So it's official: 0 winning sessions during this year's WCOOP/Powerfest. Prob gonna take a break from MTTs, not a long one but some real tilting ****'s happening, can't even deposit on stars anymore cuz I reached monthly limits.

I still want to make it as a MTT pro but right now I'm thinking about learning to play cash so I can mix these games in, reasons: 1/ to learn deepstack postflop strategies 2/ lower variance during hard times 3/ additional $/h when low MTT table count 4/ more flexibility (planning to move to Vietnam for the winter)

Any recommendations for a site with a decent cash games (NL50-200) offer? I don't think it would be the best $EV option to play on stars, pokermaster doesn't look enjoyable to play too.

Still losing so took a look at some hm2 reports and there are some very clear areas of my game that need improvements:

The thing is, I have zero idea how to boost these winrates. Low 3b, especially from the button is one of the leaks so I'll pay attention to it in future but I think the biggest issue is my winrate from the blinds below 60bb deep... but as I said I have no idea what to do with them. I think my defending ranges are fine, I might be making some mistakes in 3b pots but people prob overfold vs 3bets and vs cbets in 3b pots anyway.
For example between 10 and 35bb deep my overall evbb/100 is 0.67, -17 from SB and -40.5 from BB. I don't think it's possible to have a decent overall winrate with these.
Pretty confused cuz I really don't know how to fix it, I feel pretty confident about playing postflop as BB OOP, might have some fundamental leaks in BvB game tho.

Judging by those very nitty preflop stats I'm gonna guess you don't defend your BB & SB enough and you play too weak postflop.

Hey, tbh I think I defend them reasonably wide, x/jam flop from bb wide enough too but there must be some fundamental leaks.

Notice that my stats are similar at all stack depths between 15-infinity. The main difference is that below let's say 60bb my BB/SB winrates drop significantly causing the overall winrate to collapse.

Now, what do I do differently from the blinds being short and deep stack?

I think I defend BB less when deep (at least I feel this way but stats are very very similar so idk), also steal way more from SB (basically no limping deep tho, while below 40-50bb I start limping).

Also, it looks like I need to make some adaptations from earlier positions (EP/MP/CO) cuz my stats there are pretty similar but winrates are way worse when shallow.

Positional stats:
20-60bb:

3bets are low, wwsf from BB is low, xr is low, fold to cbet is too high.

Basically what I suspected. Be more aggressive and fold less.

But all these stats you mentioned are pretty much the same at every stack depth yet, winrates vary drastically

So in October I've won two $530 tickets to Millions Online sats.
Last Friday I fired the first bullet, was the chip leader for the most part of the tournament, then went from 2/17 to out at 17th (10 paid) fairly quickly. Prob lost 2-4 bbs too much postflop, then AK<J7o, managed to get some back, then lost some again and finally made probably a little too wide rejam with ATo vs rec's 2.5x (HJ?) open which even in real time I perceived as probably strong and got called with AJo for my last 20bbs.

It was really destroying, obv this was only one tourney but yeah most people who play mtts want to get their opportunity at a big shot once in a while and mine so far look like 17th/10 packages to WSOPE ME a year ago, 12/8 to Barca this year and now again 17/10 to Millions. Pretty disappointing course of events for someone whose life attitude has always been like "all or nothing".

Busted the second ticket tonight as well.

Really tired of MTTs, it's been already over a 6 month losing streak (half bankroll net loss), after great results in first 4 months of the year everything collapsed and things got really bad. As I mentioned my mindset is pretty strong but this whole thing reached a point where it's too annoying. Gonna try Asian apps instead, see if it's really possible to print money there and hopefully return to MTTs part/full time in few months. Pretty worried tho that my MTT skills will deteriorate if I just play them every now and then.

This ****ing stars graph looks like I gave my account away to some 5 year olds lol

Changed my mind about Asian apps for now, I want to stick to MTTs because it's my favourite game. Still haven't quite figured out wtf is wrong with my mid/shortstack game, improving it will be my main focus in the beginning of 2019.

2018 recap:

A year ago I stated that "No goals for 2018, nothing changes but a digit" and it's pretty much still my attitude, but I've drawn a few conclusions from how this year went that I want to write down to remember them better.

-I won almost 2x more money in the first 4 months of 2018 than in my entire poker journey before, thought everything is in the right path to success, then had a bad SCOOP, pretty much ignored it because variance;

-after SCOOP I switched to a super duper lazy mode for a pretty long time which shouldn't have happened (anyway I confirmed myself in conviction that I don't see much joy in the "world outside 4 walls" until I'm not rich so this year I should have no problem working harder through sunny days)

-I think it was ****ING AUTUMN(!!!!) when I came to the conclusion that poor short/midstack game is probably the thing that is nowhere near good condition and costs me ****ing thousands of dollars. I should've noticed that earlier. The important conclusion is that the DB should be scanned monthly or at least quarterly for leaks, especially during downswings

-0 winnings days during WCOOP, wasn't fun

-last 2-3 months were super lazy, no motivation, no volume, no results, in December I started to grind a little bit more again but haven't really improved my short/midstack game, seems like nobody knows what's wrong and that's very ****ing annoying.

-unless I bink big tonight, I made less money in 2018 than in 2017, I hope that the conclusions I drew are important & will remember them through 2019 and beyond.

-on the positive side, I binked my biggest win this year ($18k in March), hoping to beat it in 2019 as I think I've been beating my biggest score year-by-year since 2015 or so.

Spoiler:

Nonetheless, Happy New Year!
