I am a semi-regular at Foxwoods casino. I have been playing there for ten years, but have not diligently kept records of my play for any length of time until now. I have a full time job that I'm looking to move on from by May of next year. I have half-heartedly joked with friends about playing poker as a means to sustain myself, but I realized I'm not sure what I would do after this job, and poker sticks out to me as something that I'm excited about and enjoy, so I am considering taking a shot. I want to see if I can handle the strain mentally, as well as win at a high enough rate, to consider poker as a viable option this time next year.

With this in mind I started recording all of my play since January. After 250 hours of play I have won about 10k, coming in at a little over 40/hr playing a mixture of 1/2 NL, 2/5 NL, (one terrible 5/10 shot), 1/2 PLO and the occasional higher plo or plo8 game.

My goal is to reach 1,000 hours played and have a 50k bank roll.
This is a little lofty given my current win rate, but I am hoping to shore up some leaks a long the way and grow as a player.

My biggest leak currently is playing too many hands. I tend to compound this by being a bit overaggressive, both in NL and PLO. The result is that I have gone through some decent sized swings in a relatively short amount of time. I like playing LAG but need to cool it more often, and as I put in more volume this year I want to be able to get a better feel for appropriately switching gears.

I will post results after each session, and if any interesting hands come up I will include those as well.

Its fun to look back at posts you've made. I started this with some good intentions, and obviously went on a downswing, lost about half the roll and didn't pursue things beyond recreational.

However I have continued to play through the years and am still a marginal winner in the game. I've decided to just jump back into this challenge for the hell of it because I'm still playing, still in a job I could give or a take, and goals are fun.

I'll try to post an interesting hand from my latest session. I'll post results good or bad.
I plan to play one weekday a week and one weekend a month if I am able. I will play almost exclusively 2/5 PLO.

Hours:8
Results: $235

Interesting hand from the night:

I am dealt kk93ccss with about $1400 behind, and pot UTG to $20. 6 of us see a flop of 9 3 2 with one club. One check to me and I bet $100 (into $125), short stack player goes all in for $240, reg (has me covered) flat calls, another short stack goes all in for $90, and its back to me.

I decide to call and see a turn, which was the 4 of hearts, where I proceed to check fold to a pot bet from villain. I had figured he would call my flop pot raise given that he had already called the $240 bet from the player between us, knowing I could re-raise, and I thought he may fold to a pot bet on the turn. I may have gotten too fancy here (he did show a completed wrap).

Basically no where haha. I lurked around here, played plo occasionally and just stayed in that 9-5 life, got married, all the fun stuff.

Spent a solid 6 hours playing 2/5 plo last night at a pretty marginal level. It also helps when you miss your 3 big draws on the night in the big pots you play. Terribly played hand of the night below.

Dealt AKQ10 cc on button about $400 or so behind, bunch of limps and I pot to 35, pick up 6 calls. Flop comes 10 5 2c. Checks to me and I bet 125, folds all the way back to last guy who ships. I call? GG top set.
