Re: The Grind is Real

So I've put my stats out there for those of you more adept than I at 6 max to pick apart. Feel free to give any criticisms or suggestions on what you see. It's definitely a large enough sample to show any glaring issues so please, fire away. I'm a sponge.

It's nice when you get redemption so soon after losing AA v AK. I wanted to tell you as I watched it happen that it had just happened to me the day before and that when the K on the turn hit I knew it was coming on the river. Lol

At least your V had a BDFD, lol . I was even blocking the nut spades, and yeah, when the K came ott, I was like, "here it comes".

Seriously, that guy was wrecking me the other day, but I got a good chunk back from him today getting pretty lucky and running above EV.

    Re: The Grind is Real

Haven't been feeling well since Saturday night and haven't played much. I did play some PLO and won a few decent pots. Top set of QQ held vs a wrap on a Q9x board for a 500+BB pot. I should probably upgrade PT4 to include Omaha because I'm pretty sure I'm turning a nice profit playing it and have won and lost some fun hands I'd like to go back and review.

Anyway, a day or two off from playing to recover from whatever I have will do me well. Will post some thoughts later on regarding how I think I can improve to meet my first benchmark of moving up to 5NL by May.

    Re: The Grind is Real

So 50-75k more hands at 2NL and to be grinding 5NL in May is the goal. My plan is to get a steady winrate of at least 10BB/100 over that sample.

Things I've realized I need to work on are when to slam on the breaks and stop trying to win every pot, specifically otr. Basically bluffing less and stationing less when V's have shown an obvious interest in their hand. Secondly, I need to eliminate some of my 4b bluffs. They're costing me a lot of NSD winnings.

The third point I'm curious as to what would happened if I just started cbetting more flops instead of delayed cbetting. My turn cbet is higher than my flop cbet % in every position. I think it's a subconscious exploitation of the field, but not sure, tbh.

The next thing I've noticed, and it's something that confuses me a large majority of the time, is people donk the flop from the blinds when I've opened from MP or later. It happens quite a bit and I normally just end up folding which I think might be a leak.

Lastly, and hoping to get some responses on this next point, how do you handle hit and run players? I have several people marked as hit and run artists where they literally win(or lose) one pot and sit out. That's something that has always tilted me for some reason. I know it is a player's free will to get up from a table and leave whenevery they want. If I know that is their M.O. it's usually been my strategy to just not give them much action because I know if I lose, it's unlikely I'm going to get any action from them, but it's difficult sometimes when they are at every table. I would love to hear other's thoughts on that topic. I hope people don't view me in that light since I only play for shorter periods whether or not I'm winning or losing, 2 hours at a time is the norm for me.

Those are just a few things I was pondering while I close out my work day. Hope everyone who's taking the time to read this is doing well and are crushing whatever stakes you play!

Thanks and definitely will! . Funny you say that because I thought that very same thing last I saw you at the tables. How have you been doing?

Some hands from yesterday. First one, I thought button was steaming and BB was just GII pre with any two; fun times . So I felt like I had some FE or may have been ahead sometimes here(oops).

Short session this morning. 350 hands, -$2.30. Not really happy with the way I played. One table had a 70/2 on it which are really rare. Wanted to stay longer but have to go to work.

Last evening, played another 87 hands, -$2.16.

    This AM, 405 hands, +$2.11.

I haven't put the volume in so far I would have liked, but being a little under the weather and decreasing tables will do that. The goal is 10+BB/100 over the next 50-75k hands, so we are certainly looking for more quality decisions and less spew. I want to focus on making the best decisions I can in each spot instead of auto-piloting. After the start I had to the month, 8530 hands in and I'm showing a small profit, so I can't be too disappointed.

Doing alright. Started playing 10NL on Ignition and so far so good. I started to dabble a little in 5NL on ACR and can't see much of a difference between 2NL and 5NL on there. I decided to change my approach for ACR a bit but still unsure how I'm going to go about it. I'm leaning towards just skipping 2NL and starting at 5NL.

    Re: The Grind is Real

Nice man. I'm following really conservative BRM so if I hit my goal over the next month and a half, I'll be playing 5NL soon enough. I also watched Alec Torelli's video the other day about game theory vs exploitative play and some light bulbs went off for me. Check that out, maybe itll help, maybe it wont. Most of it refers to live poker but i think it certainly apply online, as well.

Keep it rolling on Ignition though!

    Re: The Grind is Real

So recently what I have been working on is losing less in pots with regs who it's tough to win $ from and focusing more on getting involved in pots with the...well let's just get to the hands.

    Obviously not a GTO move.

A high was the nuts. .

I'm not quite sure how the jackpot works, tbh. I think you have to register for it; I only skimmed over the details so I'll defer to the instructions on ACR's page.

And thanks, had a decent session this AM.
