Given Up Everything For The Grind: 25NL->500NL And Beyond
Just a bit of advice, in a couple of the hands above (yawn, yawn 2.0), you are bluffing into someone with 60bb. General indication they are a recreational and generally unlikely to fold as much vs triples, especially on the AxxA board
Started the session 3 tabling and played pretty meh, spewing off a bit. Was going fine, ran into a few cooler spots where I lost some big pots, AK<AA pre, 3rd nut flush vs nut flush OTF, ect. Couple of big bluffs not going through/running into top end. Mental game was nothing special but maintained enough composure to continue. Was actually thinking of putting in another 1k hands but decided I'm going to do some studying tonight.
Short list of areas I need to improve that I am going to focus on to reap max +EV:
- 30min warmup before all future sessions
- Learning how to analyse my own play/exploits in PT4 and plug leaks (I have no clue how to use PT4 to study, send advice pls xoxo)
- Start bodyweight exercising
Damn what a sick hero call by me I'm impressed

It's getting a bit depressing uploading a negative graph almost every session. It's not killing motivation in any way, in fact my motivation for playing is at an all time high, motivation alone doesn't make you win though.

Short session and moved down from 4 tables to 2, as boring as it gets I really think I just need to focus on improving my basic strategy. Less time will be put into poker until after new year.
It's been 2 months but I am finally back. Took a small break from poker for christmas holidays then decided to stop playing online altogether for a bit, continuing to play live. Up a 2-3 bags or so live in the last 2 months but virtually no online volume up until a few days ago. So after yet another grim session (won't post the graph, nothing crazy, down another 3BI or so over 1k hands as per usual) I had an epiphany which made me realise where I'm really going wrong.
Three main areas that contribute to long term progress in poker:
- Volume
- Off table studying
- Mental game work
What I realised was that I'm not putting in enough volume, my studying volume/routine was virtually non existent and I wasn't putting any effort into improving my mental game so it was pretty obvious why I wasn't progressing and even had to move down a stake.
I'm not going to work on increasing my volume, but instead put all of my energy into developing a strong work ethic which will help me to increase the amount/efficiency of off table studying I do.
Even though I'm only up a small amount in todays session, it really was the first session in so long that I felt like I actually played good poker. the redline crush towards the end was where I could actually feel my confidence coming back. Who knows, maybe this is the start of the October redline crushing again.
Jfc lol
Think I should have x/c turn tbh
Slightly happier with my river shove, think I get paid off so much more frequently if I bet pot though, players super nitty when to comes to getting stacks in at these stakes

I think I've figured this **** out.
Didn't play for a few days as I was in Newcastle for some student poker event. £600 for the trip. 61/153 in the £40 ME and 5/41 in the £100 HR for £300. Busted TT<JT with 10BB, w/e.
Funny hand in the HR, blinds 1k/2k I open MP w/ 44 to 4.5k, HJ calls.
Flop As4s4c, x/x.
Turn Kc, I check, villain bets 5k, I raise to 12k, he tank shoves for ~55k and I snap him off. He shows 5c6c and is like "Welp I'm drawing dead". gg.
Lost a £1.5k pot vs my friend AQ<KK on AAK.
My first time in the north, what tf is up with those people? People on the street were ****ing wild, never seen anything like it.
Session from the 7th, queue me going into hibernation after this session looking for any sort of solution as to why I can't even ****ing beat 10NL.
Found Nick Howards channel on Youtube, binged about 6hrs of his content (absolute goldmine btw, 100% would recommend checking it out) and realised that so much of the money lost was from unnecessary aggression in spots where villain is either:
This is definitely the single biggest leak I have and is the reason for my dreadful blueline.
Literally just fixing that today has turned my game 180 the results were unreal.
MENTAL GAME WORK IS ****ING UNDERRATED

****ing hilarious hand which single handedly crashed my EV line (would not be laughing so much if I didn't suck out massively). How tf do they have BOTH of those hands!?
Will be away for a few days, might be able to put some live hours in (definitely need to). Also thinking about moving to London, because being walking distance away from the vic sounds good.

- Not thinking enough to make laydowns in certain spots (least likely)
- Forcing unnecessary bluffs, even when villain has strong, uncapped range.
- Trying to push villain off of hands that are just too strong to realistically be folding.
This is definitely the single biggest leak I have and is the reason for my dreadful blueline.

Came back from Brighton, played about 3 hours of 1/2. There was one interesting hand vs a reg and an old, fun player.
4 handed with straddle. oldman limps BTN, I call SB w/ 22, BB calls, reg makes it 30, oldman calls, I call, BB folds.
Flop is Q62ddx. I check, reg bets 45, oldman calls, I call.
Turn 3o, I check, reg bets 120, oldman snap calls, I go all in for ~400, reg snaps folds and oldman takes like 30 secs to call like 40 more lol. Oldman shows A6dd and we hold.
Was considering x/shoving flop and seriously regret not doing that, I played it so bad. Reg says "It's so sick how you have 22 and oldman has the nut flush draw" before we turn over our cards. Definitely get a call by him if we x/shove flop though as we never have bluffs with our current line :^(
+380 for the session
Online was a mad session today, unfortunately lost a 500BB pot after I had clicked sit out at next BB which was super tilting, but apart from that a very comfortable session with a huge improvement in mental game.
What a sick river, guy goes into the tank for about 2 minutes
Lmao how tf do we even get action here
Risque bluff of the day, he had to fold, no one bluff raises river at these stakes
Easily one of the most tilting poker hands I've ever played, how the **** does he have that!?
Will continue 10NL for the next few days, probably heading up to London for some live poker/other stuff and will consider jumping back up to 25NL after

Hit up the Vic on the weekend. Down £800 first day and up £300 the second. Lost a pretty brutal hand in 1/3. UTG limps, UTG+1 calls, I make it 17w/ KK, UTG calls and everyone else folds.
Flop is Jc8c4x, villain checks, I bet 25, villain x/r to 75. Eff stacks are 600. I make it 225 and call villains shove who shows J8s and we brick out.
Come back from London pretty deflated and incredibly tired and still decided to play a bit more. Reg'd an $11 HU zoom tourney on Stars aaaaaand...
BINK
Graph from yesterdays quick session that I forgot to post:
Hilarious spot multiway. Got it in vs the best hands tbh. Would be devastating to get it in vs nut FD and bottom set.
Almost didn't want to post this one because I played it terribly OTR. I think I like a x/c more. This is definitely one to study.
Paaaaaaainful fold

am i missing something?
wtf?
why did you fold?
It's a huge overbet raise, we need to win like 43% of the time and I believe he shows up with JT a disproportionate amount of the time
you both check turn (ok), he supposedly turns the nuts and simply halfpots, then he checks to you on the river? is this really a line that the absolute nuts would take?
besides, you -only- lose to JT here. literally one hand. i overfold like crazy but this is just absurd tbh. he can be doing this with a variety of hands. literal air because he just wants to win the pot (this happens), random 2pair (he is in the bb, isn't he?), etc.
if you wanna put him on JT, why can't you put him on 22 too? that's way too narrow considering his line, anyway. ignore the raise on the river and think about what hands he could have at that point. it's a ****ton. he's just spewing.
Subbed
i dunno, maybe i'm wrong but do you really feel like JT would play that way?

Your points are valid though. I am usually the last person to make these kinds of folds.
Thanks!
BACK2BACK SEND THE $$$
Didn't post the last few sessions. It crazy how I'm confident in my technical abilities at these stakes, but just the difference in mental state going into my sessions basically determines whether I will be profitable or not.
Up to -$150 was my first 2 sessions. Mental state was 4/10 which deteriorated to 1-2/10. Not ashamed to admit I played ****.
from the 2k hand mark was today's session. Mental state 8/10.
Need to put in way more volume.

Will post a longer update very soon with a rundown of everything that's happened pokerwise between April and now but the tl;dr is basically:
Mental state hit rock bottom hit rock bottom in May. I spent some time away from poker, studied a lot and changed my entire approach to the game mentally and technically. Now my mental game is 10x stronger than before, technical game is at its peak and I have moved back up to 25NL with a very promising winrate and a confidence I have not seen in a LONG time and am prepared to move up to 50NL soon.
Also I binked another $11 HU tourney some time around late April.
Redline crushing again
Sick river
He ****ing snapcalled as well, might be the biggest donation I've seen yet
Was kicking myself for not overbetting river even before he called

July Results at 25NL:
Results for August so far:
July had a very disappointing end but kicked off the beginning of August with style. I was complaining in my head about how bad I've been running the last few days, 2nd nuts vs nuts sorta thing, and the all in EV runbad I've experienced for a while now. Turns out I've actually been redline killing it and up quite a bit from my "runbad" sessions.

Months almost coming to a close. Cashed ~$900 in the $11 HU tourneys this month and ~5BB/100 in 25NL.
Been 3 tabling 25NLz for over a month now, just reached the point where I'm now comfortable 4 tabling; here's today's results of my first 4 table session:
Deserved bigtime suckout, dickhead didn't even snap
Think this might be the biggest pot I've lost online so far

God tier run today, almost breaking 20BI for the month.
Set over set vs fish, middle set as well >:^(
So badly wanted to hero this on the river ugh
Considering moving up to 50NL at the end of the month, not sure how much tougher the games are but I doubt it's significant.

Considering moving up to 50NL at the end of the month, not sure how much tougher the games are but I doubt it's significant.
August Results:
Still might continue with 25NL for September actually because WCOOP is almost upon us and I don't think juggling that with shot taking would be that smart.
Really happy with how my game is coming along, still punting every so often but I have a great winrate now at least. Only worry that I have is that there are a lot of spots where I'm aware I'm overbluffing in 25NL but I have the confidence that the population is weak enough that I can just blast through with overbets in these spots and that when I move up to 50NL there will be spots where I attack capped ranges and either my line doesn't make sense and I get hero called everywhere or people just start properly defending their capped range, but I think I shouldn't overestimate their ability to adjust until I have strong evidence.

Yo.
You most likely see little to no resistance up to 200NLz (maybe 100 , you see some) but that's because:
1- Pool is huge and almost no one is gonna get enough sample on you to detect your aggro tendencies.
2- Even if they do , they don't know how to adjust (mostly they just tighten up and let you take a lot of small pots)
BUT
think about your thought process , If you say "You know" You are over bluffing this spot and you shouldn't do it , and pick the spot , OK I can understand that.. (Nothing wrong with deviating based on info/well thought out plans)
But be extra careful about the mindset your setting for yourself.
I started out as a Massive LAG and it took me like 200~300K hands to realize "Blind aggression is out-dated nowadays"
I worry that:
1- you are going through a line of blind aggression
2- you put way too much weight towards way too little sample! 20K-40K-50K hands means nothing. literally nothing!
If you're goal is 25NL , well done my man. you are a winner in this stake , no doubt! But if you wanna progress higher, be extra careful of how you build your fundamentals.
Cheers <3

Came 55/9297 in the $11 turbo WCOOP. Played super solid and ran great. Really disappointed that I came so close to my first WCOOP FT and busted just before the payjumps started to get big but oh well.
Another super deep run in WCOOP, busted again just before the big money jumps as well...
