5. Image of villain(nit, semi pro, recreational player)
6. How much longer in session
7. Etc

Honestly, more often than not I would tell villain, "Sorry, I can buy you a drink."
Haha I like the last comment, because he ended up buying me a vodka redbull haha.

A floor man while giving me chips made a mistake and gave an extra $15. He had shaken my hand earlier so I gave him back the extra $15. I am not completely a bad person.

It is a little hard to believe I won't be playing at the Oaks anymore 1 week from now. It appears I'll be arriving in Vegas during WSOP season. I really don't know if it has any real significance to me as the game and stakes I play run 24/7/365 in Vegas anyways.

I am going to try and keep the poker playing light this week and focus on getting my personal life together, tying loose ends and saying goodbye to friends. I've been thinking that my biggest challenge after moving out there will not be the poker but rather making new friends and finding stuff to do outside of poker. My social skills have gotten a little rusty over that last few years, definitely room for improvement.

4) what if you realized this 30 mins later, an hour, 5 hours

If I was the old man I would have a problem with chopping the pot. If a player accidentally mucks hand, then its accepted such player is out of luck. Maybe dealer should pay out of pocket for mistake or written up. IMO

Nothing against OP, good job of getting the chop.
1) I guess he could refuse and risk a ban
2) I am probably ****ed, I was worried about him losing the chips while the floor was checking the tape
3) My hand was tabled, cards speak even though I didn't realize I was entitle to half the pot. I never mucked my hand the dealer did.
4) I am not sure at what point it is too late, as I rushed back in the doors I already knew I might leave empty handed but I am pretty much freerolling

I show my J on a J6668 board and he shows his J as well, but since I know the rules I show both my cards, this guy however mucks his other card and the dealer automatically declares the hand dead. So I win the 250BB pot.

I end up giving him half the pot after the dealer scooped it my way because I could tell it was an honest mistake.

What would you do? There are no friends on the poker table but I believe in doing the right thing yet I would've been up for the day and well, we play for max profit.
I would probably give up half the pot esspecially to a recreational player. If it was a known angle shooter I might think twice.

I was in a good game today, pretty standard no huge mistakes. Vegas is going to be a much bigger player pool than I am used to here at the Oaks. I think my radar is pretty good at sizing up new opponents but I guess we'll find out soon enough as I'll have plently of villains to try and figure out. I think my general style might be a little more effective vs unknowns aswell.

Thanks! I'll keep blogging, it is always helpful to review my session and get second opinions on tough hands. I'll be staying between UNLV and the Strip.

It feels kind of surreal to have been looking forward to this for a long time and finally make it happen.

Great thread. Will you be walking to the strip and back in the summer? I ask because I was under the impression that the heat is unbearable.

Mostly 2/5. If I run bad I can drop down to 1/2, If I run good I might try a few 50bb buy ins at 5/10.

It's about a 30 min walk to Aria or Bellagio poker room. It can get up to 115 or so but I don't mind it. I'll be carrying water for sure and using sunscreen.

What area are you staying in? I was under the impression the only areas worth staying in are like a 10 minute walk from the strip and after that the areas get a little shady.

Vegas has a really good bus system so you might want to check it out. Since you don't have a real job, you can always time your session around the bus route if it gets too hot in the summer. Plus, some routes are 24/7. Be careful walking late at night. I actually like walking too bc it's good exercise. Maybe you can walk to the casino to play and then when you cash out and ready to go home, I think it might be safer to take the bus home if it's late at night!!!!

Between UNLV and the Strip. I've spent 2 weeks there previously and the area didn't seem too bad/ unsafe to me.

I haven't owned a car for 3 yrs, I am accustomed to walking almost everywhere. I think it is good to balance the 6-8 hrs of sitting with an hr of walking. I'm sure I'll be making use of public transit too. I will also look into getting a box at one of the poker rooms so I don't have to carry much cash on me.

I played my last session before I head to Vegas at Garden City. It went alright, there was one hand where I played tens in a ******ed passive manner.

It was a 30 min walk to Oaks from my spot in Oakland so it's already a routine for me. Walking helps with the stress and swings of poker and gives me a chance to think about any hands I played.

You do need some sleep my man. It's June, not April. Just a head's up haha.
Will you be updating with which rooms you are/have been playing in?

I'm still getting acclimated so I didn't play that long. I think I want to set the bar high this month so I'm aiming for 200 hrs.

I haven't made it over to Rio yet, might have to check it tomorrow.

Haha, I was really out of it . I am going to be playing mostly at Aria, Bellagio and MGM because they are the closest and have the best rake structure. I am 5 mins from the Hard Rock poker room but it doesn't have much traffic like the big rooms and usually only has 1 or 2 tables of 1/3 with 4+2 rake.
