BACKGROUND
Hello everyone
Little about myself, I am a recent college graduate and have been playing poker semi seriously on and off for about 6 years now, with a healthy mix of live and online. Throughout the last couple years Ive been playing 1/2 and 1/3 NLHE at local casinos with a bit of 2/2 PLO mixed in here and there. With the sporadic nature of my playing I also studied here and there in spurts with varying degrees of intensity and dedication. So far I have had a bit of success at 1/2 and 1/3 live, I would hesitate to say I'm a definite winning player there due to sample size but I think I am?
With online poker Ive followed a trend of doing well over 10k hands or so at lower stakes, like 10nl and 25nl, then getting restless and would play much much higher than my bankroll would allow and eventually lose it till I would be regulated back to the micros.
THE MOTIVATION
Long story short, I want to take poker more seriously. I want to stop dicking about and settle in to a grind and really try to get better for an extended amount of time. I am the type of person that really clicks with concrete goals, instead of just playing here and there and jumping around stakes as I wanted without regard for bankroll.
I'm a full time software engineer making decent money as well, so I have the flexibility to focus on this in my free time and try to establish what role poker will fill in my life moving forward. If after 100k hands, that's back to the micros/drawing board then so be it, if that's moving up to 100nl or deciding to rep another 100k hands, then so be it. I'm prepared to accept whatever these 100k hands tell me, and am committed to studying, working on my game, and taking these as seriously as I can.
I currently have the income, that as long as I dont completely forget how to play, I am prepared to reload from my income as needed in order to complete this challenge.
THE CHALLENGE
-100k Hands of 50nl on Bovada.
- At least weekly updates with graphs to this this thread to update and keep myself accountable
- Posting interesting hands with my updates.
PROP BET(S)
I have made a prop bet with a skeptic friend as well: my 500 to his 1500 on whether I am positive at the end of the challenge. With a 750 penalty for not finishing the challenge for any reason. Expecting a few more bets with two more buddies as well so I will update when those get locked in.
