Hello!

I'm Jasper, a 26 year old recreational player from The Netherlands! I'v been playing poker since i'm 18. I have been reading the 2+2 forums for years now but never registerd or posted myself. Mainly because i wasn't playing large volumes and never had mentionable results.

Since a year i also play small live tournaments in the local bars in my city (Groningen). My winrate on live games is a lot higher and i feel more and more comfortable playing them.

Just like most recs i always had the dream to participate in a big live tournament. I played a lot of qualifyers on pokerstars but never won. A few months ago i switched back to Partypoker, the site where i once started. I like it because you recieve a lot of tickets for freerolls and sattelites.

The past few months i felt down, had no money to play poker since i am still a student. The last time i went on vacation is like 6 years ago. The only games i could play on partypoker were the freerolls. Sunday i woke up got a $1 ticket for the Caribbean Poker Party. I joined the game and qualified for the $5,50 next step. I don't want to make this topic too long but i ended up winning the 5,50, 27,50, 109 and eventually after a sick bubble the 1050. After 13 hours and 5 sattelites i won the $10,000 package to the Dominican Republic!

In this topic i hope to recieve some tips , discuss some live hands (i'm planning to play a few small local tournaments for practice) and maybe meet some people who are also attending to go to the Caribbean.

A few questions:

- The hotel is all inclusive. Are there any costs i have to calculate in before i go? Anyone has experience with the CPP?
- Does anyone recommend articles/videos/lessons for this situation? As in going to a tournament like this as a recreational player.

Goals:
- Prepare as good as possible and manage my expectations
- Enjoy the vacation and experience
- Get past the bubble, since 10k is alot of money for me.

Sorry for my bad grammer. I hope some of you guys can enlight me a little.

Always cool to see stories like this! I'm not sure when the CPP is but if you can I'd suggest saving up some money before you go to play a few small side events or whatever you can afford, just so its not an 'all or nothing' mentality in the main event. Obviously cashing in that would be amazing for you but you don't want it to completely dominate your mindset and affect your play too much.
