On top of that, the range you’re trying to make fold is his one pair value hands, ie AA AQ. So having an ace is pretty bad as it skews his value range towards two pair/sets a little more.

Also A6ss can call turn getting decent direct odds + good implied + it’s live poker your opponent is going to shut down with worse fairly often and you will win with your pair of sixes. I think when you’re bluffing vs any non elite live poker player you want to do it with hands that do well when they make standard folds, rather than hands that require a good, thoughtful fold from your opponent. Again this is why I’d rather be bluffing with ten or king high. That’s a pretty general point but I think it is reasonably sound advice for mid-high stakes live cash.
Thanks for the input bud, and I agree with a lot of what you say. I think we can find a couple of other combos to bluff OTT, this one just unnecessary! Not as bad as the KQs hand from the MTT mind you

Your other points I don't contest at all so I'd still agree with your conclusion, just thought I'd point that out.
Yeah the blockers work the other way, block hands like 66, 76s, AJ and AA. Having said that I think xc turn best option.

...fighting is not something I have any interest in. Nothing good can come from it. He's a wee guy (not saying that to needle, but he is), and if I somehow lose, it's just an extreme negative freeroll. Plus what if I got seriously hurt, or if I seriously hurt him? Is it really worth going through that because he was offended about something I said on the internet? I have no interest in this, and I find the whole thing just cringeworthy.

WAHEYYYYYYYY!

Poker still going really badly last few days, can't make a fkn pair anywhere! Played some 5/10 to stem the variance and still lost 500bb over last 2 sessions in actually really good games. Couple of annoying coolers but not much else to write home about.

Me, bbissick and another BTS student who will be talked about a lot in this blog (I'll call him F as I don't know if he wants me to call him by his first name or not itt) went to play some BJ at the Encore at around 6pm. By 11pm I was home in bed utterly ****faced and having to fall asleep sitting up. Double sex on the beaches will do that to you. I'm absolutely certain my Uber driver stole a big mac off me on the way home when we went through the drive thru last night too! Today I went for a BBQ with a bunch of BTS guys and their friends (they're literally all millionaires haha) and to watch the Germany game. Absolute scenes at the end when they scored. I played some RunItThrice with bbissick and F and I won around $1.1k bzzzzzzzt. Tempted to fire the Monster Stack tomorrow as it's an extreme freeroll...

Off to see the Cirque show at Bellagio tonight, then back to the grind tomorrow...

Insane swings lately, delighted to stop the rot today with the first winning day in 7 attempts. Played a pretty good 5/10 game at The Wynn and just ran really well overall. Last 5 or 6 days I've had no opportunities to valuebet, and had no opportunities to bloat pots preflop with AA/KK. Thankfully in today's sesh I got to valuebet a bunch of rivers and a couple of times 4bet pre w AA etc. SOME HANDS!

So there's a hand going on with this English reg and an American regfish looking fella. American reg has bet the river on 599ssxTsKs and been raised pretty big. He's in seat 7, a New York guy who gives no ****s in seat 8, and hero in seat 9. After about 5 mins seat 8 calls clock. Seat 7 is bewildered. Floor comes over and hasn't even started the clock and he starts shouting at seat 8 saying "what you think I got nothin'?! You think I'm taking my time here with a ****ty hand?!" and then shows 55. I start explaining it's a perfectly legitimate clock call and the strength of his hand doesn't matter. He is really upset and continues saying that because of his actual hand he should have unlimited time. Seat 8 starts telling him of a similar hand history he had the day before (all the while the clock is ticking down and seat 7 dgaf about seat 8's HH). It's total chaos and eventually he goes "I don't know what to do and I got no time so I call." and calls. English guy has K9s and obv the guy is livid. Calls a few people an ******* and is just generally raging, particularly at me and seat 9. I'm giving no ****s and have no sympathy for him because of how he's acting. Anyway a few hands later and the English guy opens to 30, seat 8 raises CO to 110 and I wake up w AhAx in the SB. I cold 4bet to 360 (from a 2400 stack), he calls. Flop is J64hss. I cbet 550 into into 800 coz **** pio here. He calls and the turn is 5h. I jam the rest in and he immediately asks for a count. He gets the dealer to confirm like 4 times and at this point I'm literally convinced he has top set and is trying to get some payback for the last hand. He eventually mucks and I exhale loudly and go "phew" and smile to seat 8, show the Ah and rake it in. **** him.

Another fun hand, there's an Asian American rec in the game and he can't stop calling rivers with second best hands. It's clear he's getting pipped to it a few times but some obv fishy calls in there too. Anyway I open A3ss in MP and he calls BB. I tell him if he x's dark I'll bet dark (a bit overconfident from myself here due to how I'm running). He obliges and I bet 40 into 75 dark. Flop is 334r looooool. He snap calls and I tell him if he xs dark again I'll bet dark. He obliges and I blast out 200. Turn 5bdfd. He calls quickly and river Kx. He x and I bet 400. He eventually folds and ofc I show. Next orbit I open A6cc and tight American rec calls SB, same guy calls BB. I tell them both if they x I'll bet dark. SB is like "you just flopped trips with that strategy I ain't lettin ya!" good bants all round. Flop comes down A65hhs. I bet 90 into 180, only BB calls. Turn 4s, I bet 220 into 360, he calls. River 4x and I bet 450, he says he turned the world and can't fold now and calls w ATss. We'll take it!

One more fun hand to finish. There's a dude at the Wynn who buys into 5/10 for 25k+. First time I saw him I expected him to be a mammoth whale, just loads of bling, buying in for 10x everyone else, older American guy etc. He's actually quite tight and defo one of the better recs I've played with. Anyway he doesn't do much limping, and he limps UTG, UTG+1 who's a solid TAG from NY makes it 40, I'm UTG+3 and wake up w AA again. I put the absolute sneak flat in there, 2 others call, folds back round to UTG and honest to God I thought he was getting ready to pop it. Unfortunately he just flats. Flop is QT2r. Original isolater bets 200 into 240, only I call. Turn is a brick that brings a bdfd, and he bets like 500 into 640. Not loving it but not hating it either, I call. River beautiful Ax. He x, I bet 1100 and after a minute I swear to God I thought he was about to jam but mucks. Woulda been a gross spot if he ripped.

Finished +$4837, really pleasing to finally book a win! I got 14 days left to go, hopefully get back to consistently winning and back in dem 10/20 streets now!

Bits and pieces, got into the Bellagio early today so I could watch the Argentina game. Put £100 on Argentina to win the World Cup at 20/1 while they were drawing 1-1. Bargain

Strange day today. I was down 2k, then up 4.5k, then up 1500, then up 3500, and finished up $1455 over an 8 hour session. Got into the must-move game and it was tragic, then after a while it literally got amazing, and 5 mins after it got amazing I had to move. Super tilting but just grinded it out. Was down around 2k without doing much wrong, and then won my biggest pot in a while. 10/20 with a round of straddles, UTG nit opens to 120, spewy reg calls, whale calls BTN and I make it 520 in straddle w QsQx. Only the spewy reg calls. My mate had given me reads on him via text that he was super loose/calling station. Flop is 9s8s4x. I cbet like 500 into 1300, he calls. Turn 2x. I bet 1200, he calls. River 6x, I shove for 2500 and have never been so delighted to fade the snap in my life. He calls after a minute and I show and win.

Bled down in a rly rly rly good game for hours, just no pairs/sets/missed all my draws etc. Then played a hand where I opened AJdd in CO, SB reg 3bets, I call. Flop J62ssx. He cbets 1/3, I call. Turn As, he x and I bet 660 into like 900, he calls. River fkn Jx and I bet around 1600 and he tank folds. Last hand, there's a straddle on, drunk guy limps UTG, I isolate +1 (won't say what I had), unknown Asian rec makes it 200, I call. Flop J65hhx. He cbets smallish, I call. Turn 4x, he bets 1200 and I call again. River Kh and I x, he is tanking for like 1min and the drunk guy calls clock. Asian guy is like lolwat and the drunk guy is like cmon man hurry it up. Pretty sure he was gonna bet and I wasn't folding and thankfully he was like fk it and x'd JJ. Saved me like 3k haha. Won't say what I had, but it woulda been ambitious

Finished up $1450. Got 13 days of grinding left, wanna make 20k in that time! Also gonna try vlog on Friday in preparation for another month in Vegas in October

Shoutout to my buddy Ollie (he asked me to write this).

Also played football with Kristy Arnett tonight. In a team of 8 guys and her she was like our 3rd best player. She's fkn brill.

Haha I rate this banter, well played. Boneku gets it!

Yesterday was possibly one of the funnest days of poker I've ever played. This could be a long un, I'll try keep it condensed. Start of by saying I won approx $11,500 in cash games.

So I get to the Bellagio, there is 1x20/40 running with literally 8 rocks, and 2 10/20 games that look super average. I'm waiting for like 30 mins and BigAisAOK (that's a bastard to type out every time, from now on he'll just be referred to as Phil) is texting me about the WSOP TagTeam event that's on. I'm llllllllliiterally on my way out of the Bellagio when they start to open a new 10/20. I sit at it and don't even get to play it coz I'm first on the must-move. Get moved to the 2nd must-move and the game is actually decent. There's a Spanish reg in the game who can't stop bluffing and can't stop reloading, as well as a couple of spots. Twice in the first few orbits I 3bet KK and flopped top set. I'm up around 1k and the confidence of the "45k in a week" part of the trip starts coming back. I then get JTcc in SB, my good buddy F opens CO, I 3bet to 200, and this nitregthing who has barely played a hand makes it 560. We're about 5200 deep so I call. Flop J93cxx. He bets like 40% pot and I call. Turn 2c. He bets like 1200 here and again I call. River 7c. OTT I suddenly realised how subconsciously not strong I had been acting, something I of course need to work on. Anyway I x and he jams and I double check my hole cards and snap call. He sheepishly turns over AA and we scoop a 10.3k pot. Not much else happened after that, I consistently won small to medium sized pots and chipped up to 7.2k profit. We then went for a bite to eat and when I came back the table was still good but I'm disappointed to say I got really loose and a bit spewy. At +4370 for the sesh I called it a day.

Phil and I had agreed to play the Tag Team if we were both up a decent amount at cash for the day. I text him and he replied saying he was also up a few pennies so me, F and bbissick (who will now be called JP) got an uber to the Rio. There's only a couple of levels left of late reg so I'm in a bit of a hurry. I go into Kings Room, frantically looking for Phil and trying to call him etc. I finally see him, go over to his table, jokingly kick him on the foot and say "c'mooooon, reg closes very soon!" and honest to God he goes "err gaz 1 sec", whole table is looking at me like I'm the biggest cocksocket on the planet. Won't give any numbers but Phil has just made a rather healthy river bet and the other guy is deep in the tank and the whole table is being all quiet and respectful, I was absolutely mortified! Thankfully the guy called the river and Phil wasn't bluffing, so he raked it in and wasn't mad at me as a result!

Tag Team of legends...

...even tho Phil is a PLO player I'd still rate his NLHE game to be better than mine in live MTTs, so I'm texting him the first few hands I play etc. He's literally like "err that's probably not great" (code for "ffs why did I just burn $500 with this whale) etc. Anyway we reg with blinds at 2/400 with 10k stack. I run it up to approx 17k and I'm feeling good about it. I open JJ UTG+3 to 900, UTG+4 calls, and BTN makes it 4k w 8k behind. Would fold Ts and would snap jam Qs, Js kinda meh but decided shove was ok. Run into Dean and Josh (that's weird gazzy, ben and smit code for aces for some reason) and he holds despite a 79Tbdfd flop. I text Phil and he calls himself the short stack ninja and wants to be tagged in. Happily oblige and he gets our 11bb stack in BTN vs CO w A9hh vs QJo. We've got 3 outs after the flop, and the dream is over a mere 1 hour into it. Was a lot of fun regardless, nobody I'd rather have on my team

Spoiler:
well maybe Fedor Holz but w/e

...aimlessly wandering around Rio begging Phil for forgiveness for the JJ hand and then F texts me and tells me there's a good 10/25 running. I go over and there's 8 players in the game and a RESERVED button and a player card in the empty seat. The big rec in the game remembers me and I ask if there's a seat open. Rec is like "this one is locked but f this guy just take the seat". I look at the dealer and she gives me a look of "i literally dgaf what you do". Eventually we said that I would just play until the guy came back and if he still wanted the seat I'd pick my stack up and be first on the list. As I'm getting chips however he comes back and takes his card, and I get into a godly 10/25/50 game. I insta lose a big pot to JP where he opens 75s UTG, I call UTG+1 w XX, and he bet/bet/bets on K62sxx4s3s, I call river and he goes "I got the nut............................................... ......... straight". I mean who even says that, just turn the fkn cards over I was a bit tilted and reloaded to like 6500. Get some back, and I'm in the game for 8400 when it happens. Tight reg in his mid 30s opens UTG+1 7 handed. I 3bet TT from BTN to 500, he pops it to 1500. I call, praying to flop a set. The poker gods give me one better, and the flop is T33r. ****in booya. Anyway he bets 1k into 3100, and I call (way too quickly fyi). Turn 6x and in my head I'm like "right gaz you called flop way too quick you're gonna have to slow down OTT"). As I'm thinking this he jams 5900 into 5100 (!!!!!!). I snap him off and show my cards and the word "twice?" comes out my mouth in a very high pitched tone. This very solid, super tight reg then says three of the most magical words I've ever heard in my life. "Once, I'm dead." River is another 3 and I scoop a $16.8k pot which I think is the biggest of my life. Absolute scenes.

Just before the big pot some rec put $3500 in pre w KJo and lost twice. As he's leaving he asks the table if they mind holding his seat for 30 mins while he goes to get more money. Whole table is like "NOOOOOOOOOO, TAKE YOUR TIIIIIIIME, SEE YOU WHEN YOU GET BACK!" (even the recs haha). So me and JP are leaving at the same time and have racked up our chips JUST as this guy comes back and sits down with chunks of cash. I feel like it'd be super cringe to unrack so I just get up and leave, and JP does the same. We grab my buddy Everest17 from his game and we get an uber over to Bellagio to meet Max85 who's just arrived. Max one of my favourite people I've met through poker, great guy with a lot of fun stories to tell. We go to Planet Hollywood for some beers and some degenning. Won't go into figures but I lost a bit, and the rest of the boys were down a fair bit and got back to even thankfully! At a BJ table at the end I put the remainder of my stack on and asked the boys to sit out while I did one HU hand. First hand I get 18 vs a dealers 9. She turns another 9. Ok, not the worst, let's go again. Get another 18 vs a 5. She turns a 7. Then a 2. Then a 4. We're all screaming blue murder for paint but she doesn't oblige. Two pushes, I tell her to run it again. I get 9, there's an ace in the windass. She's like "insurance?" and I'm all positive vibey and "no, you don't have it, turn it over Abbey, let's go baby". She checks for blackjack and as she looks down she looks up at me and I'm like aww ffs Abbey pls no and she turns over the bad news. On the plus side the boys bought me a sympathy sandwich before we came home! Fun, fun times. Goes without saying the gambling losses were minimal, just a bit of fun. No more pit games this trip tho!

Edit - I'm well aware it looks like I have a raging stauner in the tag team pic haha, was just THAT excited to play.
