Murricans and their expectation of getting tipped after doing crappy jobs always gets to me

Dealers who complain about tips generally infuriate me and I tip them less knowing they’ll **** off in 30 minutes. I’ve seen some truly out of line behaviour by some dealers (notably at the bellagio).

Dealers want the credit when they deal a jackpot hand but don't want any grief from players when dealing brutal bad beats, dat dissonance.

the whole tipping culture is fkn ******ed.

if you want to charge more, just raise the fkn prices

The other night at aria the dealer sarcastically said “well thanks a lot for the 7 dollars guys” whilst shaking his head and leaving the table lol.

Also that doesn’t seem the best way to play 99 imo, if your assumptions are correct. 99 not in good shape vs sets and flush draws especially given the fact they he will also have 2 overcards or combo draws. I think I’d call flop and call none heart/ace turns.

Lets say they don't have, and they are not happy with the pay after tips, just leave then or negotiate more salary, don't expect me to pay out of sympathy if I'm not required to. The whole thing is so std american ******ness.

yeah I understand and I don't disagree but I'm just thinking from their point of view they are expecting X amount of tip on average and when they get a lot less they're disappointed because expectations weren't met

My favourite thing about Vegas was paying $10 for a bottle of **** beer and having to tip $1 for the guy doing his job and opening it as I wouldn't get served again otherwise. I could've opened it myself for free, mate.

I worked for quite a long time in hospitality finance and have a love/hate relationship with the concept of tipping. In many ways it is a great measure of success, in some ways it is unfair, and it almost always breeds entitlement, which is a bad thing.

Those exceptional employees that realize they are entitled to nothing, give incredible service regardless, and repeat day in and day out even for low expectation tipping customers...these guys make quite a bit of money and can move up in the ranks doing some really unique gigs in the hospitality space.

For the other 90% that think tips are a standard part of their wage (and don’t do anything other than show up for work) yea, it’s a bit irksome.

Again though, would you rather pay $15 rake and have no tipping (and still wavering service levels), or $5 rake and you decide which dealers get which dollars. As someone who builds the budgets, I can assure you that if the labor isn’t tipped, all of your costs as a consumer will be slightly higher. The business does not eat labor cost.

There’s give and take, and the tipping model in the service industry has its place, imo. Honestly a huge part of it is lack of training.

Ya American tipping system doesn’t really seem defensible. It’s understandable dealers can be frustrated with low tips but snide sarcastic comments doesn’t seem the way to go.

Everyone complains rake is too high, but doesn't want to tip... which would make rake even higher.....
