Sedona

The Sedona trip with my dad and brother was pretty fun. We did some hiking and running. It was threatening to rain the whole weekend but we managed to dodge it while doing our outdoor activities. It was cool to see the landscape with a different ambience than previous trips. Took some clips to upload later. Still have a ton of footage from NY/Philly sitting on my laptop just gotta set aside time to edit it.

Met up with this cute chick off OKcupid I'd been chatting with for like a month. She kicked my ass at pool then we hung out back at my place for a bit. We really clicked, gunna meet up again on Valentines.

I knew from seeing your videos you`re a sick shredder on guitar, but damn it was cold today I dunno how you can play like that with your fingers being freezing cold. For that reason I decided not to try to talk to ya longer like I wanted. Take care man, hope to see you around more often!
Nice to meet ya dude. Yeah LOG are ****ing killer, I do have the Mark Morton beard going on at the moment haha. His new colab with the late great Chester Bennington is pretty tight. My hands freeze up a bit during the winter months, if it gets too cold I'll use some of the chemical hand warmers in between songs. Grateful to be in the southwest where we are avoiding the snowpocalypse in other regions haha.

Yeah I heard the Chester colab here recently; great song. I gotta check out the rest of the album. See ya around!

I'm taking advantage of Diamond perks as this will probably be the only year I have it. Got to use the $100 "celebration dinner" at Hell's Kitchen on Valentine's. I guess I can get free show tickets every month, not really any I particularly want to see, maybe go check out some stand up comedy.

For some reason parts of your background music in that NYC clip reminded me of this song (either the guitar tone or chord progression or timing or something):

Yep I can kind of hear the same vibe, simple chords and similar strumming cadence.

I am going to start upping my running mileage to get back on pace for my 100 miles per month goal. Weather is getting to that sweet spring spot before the summer inferno.

After volunteering at the church in Fremont last year that serves free breakfast, I realize how inefficient my small poker player volunteer organization operated by comparison. This year I am just going to lend a hand with more established organizations. I wanted to volunteer to help at the race in Sedona this year but I signed up too late. I will help out with some LV races instead.

I got a new wireless system for my guitar so I don't have to worry about an instrument cable knotting up and getting in the way when I jam.

I'm thinking about taking one more trip before WSOP to either Austin/ San Antonio or Seattle/ Tacoma to check out the poker scene.

I got some bigger softer wheels and new bearings for the skateboard, it's cruising like a dream now.

I put in a few small March Madness bets for a friend, little something to sweat.

I got in a 7 miler and an 8 miler, building back my endurance 1 notch at a time.

Icebox Canyon

The Strip

I was in LA for another week. Mostly grinding but also got in a 10 mile run/hike at Griffith Park. Did a little skating at the beach as well.

I went to Red Rock for the first time this year and checked out the Icebox Canyon trail, pretty technical with a lot of hopping over boulders.

I saw the movie "Us", 2 thumbs up. I haven't really enjoyed many movies in the theaters recently but I actually liked this one. Some elements of "American Psycho" and "Evil Dead". Also had some creepy music.

We have about a month to go until WSOP season, my volume has been decent. Gunna try and keep the momentum rolling.

Here is the last vid from my East Coast trip in Jan.

Countdown to WSOP

Hollywood

Some of my art

I'm heading to Texas this weekend, gunna check out San Antonio and Austin. Unfortunately a couple of poker rooms just got raided in the Houston area today. The politics and legality of poker in Texas is complex with a lot of poker rooms operating openly in recent years with the business model of membership fees and time charges as opposed to rake like most underground games. I plan to scope out the poker scene, try some bbq and go on a few runs.

Portland poker scene trumps Seattle/Tacoma by a large margin. "Why" you'd ask? One terrible word. -> rake
Portland has none.
They're called "social gaming clubs" but literally have no rake cash games running 11-2am all days, and one in particular runs all night sometimes. They simply charge a $15 membership fee once upon arrival

Sounds good dude, I'll have to hit up Portland on my way to Washington. I've never been north of Lassen Volcanic NP on the west coast, look forward to checking out the region.

I'm assuming this is a cryptic way of saying you live in Texas?

If any locals want to hang I'm planning to hit up Andrew and Brad's meet up game at Texas Card House in Austin May 9th.

It's all good. Great dealers and staff, well run room with more games running on a monday than I anticipated. They also hooked me up with a veteran discount off the already low fees. Two thumbs up, anyone visiting SA should definitely hit up Rounders. My trip has been enjoyable so far, feels good to squeeze in one last adventure before hunkering down in LV for the WSOP grind.

2019 WSOP begins

This first weekend is starting off with a bang. The Big 50 tourney is getting 20k+ entries easily, this is the same demographic that plays low stakes cash games so every poker room is filled to near capacity. They are still managing to spread some cash games including 1/3 and 2/5 in Kings Lounge at Rio which is nice, autoshufflers and free catering. The decks they are using here are actually pretty good this year.

Games have been off the hook and the lists packed. Diamonds get bumped to the top of the list at all Caesars properties, that perk has really come in handy. I've ran into a lot of poker buddies as always.

My Dad was visiting town for a couple days rounding out his roadtrip through a bunch of national parks in Utah and Colorado. We went and checked out Valley of Fire.

My apologies if you said already but are you playing any WSOP events? I don't think you play many tournies but just curious.

Also, where in CO did your dad go? Colorado National Monument is an overlooked gem so hopefully he checked that out. I have a trip planned to visit Dinosaur National Monument in October. Never been but have heard great things...

No tournaments for me, I stick to cash games. I just like WSOP time because it pumps up the action around town.

Rocky Mtn and Arches NP I believe, not sure if he stopped CO national monument I think he might have. I love that drive through western CO on I-70. Have a good trip, fossils are a fascinating view into the past.
