Re: Follow a beginners grind from 5nl to 50nl

I'm starting to think theres a disadvantage to playing on ignition because it's anonymous plus I prefer playing zoom because there more action . But starting to see crazy hands like 10/6s calls from the sb and check raising flops and light three betting and I can't tag or see who theses players are so I feel like it's probably costing me money.

Re: Follow a beginners grind from 5nl to 50nl

Quick update ive stopped playing for a while i feel like im just not good enough im weak and to tight and i call down to light when im probably beat.

The only reason i got into poker was because i saw the amount of money players where making i would here about players having 100k bankrolls or making 5k a month and thought maybe i could get something close to that. Im originally a sportsbettor betting anywhere from 200-500 on games here and there i know if i had maybe 25k-100k i could flip it to 300k plus only betting a few games per year. i remember turning 500 into 7k in a few games so imagine if i had 25k.

Its just disappointing because the potential to make a good amount of money is there but i just dont know how to really get there with poker. I think what i would have to do is reach 2/5 or 5/10 live or play tournaments. But im not sure if this is truly possible.

I wouldn't exactly call this the most opportune time to try and break into the cash game world.

To turn a 500 roll into a regular source of decent income starting from a novice level would take too much time imo. Years if things don't initially work out (unexpected debt, downswings just to name a couple of things). You mentioned that this is your life roll? If I were in your shoes I would quit poker immediately and get some sort of manual labor job asap. You're going to need to pay for food pretty soon. After youve two feet on the ground and you have some extra cash you should either get an education, or build yourself in some other way. But quit poker. It's not worth it in your situation.

Well my living expenses aren't high only a couple hundred a month I live with my sister. I think what I'm going to do is play $5 mtts small fields maybe under 100players if I bust my roll then I'll just go find a job but if not I'll continue and try to make it.

Re: Follow a beginners grind from 5nl to 50nl

Back before ban I turned 100 into over 1000 playing micros and mtts, on 4 different sites. After turning 1M play money on pokerstars into 40M from mainly mtts. I got bored it sucks to win a whole tournament and get play money. So I recently put 100 on a site and have it up to 300. So it can be done but I made a lot of my money back at sngs when down from 296 to 228 or whatever overextending myself. I wouldn't suggest playing at anonymous tables. I found that there are players I just don't want to play against. Usually the rest of the table is free game. I don't like playing anything lower than 10nl it used to be 25nl before I found out about br management. So if you have the confidence in your ability I'd suggest 10nl because that is what I play now and am sufficiently br with 30 buy ins. Also don't give up on the sit n gos I have been doing well in those but while the bubble is important you should be trying to win. So if I get in best preflop on the bubble or even in a race then that is fine. Hope this helps.
