Going from NL5z to NL100z in 2018 Going from NL5z to NL100z in 2018

Hey 2+2, I've already posted a thread here, which was a little challenge, in which I instantly went on a massive downswing so I just got it deleted, because it was honestly just an embarrassment for this Forum and for me I'm new to this stuff, but I still want to give it a try so please bear with me.

Who am I?
My name is Dominik and currently I study mechanical engineering in Germany. I am 23 years old and I've been playing poker for about 2 years now (with no success at all). So I want to make 2018 the year where I turn it around and win at poker consistently.

My journey so far in Poker
As I said, I started about 2 years ago playing for fun in microstakes tournaments with no knowledge about the game at all, but I wanted to continue playing and maybe become a winner someday so I watched streams, bought some software, subscribed to a coachingsite and got a Coach last year aswell. After the Coaching I went from NL2z to NL25z in a matter of ~8 months, while I always had a very loose bankrollmanagement, which eventually ended disastrous a month ago. I played NL25z with ~20 buyins and I lost 5 buyins in 10 minutes, which made me go on a hot fiery monkeytilt and go up the stakes to try and get it back. So after 3 hours I was completely broke and I felt like I wasn't even part of this world, because of the pain that I was feeling and being so disappointed in myself, because I knew it was 100% my own fault. After that I really had only 2 options: Quit Poker forever or come back for one last shot and work my ass off. So I deposited $100 two weeks ago and started playing NL5z again with the plan to move down to NL2z, if I drop below $75. So far, this is my progress:

Planning to shot some NL10z later and see how it goes.

Goals for 2018

-Improve my mental game, so I don't punt off stacks randomly

-Work hard on my game, so I become a decent Player

-Practice proper Bankrollmanagement once I reach stakes, that are hard to beat for me

-Play NL100z as my regular game

-Go to the Gym consistently

If you're reading this, you probably read everything so thank you for your time. I will talk about my progress at least once a week here, so I hope some people will find this interesting

Thanks for the kind words Henry, it means a lot to me to hear that from you

I took some shots at NL10z and it didn't really go my way. But I don't want to cry about that too much, but rather focus on things that I can control, because I also didn't play well. I was overC-betting the turn a ton and was overall just too aggressive in the wrong spots. Also I played 4 tables even though I know that I can only perform my A-Game while playing 2 tables. Another mistake that I made was to play too long (7k hands yesterday was simply too much for me) and I also played when I just woke up (can't focus in the morning) and I also played when I was too tired and tilted, but I didn't quit. I guess it would be healthy, if I only study for the weekend and not play at all. And on monday I will play NL5z again and will try to avoid making the same mistakes again. I will just take it as it is and learn from it and hopefully it will reflect in my results next week.

This is NL10z

And this NL5z and NL10z combined

Good luck at the tables and thanks for stopping by, cheers.

Overall-graph

So after I went on a small downswing, which affected my play and my confidence I decided to play low volume for the last couple of days and study. I got the feeling that I got better now and I definitely made progress in mental game because I almost always played my A-game last few days so that's awesome. Will switch to NL10z only again and see how I'm doing now. Feeling very confident and motivated to take those guys at NL10z down. However, I will go back to NL5z again, if things don't go my way.
Hopefully I won't tilt again

Have a nice day guys and good look at the tables

Ok boys I was really busy with Uni last weeks and couldn't play too much but now there's only one exam left at the end of February and after that I'll use march for poker only. Can surely grind 1-2k hands a day from now on and update more regularly. Also my NL10 shot went poorly to say the least, so I'm just going to accept that and move back to NL5 again. Will post overall graph by the end of the week, Cheers guys

So February started pretty nice for me mostly playing NL5z, a little bit of NL10z and some insanely soft homegames (which went really well but are untracked). Here's a little update for february:

Feels pretty good to have such a great start after all that uni stuff, especially after my poor performance at NL10z overall:

Those results were obviously very disappointing considering that my NL5z graph looks like this:

So now I'm sitting on a $341 bankroll. Considering that I started at $100 about a month ago I can't really complain. So because I ran really well this week, I will play NL10z this weekend and hope for a little heater when the pool is soft, so I will never have to post my NL5z graph again. Of course, if I drop below $300 I will go back once again.

Feels like I'm posting too many graphs today but here are the overall results:

I'll try my best and work as hard as I can to get this NL5z to NL100z challenge done this year.

Once again thanks for your time and I wish you guys best of luck at the tables.

Thank you very much for the motivating words man. I really do appreciate it

So I've only played NL10z this weekend and I'm very satisfied with my results and with the way I've played. Usually I tilt pretty fast when I have sessions that are that swingy. In a matter of minutes I lost 5 buyins in pretty frustrating coolers and won them back later on when fish decided to throw money my way and every session this weekend was like this. You might laugh at me but this really gets to me, when I lose a few buyins in a short period of time. But I grinded my way through the ups and downs without tilting and I'm very proud that I was able to do so, because that's definitely a step forward for my mental game. I've also managed to get my NL10z graph to breakeven, which also means a lot to me and my confidence

NL10z

You can see those swings in the graph when you look at the last 7k hands. I know that there's a chance, that I catch another downswing and I might have to go back to NL5z, but I hope that I can get some momentum going and make some progress. I've also brought my bankroll up to $403, which is sweet aswell. So far February as been really good for me.

February NL5z and NL10z

and here are my 2018 overall results

I also purchased tiltbreaker a couple days ago which I will use to force myself to keep playing only 2 tables at once, because I start to miss spots when I play more than that. And I will use it to block all games for x amount of days when I feel like I need a break. That's a necessity that I block them because I know myself well enough that I will just play because of boredom, even though I know that I shouldn't be playing. So you might have already noticed that I lack discipline and I'm surely aware of that, but I know that I will overcome that, if I continue to work on myself. I think it's important that I'm very transparent with you guys and myself about my leaks so I can see them more clearly and work on them.

I will be back on Friday, but I want to give myself clear tasks that I want to do throughout this week and tell you whether or not I accomplished them. No huge goals or something like that because I'll mainly be studying for an exam.

-Workout 2 times
-1h studying poker every day
-2k hands every day (except for today)

Anyways, thank you guys for stopping by and reading my stuff. I wish you guys a good start of the week and good luck at the tables
