I remember a high stakes reg once commented that a lot of players do not use the advantage of their range on certain flop textures that favor the blinds versus an utg range. Too often I find myself just autopiloting and playing my hand instead of my range.

So the session went well today, but I have a long, long way to go.

I'm getting roasted in certain spots, becoming very exploitable. I wont say the exact spot, but I've noticed that the population plays this spot very weakly and as it happens fairly regularly, it looks like it can be very profitable for the motivated player. Just another spot that would be nice to know how the solver plays and then use that as a default strategy.

Late night sushi salad: salmon, tuna, and roe. A way better option than fast food.

Where do you stand on HUDS and downloadable Hand Histories? Does it ruin the game for the coveted casual player and give unfair advantage to the "pros"? Or does not being able to track your hands become too much of a nuisance for the online poker player? Will banning HUDS and downloadble Hand Histories improve the quality of the games?

8 tabled today. Other than folding double suited aces preflop once because I was too slow, session felt good. Even added some mid-stakes tables in the mix because there were some obvious spots. All 5 card PLO. Have to say that the games were good this Friday.

Lost a huge pot on Pppoker 200BB Deep. 3 ways.

UTG opens, I flat call JT986ds in CO, BTN who is like 80BB deep 3bets, UTG 4bets and for some reason I am happy about calling this huge re-raise knowing they both have Aces. Flop is J25 rainbow and SPR is 1. UTG shoves, I have no backdoors and I call. I do not win.

Usually in 4 card PLO you are fist pumping when you know both of your opponents are tight and very likey to have aces. So with this run down I made the awesome cold call of the 4-bet after initially investing 3.5bb because I'm a genius, right?

Here's the PPT (I mean, I know it's not a great method to see if my decision was +EV or not, but seeing this opened my eyes a bit).

After discussing the hand with a few people, they told me it was just unfortunate that I ran into these exact hands as I should usually be printing in this situation.

Then again, who the hell knows what they are doing with 5 card.

Haven't bought a poker book in a long time, but I think it's time.

I hope it will answer a question I've had for a long time: How does playing GTO lead to an increase in win rate versus not using it at all? Will I be able to apply these concepts and principles in my own game for profit? Lots of better players are already studying so I am definitely late to the party, so let's get going.

The introduction really got to me.

The reason that I am going to read this book is that I feel like I am getting counter exploited in a lot of spots and that my game has gotten too predictable where my opponents seem to be making the correct decisions versus me, so let's see if this book will improve my approach to poker.

So yesterday, I told poker to f--k off and instead went to the movies to finally watch Avengers: Endgame.
7.5-8/10 if you haven't watched it yet.

I also bought a $15 dollar pretzel. I haven't been to the movies in a while, but I knew they made most of their money from concessions. It was the most expensive thing on the menu and I felt kind of dumb buying it. Everyone else seemed to be buying popcorn.

It was 1.5lbs of Bavarian bread that you would occasionally dip in cheese or mustard while sitting in the dark. The theatre was like 10% full.
There were 2 kids that were brought in by strollers and then carried up the stairs to their seats behind us. They would sometimes cry.

Here's Robert Downey Jr. making over an estimated $100 million for his role in Endgame.
He used to be known for his addictions and his past seemed to follow him everywhere and now he will be forever remembered as Iron Man, Tony Stark, an Avenger.

Went out for a lunch to have some fun on my good friend's birthday.
A nice day for Korean BBQ and some drinks with friends and family.

Pictured just like this.
Plenty of side dishes that come complimentary with your meal.

When you eat Korean BBQ you can't go wrong with Soju. It's about ~22% clear alcohol, so stronger than beer and wine, but weaker than hard liquor.

Typically you drink it neat but there are occasions when you drop a shot in a glass of beer.
Service was excellent. Usually you are cooking the meat yourself, but at this restaurant, the waitress comes every 5 minutes or so to flip over the meat and replace the grill with a fresh one so you don't get burnt meat.
Lots of variety with the BBQ, good conversation, and now we're ready for a nap.

I was playing a hand in 5 card PLO and lost to a straight flush for my whole stack. This experience was so painful and memorable that later on in the day, when I switched over to 4 card PLO, I didn't raise the top full house when a straight flush was possible.

I learned two things:

1) Players sometimes base their decisions on emotional payoffs instead EV. Will this decision allow me to avoid feeling awful?

2) That the specific outcomes of both events shouldn't influence my decision to raise or not. This is the problem of relying on outcomes of hands to aid in future decisions.

Even if my limited experience had been that every time I raised my full house, I ran into a straight flush, that still wouldn't mean that my decision to raise in the first place was wrong.
