Whats up everyone,

Another day another PGC thread.

Background info

Giving poker another go. Used to play mid-high stakes PLO across the USA successfully, stakes ranging from mostly 5-10 to 25-50 with the occasional bigger games for much of 2010's.

Managed to coast and do well without much effort even though I had many many life leaks. Games were great and I ran well. I wont get into details but lets just say it all caught up to me a couple years ago and I busted a high 6 fig. roll in spectacular fashion. I never invested in any assets. I was a life fish. My life had turned upside down. Hit rock bottom I ended up moving back to my hometown and got a job for the first time in my life. It was a low wage job but it gave me responsibilities so it was exactly what I needed to rebuild myself. I had to learn how to be a functional human being .

Fast forward I got in the best shape of my life, keep a clean diet, stopped certain destructive habits, socialize and interact much more with other human beings and structured my daily life more optimally. Just became a more well rounded individual. I started playing poker again around 8 months ago at 25 PLO with a 1k roll. I grinded it up while working a job and now comfortably mix in 200 PLO. The rake is ridiculous but I guess its still possible to grind from micros. One of my best friends offered to stake me but I declined. Most would jump at the chance to be staked in very favorable terms at 2-5+ but I had some serious life + poker leaks I had to work out and I needed to do it the hard way.

Why am I starting this thread?

PGC is probably my favorite part of 2+2. I get alot of inspiration from posters here. I am a big-time lurker . I also have ZERO people I talk poker with in my life. My whole career I've been sort of lone wolf and that hasn't done me any favors. So it would be nice to talk shop here and there and and interact in the community more .

I'd also like to keep this thread going for accountability purposes. After COVID I lost the safety net of my day job which I am choosing to see as a blessing. It will give me more time to truly give poker a go. When I decided to get back to poker I was relentless. I was on a warpath on productivity and self-improvement. Fire is not shining as bright and I am starting to let go of the pedal a bit.

Im also older now and in order to achieve and get the things I want in my life I need to have more purpose. I don't wish to have poker as my only / main source of income in 3 years. One of the main things I'd like to work on is to PUT IN VOLUME. After going busto and failing the way I did I still feel the residual after effects. Sometimes I really need to force myself to even play. I am pretty gun shy now which I need to work on. But I'm sure over time I can discipline myself in that regard just like how I did with my diet and exercise.

Some goals

- Continue 5x HIT training a week
- Continue my strict diet and keep cheat meal + alcohol to max once a week
- 2 audibles a month
- Continue to improve my game on a daily basis (1 hour min)
- Play poker atleast 25 *quality hours a week then start to increase hours ( I really struggle with putting in volume )
- Reg and beat 5-10 by end of year, eventually the biggest PLO games that US games have to offer
- Add tournaments to the mix
- Stop donating to NL zone pool when I am bored
- Find something outside of poker as another source of income
- Continue to grow mentally and spiritually outside of poker
- Broaden my social network

Anywho, no thread is complete without a graph and some pokers hands from my last few sessions

Graph since I started tracking (25 PLO and most of 50PLO not included)

Stake breakdown (also missing 25PLO and a most of 50PLO )

Yeah I've started to change in that regard as well. Always wanted to do everything alone, now I can see everyone else getting ahead because working together is much faster and will net higher results in everything we do.

8 months to 200PL seems pretty nice. I just moved up to 50PL after 3 months so I guess putting in the work really pays out .

Good luck mate..

Feel your pain with the lack of volume on Ignition so hard to play only 4 regular tables for an extended period of time.

“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” - someone

I had alot of experience with PLO to begin with so it wasn't so bad for me to move up from the micros quickly. But yes, hard work always pays off!

Feeling shame in front of strangers on the internet is a much bigger motivator for me then $$ right now

Thanks. I just starting playing with solvers more recently and of course i watch videos on training sites etc.

Most beneficial thing for me personally to do is hand reviews. Studying populations tendencies and learning how to exploit how the player pool plays is probably where my biggest edge comes from. As i move up in stakes and regs get tougher im sure i will have to play a more balanced play style.

Even till this day it amazes me how much there is still to learn.

Thanks

I dont mind only playing only playing 4 tables as of now. I wanted to grow my bankroll the fastest way possible so I just chose just 1 site to do it on.

I do plan on depositing on other sites soon if i feel action starting to dry up as i move up.

Entitlement curse

I realize in some dark corner of my mind I feel entitled to win like all the time. When I have losing sessions it ends up effecting me more than it should shaking my fist at the sky deeming life unfair. This is poor mans mentality.

Nobody is entitled to anything. If you want something you have to go out and hustle for it because it wont just be given to you. (except for well...your born into certain situations etc). No excuses...nobody to blame but myself.

Last nights session didnt go so well. Dropped some buy-ins. Couldnt really get anything going and I made a couple errors. Overall game play : C-
