Hi guys, I'm George.
Just going to keep it short and sweet, I've played poker for maybe 5 years, I enjoy using PIOsolver, and I currently work with D7sarmy stable.

A recent image of me at 'church';

It's quite easy to forget sometimes how lucky I've been with poker, and all the things it's lead into for me. With it coming up to Christmas, and for a few reasons this likely being one of the last months I put in any kind of serious volume, it seems like a good time to give something back to people who are less fortunate.

This month, I will give 25% of whatever I make at the tables to charity

With December being a hard month to get volume in with family commitments etc, I will also give $500 extra if I don't reach 30k hands.

For anyone interested in graphs, this is what I have in my current database from pokerstars, approx last 1.5 years.

I will be playing on stars at 100z, 200z a bit, but mostly euro sites. I plan to update regularly with hand histories, results etc, and maybe some short live play videos. Maybe not so much recently, but when I first started out twoplustwo was a big help to me, so if anyone has any kind of questions about playing poker professionally I'd also be happy to answer them.

GL all.

Cool idea.

Always fun to hear about peoples motivations to move in and out of the game so if you don't mind elaborating on this, please do.

Great Idea!

Just wondering, how come this is going to be the last month you put in any kind of real volume?

Cheers guys, I'm still doing research here, want to make sure I maximise my $$'s effectiveness but want to do something for underprivileged kids I think, and I really like the Against Malaria Foundation too.

Perfect! Unfortunately expecting my stars volume to be limited this month.

I have no problem elaborating. Basically I am 24 with a good Economics degree, and I got offered a really good job starting in March this year. I'd always been of the mind that poker was a shorter term thing, and I travelled the world last year to try and enjoy the benefits that poker gave me, but also knowing it was kind of a grand final act for me within the game. Degree's definitely have an expiry date and I was kind of approaching mine, so needed to make a decision. I'd also fallen out of love with the game a bit, was kind of struggling to motivate myself to put volume in and had zero motivation to try and move up the stakes. Financially, obviously my salary after tax is going to take a hit, and the hourly difference can be kind of sickening, but hopefully can be worth it in the long run in a field without too much of a ceiling. More than anything else I am just looking forward to a new challenge. Obviously I've been lucky to save much more capital than most people of my age, so always have options in the worst case scenario anyway.

Finally, I've really enjoyed working and coaching people with PIO and other solvers these last two years, possibly even more than playing myself. But the fact is that the complete solution, or at the very least an extremely strong approximation to 100bb 6max poker is out there already. Don't get me wrong, there are still extremely large edges to be found even at 500z, and with fish the games will always be good, but the bot side of thing definitely does scare me in the mid term (3-4 years.)

TLDR; I sacrificed short term earnings from poker for a hopefully more +EV long term route which had an expiring entry date.

        Haha seems to be a few guys interested in giving to the cause.

        Had a swingy day yesterday;

        Basically lost a ton on stars, made it back on other sites. Was recording a video for d7s army at 200z in midday UK games, and was just struck by how unbelievably horrendous they are. I wouldn't be surprised to find out I was losing after rake in those kind of games, and tons of regs who I feel are quite a long way behind me were also 4 tabling. I definitely think game selection is important at zoom even, and can be the difference between being a breakeven reg and a loser.

        A couple of hands;

        h1- absolute blow up from this reg, at least it goes to a good cause.

              Cheers mate, always really cool to hear stuff like this, put a decent amount of time into them and whilst I've never really made the push above SSNL, feel like those kind of strategies have given me a big edge in any game I've sat in.

              ----

              So with that said, the last couple of days didn't go too well. Just standard variance but kind of frustrating when I was hoping to run hot for #charity. Got what I deserve for results orientated goals I guess.
