Now = $54.19
+$4.85 19.72bb/100 over 615 hands

Stats were: 15.7/12.4/2.27 6.96% 3bet

Will update as often as possible. I usually play ~600 hands most weekdays, and ~5000 hands on the weekend.

Wondering if this was a weak fold or not... figured he is likely there with an A/K of clubs...

Good luck to you.

Second hand 4bet preflop when he min raises you. And bet big on flop, don't slow play. Otherwise this hand just a cooler.

Forgot to post my lifetime graph in the original post, too late to modify now, so here it is:

I took my 5nl shot at hand ~29,000... Gave up on it at hand ~30,500.

Was ready to go to bed, and thought to myself, "Shouldn't you get at least 1k hands in your first session?"

So I loaded up 6 tables with a revised HUD stat, and actually played pretty good... Watched a training video called "Micro Machines" and the simplest theories make the most sense..

Anyhoo, now I really am off to bed. Results:

BR = $58.74
+ $4.55

Last night's session was not helpful... I felt like they were inside my head, knowing when I was cbetting and knowing when I didn't have 'the goods'.. extremely agressive players for some reason, no matter what table I was at...

Ran into aces at least 4 times... Very bad night...

BR at the end of the night:: $49.42(-$9.32)

Rakeback for the week: $6.43

Ending BR= $55.85

Two first hands seems like a terrible coolers. Unfortunately you don't post villain stats so it is hard to know with what kind of player we deal here.

1. In general with 2 pairs I am happily stacking here especially on board like that, I think it is profitable play in long run and fish at 2NL will call there with much worse.

Your play is good here too, as played on turn (after he re raised you flop bet) I am checking behind. It will force him to show true color of his cards on river as he cannot slow play nuts anymore; however, if we find ourselves betting turn, once he re raises you turn bet, I would take look into his stats and see if I can find a reason to call, fish will never re raise you twice unless they have killer hand.

2. Once this flash comes to flop and villain raises my bet x5, it is easy fold, on such heavy flash board he might shove on just draw, but it is never pure bluff, he has an equity there.

3. Raise, re raise, I am flatting my QQ and see what they 2 guys behind me going to do, if one of them re raises again or goes all in, I am trowing Q's away easily. I cannot count how many times I was in same spots holding K's and going all in just to see that one of the raisers had AA.

Thanks for the input!

I agree that I should not have shoved QQ into a raise and a re-raise... flatting and seeing a flop would be optimal...

THANK YOU FTP!!!

With my $52.04 BR on FTP transferred to Pokerstars, my BR was at $125, enabling me to comfortably move up to 5nl.

Thankfully I had some rungood coming my way, and it helped me skyrocket from $125 to $160 in the first 48 hours. Been hovering @ ~$160 for the past week which is OK as I've been killing the VPP's like never before!

Making actual progress towards my first VPP milestone ($10) & if I put enough volume in there is a chance I can reach silverstar for the first time ever!

Been reading The Poker Mindset as well as Kill Everyone to try and help my A) tilt issues, and B) live tournament results.

Only half way through Kill Everyone & I won my last pub league game, definitely got lucky a couple times but hey, can't win tournaments without some luck, right?

I'll post up some garphs tonight if anyone cares!
