Hello everyone again,

so I just wrapped up my other PGC. This one I will start with a little more introduction of myself!

My name is Thomas, in my early 30ies from Austria. I have been playing poker since 2009. Got decent, made extra cash while I was a student by playing up to NL100, but turned to playing recreationally when I started working in advertisement. Thats what I did until 2018, a year that changed some things for me. In late 2018 I quit my job (with the possibility to return) and went traveling in India with my cousin for a few months. I stayed from January to May, had a great time and decided that after a few months in Austria, working some and saving more before I would return to India, which I did in September. In May 2019 I put €100 to my favourite site and started playing there, next to working as a bicycle delivery driver. From this deposit I grinded up my roll, which I am playing up to NL200 with now.

This year I was renting a friends spare room, living there with my cat and grinding it out. So far I am up roughly 30k from January to July, which I am very happy with. My way to check if poker is the way to go at this point of my life is that I want cash out at least what I would have earned in my job, and I was successful at that so far and have an alright cushion.

Right now
At the moment I am staying in Varna, Bulgaria with Björn from Norway, who plays MTTs. Itīs my first poker house and pretty nice
We arrived 3 weeks ago, didnīt get in much volume cause drinking and going out lots etc. but am up an ok amount so far.

We played some afternoon HU on our porch yesterday and I have a nice hand to share. For the setting: I heard about scandis before that they are maniacs, and Björn proved that, he pushed it pretty much anytime he could lol

We were playing with Bulgarian coins as chips, but agreed on playing 0.1/0.2$ stakes. So 1 Leva = 10 Dollar and BB was 2 stotinka.

This was a 600bb pot:

Spoiler:

we are both ~300bb deep, action was: I open J8s, B 3bets, I 4b

Flop is 973

I cbet about 30bb into 50bb, B ch/r to 75BB, I call

Turn: T

B shoves

We ran it twice, but he was drawing dead with his 76o.. which is why there are 6 cards in case anyone wonders ^^

Goals
So at the moment my primary goal is to get back on the grind. There are 21 days left in August and I will aim low: I want to play at least 60h of poker in that time. Traffic is low at the moment at my mainsite, but in the evenings itīs ok and I started playing at the chico network and trying some of the apps now.
I am not sure how much I want to define a long term goal, but a thing in the back of my head is that as a way out of poker Iīd like to get a pilots license and possibly become a commercial pilot at one point in my life, because I donīt want to ever go back to the office grind if possible. Would have to save up about 100k to do so. Letīs see

For all of you that made it this far reading, two pictures of our garden cat. Her name is Miezi. She joined me the first day when I had breakfast outside and I started buying her food because I am a total cat person:

thanks guys!

First session is in the books, and I can win hands again. Also stopped playing terribly, just feeling more confident again and not afraid to run into better hands again and again and again.

Took me 1:25 hours, then tables died and I still have some sleep to catch up with after a long weekend.

vs active, hard to play reg, he doesnīt squeeze very much. Was thinking long and hard about betting this flop, but decided checking back is the way to go.

update time!

Just came back from the casino where I went for some fun live play and beers. Well, guess I shoudlnīt have left the online tables where I am still running pretty good, while in this game here I am just not (so far)

So I am down 550€ at 1/2 live today but still up overall for the day. Lost money 3 barreling my KTs on a dry QJ532 runout against a reg that called each and every of my opens in position. Once he rivered trips against my toppair, and I guess I could have check folded instead of calling but thought he is capable of bluffing as well. Once i made the nuts against a 30bb stack (yay!)

The last hand of the night I opened J2s from the HJ (yes thatīs pretty bad but I got a little bored and was planning to leave anyway )
always call reg called the BU, SB called, BB folds

Flop is 922 rb
i bet 18 in 32, goes call call
turn is a K
SB checks, I check hoping for the BU reg to do something stupid but he checks back
River is a 5, still no flush possible

SB bets 25 in 86, I raise to 100
he asks how much I am playing (had ~250), and I already start laughing inside at myself making a donkeycall there on the river in case he shoves (but probably would have folded)
anyway... he just called and showed 52o for the rivered boat. WP sir!

It was the second time I went to this casino and first session I was down 400 as well, but then we played 1/3 NLHE and 2/2 PLO switching every orbit. First session I also split once when I got it in with KK vs QQ and luckily ran it twice, lost flush under flush (but should have folded the river) and the only time I made the nuts in PLO the fish had the same nuts. What to do?

Had some good days playing online though. Went on the tourney grind on sunday and won 2k $ final tabling a $55 and winning a $11 turbo. Cash games I am also up about 800€ today and a few k for the month. So everything is fine.
Had a big whale at NL100 table today and want to share some hands with you guys. In theory they are probably played horribly, but this guy just doesnīt have a fold button lol

So this is how my session started:

This is not against the whale but another bad player that wouldnt fold Ax there, sometimes they have it though

So yea, these hands against the whale arenīt played good in a theory sense, but I guess this players mindset is that betting and raising is weak, as he donks and gets it in with air a lot, and he doesnīt learn and doesnīt seem to give a single **** about losing these amounts, as he always says nice hand after getting in 200bb with about 0.5% equity

Played approximately 20 hours since setting the goal of 60 hours until the month ends. Should be doable.

Had the first losing day in a while. Went to bed early last night and woke up at 6am feeling very fresh. So after coffee I started an MTT session. Regged only ten MTTs though and bricked all of them. Down 260$ there. Just lost every flip and then busted the last 4 tourneys always getting it in with 80-90%.
I opened cashgames as I busted tourneys and lost another 500$ at NL100 and 200. Must be because I cashed out yesterday.

Still was a good day. Afterwards I did some theory work, had a nap. Reviewed the session of a friend. Did some more theory work and then went for a long walk to the "monument of soviet-bulgarian friendship" thats 5km from our house.

Played another session just before and made a little money back. Will grind some more to clear some rakeback for the day after dinner.

And a hand for the day. Playing 3handed with 2 fish.

Here we go! Update time

Björn left our little grindhouse today. Going to be spending two more weeks alone here and this time really get on the grind I hope.

The pokersite of things since coming to Bulgaria can be summed up as "low volume, high reward" which is lucky of course, but it canīt be like that forever.
I think I hit the goal set in the last post for playing 60 hours in the rest of the month, playing the usual cashgames but also some MTT sessions.

Hey everyone,

came back to Austria on saturday. Staying with my parents at the moment and looking where to go next. Thinking about Turkey, as someone showed me a nice place there but maybe also Portugal. Will see. Just trying not to get stuck in lockdown. The longterm plan is to go back to India when they allow tourists in again. Maybe Cambodia for this winter..

Got back in the grindmood here at least. Today was my first day of hardcoregrind and I planned to play at gg for the rush and cahs leaderboard. Seems to have been a fkn bad idea, and I really mean that. Itīs lucky I just played NL50 because BB wise this was the worst day of the year, and probably of all time for me. Down 20 stacks prerake, and 25 total. It was just amazing... I think I lost to runner runner like 4 or 5 times when villains check called flop with 2% equity. Couldnīt win any flips, not even once when we ran it twice. When I hit the board, it would run out terribly for me to get value. When I had Aces or Kings everyone folded preflop etc etc etc

I just want to moan a lot about this

I took 3 or 4 breaks throughout the day because I felt the tilt coming on. Came back with a fresh mindest but within ten minutes Iīd be down 2 stacks again every time. In the afternoon I though about just calling it quits and giving up on the leaderboard, but I made myself push through, and things just didnīt improve. Just brutal. So now I think I am calling it a day. Will get up early tomorow to grind through the happy hour and hopefully at least get a little back of what i lost... and afterwards get drunk with a friend to forget the trauma of today

Hereīs the graph:

This hand tilted me so hard i punched something.. At least could have had tens or aces and not hit the one outer.

Went back to the regtable grind. They even have a daily leaderboard there too now at gg. But the rake is too damn high even with this. So I will focus on the austrian site still when games are running there.

NL50 regtable graph so far.

Trying to grind out a roll from what I have in my gg account. Iīm actually still okish rolled to play the NL200€ games as well, but after a kind of expensive and punty (but very fun) stay in Bulgaria I am trying to make some nitty and sound financial decisions again and just grind it out at NL50 and 100 mostly for now. Shouldnīt take me too long with the right focus.

Then two hands later:

SB posts SB 0.5 BB, Hero posts BB 1 BB

Both these defends arenīt something I would normally do, but against minraises, and a bad player... In the first hand I am testing the waters a bit. Second hand I discussed a lot with Shipnickle. He prefers ch/c turn and ch/? depending on V sizing etc, because our hand has too much showdown value against a lot of his checkbacks.
I think my thought behind playing my hand like this is that this combo is absolute bottom of my range (preflop). On turn he could be calling worse. I feel his river raise will be a more merged range and some pure bluffs like JT/T8, because I took this line with 7 high two hands before. So I just rip it because he will fold so much there. I donīt think he will checkback AK, A7, 77 or 22 on the flop. So that leaves AA, KK and 1 combo of 99 for him to call. Maybe some K7/K2 but that he probably folds as well....

He tank folded, so I am pretty sure he had some decend sd value, at least Ax.

What you guys thinking of this?

Yeah, you were getting a touch creative there Thomas.
I see your logic with your re raise on the river, it worked at least.
I'm scratching my head to put him on a hand. maybe an A with small kicker. Possible FD on the river, missed and tried a bluff? Also hit a 9 on the turn, who knows!
