Well let's see.... I'm here, but not quite sure what I'm doing here.
I mean I don't feel drunk.

I thought 7/9 would be a fitting date to mark the start point of whatever this will be. 79 being my favorite hand and all. Yes one thing you should know about fun players is that we all have our favorite hand. Usually it ties back to some big pot you won from playing badly and running godly. For me that hand is 79

I guess the purpose of this thread is to provide me an outlet to post random updates related to poker.

I haven't played a whole lot in recent years due to time constraints. Live poker is just so time consuming. But I have managed to fit in 1 or 2 tourneys a year and the occassional cash session once a month or so. Not much to write home about. I min cashed some $1100 event last summer and am up a fair amount in the limited cash I've played.

I also play some online, but options for Americans are pretty crappy. I mostly play 100NL 6 max on ignition and some of their tourneys once in awhile. I recently checked out Bet Online and have dabbled in 50NL 6max. The player pool is super small. There seems to be like maybe 10 regs and a handful of random weaker players. At peak hrs there are maybe 4 tables going. I play without a HUD so I'm only 1 or 2 tabling anyways.

I plan on playing the Monster Stack again next year, but will also schedule time so I can play the ME as well. It would be nice to subsidize that with my cash play. So I guess the main goal/challenge is to make $11,500 within about 150hrs of play.
And the side quest will be to make a good showing in the tourneys.

As for where my game is at: Though I've played relatively little, I've actually studied quite a bit. My thoughts on the game in both cash and tournaments has changed quite dramatically over the last few years. I feel my tournament fundamentals have become more solid, but I still find myself Selbsting off my stack near every money bubble. This is one thing I've never bothered to fix. I think it's time now to stop that and see what it does for my results.

For this month I can probably fit in one cash session and I will also be playing a $1650 at the end of the month.

For cash I typically play 2/5 and 5/10.

I guess I can close out with a HH.
One hand I played on my recent Vegas trip.
5/10 NL
Villain is MAWG with about 2200, hero covers.

PF: Villain opens UTG to 30, hero UTG+1 3bets to 110 with AQo, HJ cold calls, folds back to Villain who calls.

Flop(345): J 8 7r
Villain leads 200, hero makes it 600, fold, villain calls.

Turn(1545): Q
Villain checks, hero checks

River(1545): 7
Villain bets 500, hero raises to 1k, villain makes crying call and mucks.

A funny hand.

$5 bb NL

Villain is an Indian gentleman around late 50s early 60s.
He has very rudimentary grasp of poker and the rules. Only calls(very wide) to the point I questioned whether he knew the hand rankings.
He would never raise either, regardless of his hand strength. It wasn't that he was scared, I think he just didn't realize it was an option.

Effective stacks are about $810

PF: Lag opens utg to 15, call, hero makes it 85 with TT, villain nta calls, lag calls, fold. 3 to the flop.

Flop(280): 8c 6d 4d
Lag leads 20, hero makes it 125, villain calls, lag folds.

Turn(550): Jh
Hero bets 250, villain calls. (this is a clear value bet here)

River(1050): 6s
Hero shoves for last 350, villain calls.

Hero tables hand and villain shows Qc6c. Then promptly racks up his chips and leaves. A little disappointing he didn't stick around, but thems the breaks.

I ended up making it all back and some anyways in the following few hrs so no biggie.

Got a royal flush a couple weeks ago so that was kind of cool.

Planning to play a short live session tonight.

Been studying a lot, mostly tourney stuff. Playing a $1650 event next weekend. Hopefully all my study can start to manifest itself in some results.

Last night's session was ok. Started off the night with a cooler, but still won a small amount around $400.

Cooler. $5 bb. Stacks are 700. Hero in sb w/ black KK.

Folds around to button who asks if we chop. I say sure whatever, but bb says he doesn't and I say I'm fine with that too.

Villain on button makes it 20, I make it 110, bb folds, now this is where I should have picked up on the tell. Villain says, "ok let's gamble I'm all in." If I didn't have KK and we were a little deeper I might have paid closer attention. Anyways I call and he has AA.

The hand itself is whatever, the tilting thing is the stupid **** live players say after they win hands like this.
Among the list:
"What did you have?"
"Did you have a good hand?"
And then their genius attempt to guess your hand. Wow you are a great hand reader.

Only other hand of interest was this one. Hero has about 1400, villain's in the blinds hae around 1k.

Hero opens from UTG with 87 for 25, UTG+2, MP, button and villains in blinds call.

Flop(150): K 8 4
Checked around

Turn(150): 5 SB leads 60, bb calls, Hero calls rest fold.

River(330): A
Checks to hero who bets 215, both fold.

Alright no poker til the tourney next Saturday.

Man treaded water like last 5 lvls at 12bb.

Such a ******ed outcome last hand of the night. lvl 16
2.5k/5k 500

UTG+1 open shoves 42k, folds to LJ who shoves like 80k, folds to me in CO with about 51.5k I shove AJ

UTG+1 has A7o, LJ has QQ.

Flop: AT2
Turn: 3
River: 7

Such a sick swing. I win that hand, and I have like 25bb coming into tomorrow. Instead I'm coming back with 3bb lol. Almost don't even want to bother.
We're still about 22 players or so away from the money so it'll take a miracle for me to cash. Oh well. Next time.

Tough spot from yesterday. Being completely results oriented, I kind of wish I just went with it.

1k/2k blinds I have about 110k villain has around the same.

Folds to villain in HJ who opens to 4500, Hero flats TT on button

Flop: 684
Villain bets 6k, hero flats

Turn: 9
Villain checks, hero bets 15k, villain thinks for a bit and makes it 60k. I tank for awhile and fold. I felt like it was AA with maybe Ad. I wasn't sure what card was good for me on the river so I folded. Later towards end of the day he told me he had black AA. At the time I bet I thought he had maybe AK/AQ and I bet for protection.

Thanks Garick I'll need it as the first hand I'm dealt I will be all in. Kind of sucks knowing I'll be forced to be in with whatever first 2 cards are dealt to me as the ante is like 5% of my stack lol.

Walked into day 2 86th out of 86.

I drew the sb. First hand I look down at Q7o. Only 6 players are seated so it bettered my chances. UTG shoves only i call and he has TT alright not bad.

Door card Q. Could this be my chance? Next two cards roll off a J and a T. Turn is a J. 2 outs woohoo. River a 6. gg.

Well I'm happy with how I played. Definitely didn't run that great. I lost AA vs K9, KK vs A6. TT 5 times with no set and 3 of those times ran into AA. And yeah losing to A7 at the end there to boot. But I kept true to my goal and didn't do any spewy punts so that was good. I also got some good practice with my short stack game as I treaded the last 5 lvls between 10-15bb.

Going to Taiwan/Japan for a few weeks from this week. Man it's going to be hot.

Pokerwise probably won't be a whole lot going on. I'm planning to play a 5/5/10/20 game that does a live stream at the end of August. That should be pretty fun. From what I've seen it's a pretty action heavy game so some good opportunities to run it up hopefully.

After that maybe scout out the next 1k-1.7k tourney that's around maybe i Sept or Oct timeframe. Until next time!

So I played this little $11 tourney and got royally screwed down the stretch. Next hand I lose a flip b vs b AJ vs 55 and I'm out. Annoying when you lose the ones you should win. Ah well.

Got back from my Taiwan/Japan trip. Man it was so hot and sticky. Had lots of fun though. Great food as expected.

Some the food prices were crazy. $20 for a bunch of grapes and $5 for a peach.

Planning to play a live stream game this Friday.
Making the drive up to Sacramento.

They stream on Youtube and Twitch called Stones Live Poker. It's a small local cardroom that streams various games pretty often.

This game will be 5/5/10 and I believe there's 20 straddle basically every hand so it's really 5/5/10/20. The action is pretty good as 3 bet pots will routinely go 3 to 4 ways. Some big donators in the game, hope to run good.

Should be fun.

After that will probably fire a WSOPc 1700 next month.

Played a couple small tourneys for practice. Ended up 2nd in both(the first one was like a nano tourney lol)

The bigger one I ran pretty bad HU. Got 82o for about a third of my hands and my last hand got it in with AK vs 66. Flop A river 6.

Better result than yesterday at least in which I min cashed 2 and bubbled one.

Finally got a 1st today. Felt good as I started HU down almost 2 to 1, but the person I was playing was pretty bad so it didn't take long to flip it.

Last hand pretty std. They raised button and I jammed 44 and they call with A4s.

So last 2 nights I played 10 tourneys, 4 min cash, two 2nds, and a first. I'll take it.

Hope tomorrow's cash game goes just as well.
