haha failing so hard at any goal I ever set. I just find it extremely difficult to find time to play poker, let alone learn more. Hell, I'm even failing it up on my H&F log which I've kept going for 6 months.

Basically, I'm slipping slowly back into depression and I have to actively fight every day to stop "Councelling it up".

I also just cashed out most of roll and only have $250. I guess I'm going to play 10NL with shots at juicy 25NL tables... ya know, if I actually decide to play.

I'm a very cynical realist and my own harshest critic. I usually tend to not be so down, but it happens from time-to-time. It is a struggle and I try to keep my head up. That was just earlier this week and I wasn't in a good mood due to a variety of stressors. Now I'm in a great mood and I'm in a much better state of mind. Things in life eventually work themselves out.

A new start in 2012? Ya might as well.

I recently started to play some poker again about a 1/3rd of the way through January and here are my results:

This is the first month I've played more than 4 hours since July 2011, so I'm content with my results. I started out playing pretty bad and losing at showdown at a terrible rate. I started watching some old deucescracked videos at around the 4k hands mark and I started to play well and run good too obv.

I am setting a long-term goal to reach 1 mirrion hands lifetime (currently at 638k) by the end of 2012. This wouldn't be a huge goal for most people, but I work a full-time job. Poker is only a part-time job for me and I work about 20-25 hours a week playing 4 tables typically. I'm also taking some online classes and trying to get everything in order to start working on my Masters degree, so I'm going to be extremely busy.

Took a shot in a good game at 100NL, which lead to some tilting of money at 50NL during that session.

42 hours and 11k hands, so I'm certainly very short on my goal. I've had issues finding time to play tiltless lately which has killed hours put in and my hands per hour are low due to sometimes only having 1, 2, or 3 tables open and running. I feel like when I do play, I'm playing well and that's really more important than any hour or hands played goal.

These are more realistic goals for me currently. I'm still easing my way back into 6max poker and I plan to move to live poker given the uncertainty of the online market. With that said, the goal of finally reaching a million online hands seems a little unrealistic since that is a year long goal and I can't achieve that type of volume in the short-term due to only being able to play 6 tables max before my game starts to deteriorate.

So, my new goal is to build a live roll. I have a full-time job and can replenish the br somewhat, so I don't need a ton of buy-ins. I'll be comfortable with a $2k br to play live 1/2 NL (60 min, 200 max) as a part-time job. I can cover my living expenses with my job and once I start to grind live, the roll should grow pretty quickly because I don't anticipate needing to withdraw from it.

River is weird as ****... I probably have a bad bet size and I've underrepped my hand considerably. The shove typically means OMG THE NUTS, so I fold expecting to see 7T, 67, TT, and 66 most of the time.

Had a couple coolers and ran bad in a couple places. I also had some spots that I def felt I misplayed or didn't know how to properly play it at all.


Villain: very limited sample, 24/18 11%3b, 40% fold to cbet over 5 samples

When he raises my turn bet I just think I'm way behind his range and sticking it in is almost always a bad play. In review, I could see some merit for a check/call here, I just felt the Q was a decent card to barrel.

I can't find a good reason to iso raise 89o vs 2 loose-passive fish that have position on me. I guess in review, this one seems OK since I pick up equity on the turn.



This is against a fish that sucked out on my earlier in the session and most of the time when he had a hand with decent strength he was clicking the pot button (i.e. turned 2pair-> psb, river full house -> psb). This time I went with my read and felt he was weak so I called him down.

I felt pretty good about this session despite not winning. Most of the decisions I made I think were correct (or at least had logical reasoning to back them up). I also only played 2 pots that were >50bbs at the end, so I didn't run my good hands into other good hands. Oh well, time to prepare for another day of work and then come home and grind again.

Just a shameful bump since I didn't play poker yesterday and maybe to get some comments on the posted hands.

At least instead of poker I got to watch the Cardinals win opening day and start off 2012 right. 12 in '12, let's do it!

Played like a huge donk in 1 100bb pot. I'm not even going to post it because I played so bad I don't need advice on the playing the hand, just need to improve my mental game wrt focus and tilt.


BB is a fish, only have 1 hand on him 100/0
UTG is an aggro reg, 31/24 9.5% 3b and 56% fold to 3b.

I'm 3b for value obv and get two calls which I'm pretty excited about. I think I should've raised more on the flop. After I raise and get called, I'm putting BB on pocket potatoes, flush/straight draws, and overpairs. UTG has pretty much the same range minus the potatoes.



LOL fish? Against certain opponents I can give up on this turn, but not this particular guy.



SB is 29/17 tagfish kinda, only have 24 hands so I can't really say too much about his game.

Just in general, this probably isn't the best board to 2 barrel unless I'm going to triple. I'm not very good at poker and failed to read his hand properly.

Over the last several days I watched a couple videos and feel like I'm approaching each situation more correctly than before the last couple weeks.. I still make plenty of mistakes and there are a few in the hands posted above, for example.

I dropped 3 bis in today's session and I snap quit because I know my game starts to deteriorate when I'm losing that quickly. So I at least made the conscious decision to quit when I wanted to, that's a success!

Took some time off to study during the week. I've been playing just 2-4 tables and trying to focus on the action. I think I played well this weekend and took some solid notes on regs tendencies as well as fish. I picked up a copy of Jared Tendler's The Mental Game of Poker for $20 via twitter when Jared mentioned he had a couple misprint/scuffed cover books. I also decided to buy verneer's Mt. Micro Poker and it should arrive Monday. I'll probably read Mt. Micro first as I need to reevaluate my street play more than my tilt at the moment. If things change later I will change my learning schedule.

In honor of BF, I decided to watch a couple videos and grind 6 hours. Here are the results:

Just going to make a short update here. Shortly after my last update, I made a cashout and then went on a 12bi downswing which left my roll pretty short. As I had just received and finished reading verneers book, I thought it'd be best to change it up to FR and focus on playing well.

I've been playing some but not a whole lot, just as I can find time and play when I'm feeling good. I only play 6-9 FR tables (and usually just 6), so I don't get a whole lot of volume in for now. Once I start feeling more confident in my game and get a 2nd monitor, I should be able to put in more hands which will be nice. Below are my results since my last update:





You might notice my graph started to get swongy there at the end. Well that's because my roll got big enough to where I could start taking shots. It's a five buyin shot and as you can see, I've only lost one over 1695 hands. Moving forward, I'm going to keep daily updates itt when I play and start posting hands again. I'm still a noob, but I think I'm much better at poker now than I was 3 months ago.

This was the 3rd time SB had 3b shipped in less than 2 full orbits, so I got super curious and decided to call. I really have no idea what MP2 has here. I bet flop because I'm going to call anything no matter what and since I'm not strong that at least increases my fold equity... but I really expected him to call with anything he flats pre with.





Villian is 32/17, 2.8 3b, 1.5ag, 54 fcb

I'm not sure about how much to bet on the river here. On the one hand, his range is somewhat stronger calling 2 streets and the turn/river cards hit his perceived range range pretty hard for 2p/SDs. But as we can see, he ends up calling down pretty light in position.




This is just over half his stack here and the sizing kinda froze me. I ended up just calling with the top 2 as I thought villain could spazz in this spot with AT+ too. he was some aggro fish, like 83/44

UTG is huge fish and I elect to flat.. if he flats his SPR is super small, so expect to win all his money a decent amount of the time that happens. Well, UTG didn't call, so I tried a somewhat weird ch/c line. I wonder if there is any value in betting $5-7 on the river.

7/26:

Went to the local dog track/card room as they had a $6k gtd $50+5 tourney which I expected would have an overlay. Well it turns out 197 people showed up, so it ended up being almost a $10k total tourney which was a nice surprise.

The blind structure isn't that great and I was card dead and didn't get action the entire time I was there. I actively tried to loosen up a little bit but I kept getting non-connected offsuit cards which just don't play well enough multiway. 3 times it folded to me in either the CO or BTN and I mad 2.5x raises and took down the blinds.

I made it to the first break with about 200T more chips than I started with at 200/400. Blinds went up to 300/600 15 minutes after the break and I blinded down to 3.8k and I'm in LP. UTG+1 (11k) limp, MP1 (15k) limp, MP2 limp (I cover), I look down at AKo and I elect to ship it because there's so much dead money and I wouldn't mind taking it down pre. Folds around to UTG+1 who thinks about it and eventually mucks, MP1 takes his time as well and eventually calls, and MP2 has a hard time folding for his tournament life as well. MP+1 has QQ and I failed to improve on a 2578T board and was busto.

I'm probably going to start playing these small live MTTs to get me comfortable with live play again as I don't have a live roll yet.

7/27:

Poor red line. I was crushing and then a couple pots at the end of the session did me in. Oh well, winning overall is obviously much more important and my showdown winnings compensated.

7/30:

Pretty good day and week in general. Def on a heater. Below are the biggest hands from my last session. A lot of them seem to kind of play themselves and I mess up a few spots, but I play/run good in others.
