Amateur part time player with full time job (Accountant).

Playing mainly zoom on Stars, 888 & Party Poker with maybe a sprinkling of MTTs.

A goal to get better and record my current journey.

Stakes will currently be 10NL - 25NL depending on mood, time of day/week and site.

I won't set any volume targets or anything like that, but I will set a periodic technical challenge where I spend my study time looking at a specific technical aspect of the game applicable to my stakes and look at ways to improve on it.

Technical Challenge 1

Increase my check raising from the BB

Population Leak: Cbetting too wide in position
Exploit plan: To check raise more for thin value and as a bluff.

Notes: Look at increasing my bluff check raising range in particular by choosing three key elements related to my hand - back door straight draw, back door flush draw & blockers. If all three conditions are met and the player has a regular WTSD % then I will look at check raising as a bluff.

Software: Use HM Manager to look at spots where I do check raise and in conjunction with PIO, look at constructing turn continuing ranges.

Forget the check raising, just flop quads and let the rec do the work.

    Quick update.

Going really well last couple of weeks. Shot taking 50nl on one of the soft Euro networks over the weekend and it went really well.

Been practicing a lot at lower limits on stars with hole cards switched off to keep drilling into me the importance of board texture + my opponents actions and its helped hugely.

Few hands from over the weekend:

Versus established bad reg who mixes it up pre with limping, raising and limp - reraising. I think pre is a mistake given the size of his reraise.
