What's up 2+2,

I had a string of short-lived PG&C threads earlier this year, none of which survived beyond a handful of updates. Blogging here for accountability and bc it seems fun (more on this later), so we go again!

I'm a 22 y/o Brit, currently entering my final year at uni. I've played online poker on the side for 3-4 years, mostly at micro/SSNL cash for the last 2-3 years where I'm a small winner lifetime.

I graduate in approx 9 months, at which point I want to be in a position where I can pursue poker professionally. I'm currently trying to establish myself at 50nl(z), and playing with a $1k bankroll. I'll try to update this blog along the way as often and transparently as possible.

Also, I plan to sometimes stream at https://www.twitch.tv/wagopoker.

Think that's all for now, let's goo! <3

Don't have any particularly relevant graphs to hand unfortunately, so in order to satisfy the 2+2 graph junkies, here's a random insignificant sample of me playing the 10/25nlff games on partypoker early last month:

The partypoker leaderboards tend to reward volume at SS generously, but placing highly can also be p soul crushing. This was over a short period (a week or so) where I was trying out their games/leaderboards. Rewards doubled my winrate during this sample which is a big shift from the 1% I probably receive from stars lol. That said, playing high volume for rewards wasn't something that I found particularly enjoyable (or sustainable), so back to stars I went!

Disclaimer: typically I'm not AT ALL a big volume grinder!

I will set some poker/lifestyle goals for the coming week below.

GL, you are at my level, though I have a bit more than $1k on hand.

Thanks mayne, yeah I imagine $1k is p much the least you'd need for 50. Fingers crossed it sticks.

12/10/20-18/10/20 Goals:
[] 12 hours play minimum. Super modest obviously, this being bc I want to focus on quality>quantity (minimize variance wherever possible) and study>play for the time being.
[] Study daily. Not exactly sure how to quantify this one, but I want to be putting in some form of meaningful study daily.
[] Meditate daily.
[] Exercise daily.
[] Alcohol/substance free Shouldn't be too hard given the current circumstances, but this should have a positive impact on my productivity/performance.

12/10/20-18/10/20 Summary:

[] 12 hours play minimum. I played 11 hours of poker this week so not quite the 12 I was looking for, although I made up for it by playing more hands/hr than I anticipated.
[] Study daily. I got in some sort of casual study most days (HHs if nothing more), although def slacked on conducting meaningful study everyday.
[x] Meditate daily. 5 mins daily.
[x] Exercise daily. Either running, weightlifting or some sort of yoga/pilates.
[] Alcohol/substance free. RIP, had a few beers on Friday night hanging w friends, nothing crazy. This wasn't a particularly serious goal, just thought I'd give it a try since I typically lose at least one day per week to being hungover lol.

Reflecting on the week, I think that my performance was somewhat mediocre; volume and lifestyle stuff was reasonable, although study wasn't where it needs to be. That said, I did put in some sort of work everyday which I'm happy with, consistency being key and all.

Cheeky 25bb/100 run this week, putting the bankroll just below $1500

19/10/20-25/10/20 Goals:
Not going to set any formal goals for the coming week as I'm back at uni and have a bunch of stuff to work through/organize there. Once I'm settled and accustomed to the whole online learning thing I'll start back up w proper goal setting. That said, I want to focus on quality play and study this week, so if I can put in some hands whilst getting some meaningful learning in, that'd be cool.
