I guess when looking at success rate eating well and putting in good volume when available to do so is the only real areas I'm able to shout home about, however have an amazing trip to discuss...
BRAZIL TRIP REPORT
Can't under state how much of an amazing time I had out in Rio - however one takeaway is that I wouldn't want to go back there any time soon/ Felt like a very dangerous place with so many scare stories regarding violence and thefts, I think I did it in the best way possible being part of a big group (there were roughly 35 of us) who were all looking out for one another, travelling in groups to stay safe.
Previously mentioned that the poker playing would be minimal - obviously I should have realised this was going to be a total lie
satellites for the £10k were overlaying huge and running multiple times a day, however this information isn't available online so did multiple sprints for late reg to see how they were doing for numbers.
Did find a way to satellite into the main, where I finished roughly 80th, I think 57 were paid. Had a spot for heaps which worked out pretty rough, we return from break and the player sat next to me is sure that some had stole roughly 5bb from his stack (he had about 50bb). He was refusing to play hands, shouting at the TD, swearing, kicking off, tilting his tits off. Mid commotion I look down at Kings and open, this guy 3bets huge, I jam just about covering him and he has AA - obv prob plays out this way if he's not shouting and swearing, just feels even dirtier with this going on (funnily enough he no longer argued about the 5bb he lost after this hand
)
I did however find a final table in a side event, the $550 win the button. Played the final two tables with Julio Baptista which was super interesting as he discussed how much pressure was on him debuting for Brazil at the age of 18, and how he really struggled with the expectation that was forced upon him. I then hit the final table with the man himself Phil Hellmuth - I got someone to take a picture of the FT with us stood up, however the woman decided to take a panorama of the 4 people sat down cutting the rest of us out of it
I ended up with a 5th place finish for $4.5k, nice to add a Brazilian flag to the Hendon Mob account, my first live cash since Vegas 2017.
Obviously had an absolute tonne of fun with the BitB lads, the first time I've met pretty much all of them (with the exception of a couple) despite having been with BitB for near enough 6/7 years now. It helps so much putting a face to these screen names and made me realise that I love this community and must ensure I help them out as much as I can - I hadn't really considered before how it can feel intimidating reaching out to guys in BitB, asking fo ropinion on hands or whatever who have been around for longer than you, I feel like one of my biggest strengths is how I'm a super approachable guy, I just need to make sure this translates to online as sometimes I'm a bit laxxed with getting back to messages or whatever when I have no real excuse to be this way.
An amazing experience out in Rio, managed to do plenty of fun stuff despite playing 6/10 days (including an online Sunday session) such as wakeboarding at the Lagoon, going to Sugarloaf Mountain, eating Steak pretty much every single day and visiting Escadarion Seleran (the colourful tiled steps).
A big couple of months coming up, Been super ill since I've returned fro Rio for the past 7 days but I think I'm finally improving, look forward to getting back into a routine of meditating, studying, working out and grinding, do have some fun stuff coming up this month, mostly revolving around the football team I support Wolves (managed to secure tickets for the FA Cup Semi Final at Wembley, unfortunately it falls on Sunday but felt this was too great of an opportunity to miss).
