No problem and gl to you too!

Today I got bored to 200nl again and decided to take 2 buy in shot to 500nl. Well I lost the 2 buyins in a minute and after that 200nl didn't felt like boring anymore. In a way I'm happy to finding the good old gambler from myself and realizing that it's realy easy take too early shots and easy to start losing. It will take 22 workhours to gain back 1k on EV at 200nl with my recent winrate RB included. But atleast now I'm motivated. I want to make it to 500nl and I'll start shots when my BR is 30K - now I'm at round 13k.

Next month as mentioned will be less poker heavy but after that I think I'm going to settle down somewhere again, buy PIO solver, grind a lot and work harder on my game than before. My goal is to be rolled for nl500 shots at the end of this year.

I did put 3k hands in today and ended 1,4k down.. Month is anyhow 2k up with RB so I'm not that worried - the shot was stupid anyways and too early. Tomorrow I'll wake up early to get into the weekend night games..

------------

The two nl500 hands:

H1)

I think turn raise is better than giving up or calling, which will both end up -EV I think. Villain should be probably b/folding hands like AQ vs the raise on turn so my river jam will basically turn his twopairs into bluffcatchers and I don't think he will fold twopairs so my river jam sucks + his turn sizing is polarizing him a decent bit and we block AK. I still like the turn raise but pretty much hate jamming river. Changes are he calls turn raise with worse FD and checks it back which makes checking even better

I've been running a fever for 3 days and also diarrhea for the last two basically just sleeping all the time. Today the fever felt like gone in the morning so I showered, shaved my face, cleaned my appartment etc. It made me feel a lot more fresh. Stomach is still not well and I feel quite weird but I guess the worst is over. Now I go to 7-eleven buy some yoghurt and dehydration drinks and then I'll start grinding, if it feels like **** then I quit but I really wanna play and concentrate on something after this weird 3 day period.

      Thanks man!

4h grind yesterday and 5h today I'm happy of my workethic & motivation atm. and realy look forward to be healthy again. Results haven't been amazing and yesterday I made a couple mistakes but played much better today. (yesterday -600 today +800).

I also found and fixed one leak on my thinking process, leak example hand/

      H1)

Villain somewhat straighforward 21/18 but making mistakes - can't remember all reads from him but more a guy who always goes for the good odds calls if you let him have them than for a marginal tricky bluffshove on rivers or any other spots. Against a player like him we have a good blockbet - fold on the river which was my actual plan. I changed it because of realizing that I'm face up after making the bet and starting to worry that he turns QQ or QJs to bluff.

The point is that my thoughtprocess and purpose of the bet + what am I going to do vs. the shove should be crystall clear on the river. Now I had the keys to play the river right vs. him but I made a mistake by talking myself to calling and changing intial game plan without a good reason. The results or hand are not super important but the fact that making a change to what I want to do with a hand when I have reads on villain and have decided already what I want to do is very amateur mistake. After the hand I obv. felt frustrated and confused. This is one the few thoughtprocess leaks I have had - making a river bet and talking myself to call a raise / shove and not being prepared for it well enough before making the bet.

I thinked this over yesterday, got today into similar spot and made an easy bet - snap fold. Both of the hands may have been marginal but losing confidence is the thing that ends up costing money and the way to lose confidence is making those "I don't know" "it might be" plays which are usually losing calls.

Today I've been also working on trying to spot harder population tendencies but I'm not going much into it because it would give way too much info to my opponents. Anyhow I'm looking forward to approach those ingame and see how it will effect on results.

It's interesting the raise on turn has highest EV vs. someone who likes to raise flops & barrel. He will be unable to stack me light on turn cause the valuepart of our range is much stronger than his. (learned this from Scurras thread I admit)

I think I could have played this better by shoving the flop. I guess the slowplay & turn ship made him explo fold something. Thing is that the third guy will not be very happy putting much money in anyways with his middlepairs after the flop action and I'm perceived on KK+, boat, / quads anyways so ship in and atleast get paid by QQ+ type range. Imo

            --------------------------------------------------

Im happy of getting motivation to poker back - pretty much realizing that now it's the time for my carreer and as I do not know how long it lasts it's better to make some money so that I don't have to retire into warehouse work after being a pokerpro . That being said I think I'm going to take 2 weeks off in the Philippines not think about poker at all just let myself rest and gather power for upcoming grind. I will have to observe how is the weather I don't want to have two weeks rain.. If that's the case there everywhere then I only go for the visa run, see if I want to play some APPT Manila event and go back to Thailand. I think after Phillippines I'm going to Chiang Mai and rent a condo from there. I was also considering Vietnam but I've never been there and before making a decission to stay somewhere it's smart to visit first and I liked Chiang Mai and I feel good being in Thailand and can travel more later so I guess that it's going to be the deal.

            Gl everyone!

Question, you know living costs on places near nature in dollars? Not a big city like Banghkok. No luxuries at all, just standard.

I'm not a living cost expert and don't know anything about your situation but the things that matter are 1) whether you can rent a condo for long term or not, will get much cheaper than staying month or weeks here and there 2) how much energy and time you are ready to put in to live cheap. 3) If you are a pro pokerplayer and thats your main source of income you should concentrate on poker and not how to live cheaply, if you study/work and poker is disimportant and want to have travel experience then you can live backpacker lifestyle cheap somewhere and spent a lot of time on always looking for the cheapest products, cheapest streetfood, cheapest beer etc. Thai peoples average salary is probably 400-600d/month I would assume but they don't pay tourist price anywhere.

My advice for pokerplayers who play nl50 or something and want to live somewhere in Asia cheap is not to do it, rather wait till you do well atleast at nl100 because those stakes are not far away from each other but the monthly you can make starts to get much better at 100nl and up I think. For me the idea of living here in terms of money is to use the buying power of money and live much higher lifestyle than I could afford doing at home. Having gym and big pool for workout on backyard is the nuts, it both makes it easy to go workout and it's very +EV for poker and life too. I love the pool its also stylish and I'm happy to pay for them. I also don't need gold, glamour or 100 servants but I think this living choice brings a lot more EV both in money and in life for me than living cheap trying to save 600-800d more a month and having no AC and spending hours a day searching for the cheapest foods etc. having to take public busses to get to town and having a noisy and restless neighbourhood. I don't want those - they are huge -EV for life and for concentration to poker and end up being expensive that way.

Using money and being ready to lose it will make you a much better pokerplayer and winner in life. Beeing greedy and trying too much to save money and fearing of losing money will make you a scary loser. Life is an ongoing process and the money saved doesn't have the same power for you if you are unhealthy 70-year old than if you are healthy 20-year old + the randomness of how long everything lasts. Those are things I've been thinking quite alot about and come to an conclusion that if I can get some money saved + cover livingcosts and be cappable to live a lifestyle I want to live and enjoy playing poker is the nuts and I want it to last as long as possible.

            -----------------

I managed to do 10h day yesterday grinding and analyzing hands with a friend of mine who is atm. in BKK. 3k hands in and ended close to BE and today I've put in 2k hands and 200d. Not running good but the games have been soft during the times I've played and I'm happy of how I'm playing and feel very motivated even the virus doesn't seem to be completely over..

Not the easiest river spots AQ I think we should be potting the turn and river could be a check back vs some people cause it's hard to find me bluffing it a lot.

don't u think KQ should be a check somewhere, you never get 3 streets and betting for that sizing on the river is asking for trouble if villain is decent

Generally yes you are right we should be checking some street but I forgot to mention I had read that villain is passive & stationy in small pots but no info on how he plays bigger ones and if he is fish or not which makes it a bit better to go for the thin river bet. He only has 4 combos of the TJs which I assume he jams on the river and I don't assume he is cappable jamming stuff like AJ or KJ there. Can happen time to time but more often I guess he will lean towards stationing some top pair type stuff.

Against a decent player we should be checking one of the streets and actually starting from flop wouldn't be bad at all imo.

The turn is a card we should probably have a high betting frequency. River if I ship all AK, AQ I probably go too wide and make it easy for him to call down even 9x. Good thing is that we don't block FDs + my A4s gets there on the river. I'm not sure what to think about his river call.

Similar spot. I think his call with 88 is kind of equally good as calling TT or T9s. My value range is somewhat narrow, AK, AA, some combos of 99. Tripping this with AQ as bluff is probably the thing to do and this could go fit better as a turn x/.

Vs. Fish I wonder whats max. ev? Ship flop / allow him bluff any turn if he is raising polarized w. some 0 eq bluffs that would fold. I guess the call is better and since just 1 psb left on turn don't think we should do anything but stick in any turn.

This was interesting. His riverbet looks a lot like some overvalued AQ that wants to get value, 66 is also in his range, he is pretty laggro high vpip reg. I'm repping few combos of KQ, KJ, KT and block JT from his range and basically don't end up having stuff to bluff so I choose to jam the river. Even 666 is marginal call vs. the jam I think.

But it's tricky hand all the way - even the turn call might end up losing and we should turn this to bluff or fold. I'm not sure.

Preflop somewhat explains itself. Turn is quit mandatory bet for me. River we jam for value because villains range is the very most of the time A-highs and some A2, A4.

Turn bet is good for equity realization but I'm not expecting to have big FE there and missing river would be even close whether to bluff or not - maybe getting some AJ to fold but it would be a common mistake to fire a two street bluff way too wide vs. somewhat capped but very call happy range there.

Here I like my line quite a lot. It looks for villain that he will dig a whole for himself by raising stuff like AA, KK on the flop cause I could do this with a set or two pair + I deny some equity from some of his preflop bluffs. Turn I'm going for the xR to make his range into a very sucky spot

Whats the reason u stay only for a month and spend most of the time grinding ? Just asking because I think its a great country to stay a while longer

The reason is that I want to visit Phillippines and I've already been in Thailand for holiday and after Philippines I'll come back to Thailand and probably settle down to Chiang Mai as I've written here before. So it's not like I would be jumping into a foreign coutry I know nothing about and put curtains down and start grind - and I'll anyways highest likely end up staying much longer than one month cause I'll come back.

I seriously doubt we should be doing anything but c/f the river in H4. You're trying to fold out hands he may not be betting on the river in the first place and you obv can't rep a lot given how super capped you are.

I can have the few flushes I mentioned they will end up as +EV flats on flop, though the all combos are not in my ranges. Otherwise I seriously agree with what you are saying it will end up as losing shove I think.

2,3k hands and BE today. I was already 800d down so its allright. Generally I played pretty well but ended up making some mistakes I think - as always.

H1) The flop float is a bit too wide, I overvalued my handstrenght on this texture. The runout obv. favors our range and it should be difficult for him to call down anything but straight which he doesn't have a lot + I should not be able to show up with a lot of bluffs so not hating the line but unfortunately it was mentally too heavy for him to make a laydown with top two on 3 flush 4 straight board.

H2) 34s makes perfect sense for him. Turn is close but a clear call imo after all - sets we can somewhat outcount from taking such overprotective valuemiss line. Calling top pair Kx would be terrible though

Pre I should 4b bigger like 46d a bit deeper I think. I'm suprised Snowie is saying turn call ends up losing 9bb's - my guess is that snowie is not very price + implied odds sensitive on this one and once we call and hit the ace we make two pair on riveron a runout where our range is generally capped & one pair heavy -> expecting okay implied odds vs. his bluffs + the 2 outs two 6 are obv. nuts.

                                  I'm not sure though.

3 guys with squeeze + 12% behind so think its allright to call time to time pre.

River I wasn't quite familiar with situation that occurs 1 to 10 million hands but if he is doing the raising with the Ax & doesn't see me having much Kx and will call a shove always with Ax this will end up being okay shove - but thats a lot to expect and I think generally this might turn to a big blunder on my side isolating myself vs. the very few Kx combos.

                                      ---------------------------

I feel motivated to play poker & work on my game and during the last few days while waking up I've felt like "didn't I just quit working yesterday, time just flies" - but it's not a bad feeling cause I like poker and my schedule has also become more functional since I made a compromise by waking up 7:00 and starting grind 8:00 and stopping between 2-4pm as I feel.

Today I took a lot of breaks while grinding and checked phone too much which indicates that I need to take day off and will probably take tuesday. Anyways it's been nothing like that when I was feeling burned out checking clock all time and losing concentration after 10min grind.. I haven't drinked much in the past two weeks and will also continue that way even time to time taking one small beer on lunch or a couple in the evening is not that bad for my concentration but getting wasted leads to a lot of negativity and unmotivation in generall for me towards everything in life so I'll stay away from doing it. Atm. I want to get fit again and get rid of this sticky virus. Fever is over but still have pain in legs and yesterday my throat was on fire, but only time to time. I've been swimming round 40min / day but I think it's not good while the virus is still on my body.

Just chill today, and try to make decission a) how long to stay in Manila (would like to play some live pokerz) b) which island to go for holiday in Phillippines or not to do it because the wheather dont seem good anywhere. Now I'm considering Boracay or Palawan c) how long to stay Phillippines and wheather to go back Thailand & keep the plan with Chiang Mai or to go grind at some else place if I get better idea..

I'm open to ideas as always.

2k hands today, didn't play my best and even tilted at the end. I was running bad though, EV +100 result -550. Definitely time for day off tomorrow. Last job I do is to evaluate some hands.

The idea of turn jam is to make his AK -EV call vs. my jamming range + we will not run a lot of bluffs here + we end up not folding the best hand otr. which would time to time happen if we call. Though if people are inccapble folding AK this will not end up good. Vs. population he will run to 77, QQ here the majority of the time

It would feel stupid making a fold with a hand that high in my range but I feel that this nitt population doesn't start bluffing much on such spots.. Maybe should be explo folding vs. some people tbh..

Think again here the turn lead is somewhat Jx heavy range usually, would be too laggro to expect bluffs there anyhow hard to find fold otr. once at top of my range and blocking the hearts.

QQ I would find a fold, AK I don't get there so what to call the river with?
