Hello players,
My name is Rob and I'm 35 from Toronto. I have a career job, wife of 10 years, 3.5 year old son and a baby girl on the way in April. All in all, life is good.
I have played poker in some form or another since I was like 12 years old, used to be home games with my Dad and Uncles for nickles and dimes. When the poker boom happened I was 'all in' as they say. We had a circle of about 20 guys and we'd play a tournament pretty much every night. From that circle I considered myself one of the top 3 players and the money I won helped me pay my rent and paid for entertainment. I actually bought my wife's engagement ring with poker winnings.
I've had some success in live tournaments, been to Vegas a couple times for some min-cashes and played north of the border but no real big scores.
Obviously life got in the way and I wasn't able to play as much, bought a house in the burbs to settle down. I still played mostly online for kicks but haven't taken it seriously for some time...until now.
My goal is to play in the WPT Niagara Fallsview event in late February. I'd like to buy-in with just my poker roll, but if I need to suplement that with 'real world' money I can do that. I use good BR management, but since I have a real job it's not the end of the world to me if I blow it all trying to make one major score. With the baby coming in April I figured life is over after that so if something is going to happen it must be before then, LOL.
I've been playing DoN sngs on Bodog with great success. I cash about 58% of the time and play 4 at once. Right now I'm playing $10.50 games but after about 900 or so showing a regular profit I'm ready to move up to the $21 games. With about 9 weeks to go until the start of February, at my current win rate I'd profit somewhere in the $300/week range for about $2400. Obviously that's not enough for the $5000 buy-in, so my plan is to play a MTT once a week with my (hopeful) winnings.
I'm a realest about this. I'm not counting on a career in poker, although a WPT title may change that. I just want to take that shot as I've got the time and the bankroll to do it.
I'm not much for posting so you won't see any hand histories, but I'll try to post after my sessions with my +/-.
Looking for some support and with any luck you'll see me on the WPT.
Rob
