Hi everyone!

My name is Mike (WalmartCNXN on PS) and I live in the Kitchener/Waterloo, Ontario. As I've found it very motivational to post previous blogs on 2p2 I have decided to put this one up as well. If you haven't read any before you can expect: grind, a lot of random ranting, hopefully some nice graphs, and if the past is any indication; some serious run good .

Now what's different in this PGC? Well, all of my previous blogs have been all about some combination of: maximizing volume, maximizing profit, maximizing study/efficiency, getting in shape, improving relationships, and eating healthy. Moreover, an ongoing process to become an elite poker player and fund my life along the way. What's different about this PGC is that it is actually going to be about playing less poker and eventually leaving the game entirely.

The reason I am giving myself the year 2018 for one last run in poker actually boils down to a few factors:

-Leaving the game entirely will be extremely difficult for me. I've put in so many hours of grinding, studying, or even just thinking poker in the past ~8 years. It's so tough to leave something that's almost become a big part of your identity.
-I want to give myself time to research/find other passions and have enough time to prepare a reasonable segway into them.
-The enjoyment I have playing poker has declined along with it's profitability in recent years. I feel like the opportunity cost of staying in the game becomes higher and higher each year I play, whilst the profitability shrinks.
-I have always felt like living a normal life is very difficult (for me personally) when grinding so many hours. It has been extremely difficult to be present in my relationships (mentally and physically).
-I am so far in my comfort zone in poker. The time is just beginning to feel right to move into some other avenue that fosters more growth for me as a person.
-Quitting altogether I believe is best. I have always had difficulty with moderation and I really do not want to have poker on my mind all week when I am at some job or w/e.
-The last reason I am staying in the game until December 31st this year is that I feel like there is still a lot of freedom for me in this game and a few things I want to achieve. Funding my life for another year and maybe using the freedom to travel the world a little bit would be really cool.

So anyways, that's why I've decided that this will be my last year in the game. It's a brutally tough decision and it will be tough to part with the game when the time comes. However, I do have one last year to complete the following goals:

-Get my health back to a level where I can feel confident/happy/energetic/proud. I feel pretty good right now but there is a heap of room for improvement. This will be done via gym sessions 4x/week and following a dietary plan...more on those things in another post.
-Continue to improve my dating life. Work on having more selection with women and continue working to screen for suitable longer term relationships.
-Continue to fortify and foster relationships in my life. Give less attention to the ones that are degenerative or toxic.
-Travel a warmer country when the weather is bad to live in a grind house and experience living in another culture.
-Practise meditation regularly and keep working on mindset. Mainly focus/confidence/happiness.
-Find a new career or primary money making venture that can replace poker.
-Grind my ass off for another year and hopefully end up with some nice profit and results
-Come to terms with quitting for good and moving on.

Anyways guys, that's about all I can think of for now. To sum it all up: we can say that 2018 will be dedicated to: health, wealth, relationships, and starting to explore some exciting opportunities that lie in this big dark abyss, that is life outside of poker.

I welcome you to follow and would appreciate it. Off to PCA to get this year started right!

Life beckons....

The good news: The year has gone great so far. Have ate 100% clean, haven't missed a workout, have grinded hard, and kept up with meditation.

The bad news: There's still ~361 days to go in 2018. If I can keep trending in this direction for the rest of the year I will be a mean, lean, fighting machine come December.

It was roughly 1 year ago that I had this experience so I want to tell you guys a little bit of a story along with some findings of my time combing the internet on the topic.

It was a cold December morning when I decided that I should go see the doctor for an extremely rare check up. For some reason I've developed a lot of anxiety about going to doctor's offices and hospitals in the last few years and really feel like I would go there if only I felt like I was dying. However, a few weeks prior my doctor put me on some anti-anxiety type drugs (which I stopped taking after one bottle ran out), that took away a lot of the stress that I had with visiting doctors. I had some health concerns for a while now, just small stuff, but I figured a precautionary check-up was a good idea.

After being called into the office I explained some of the symptoms I'd been having to the doctor. He suggested I should do a blood and urine test which could easily identify some problems if there were any. Likely due to the anti-anxiety drugs I was somewhat ok with getting a needle stuck into my arm to extract blood (this would have made me faint normally).

2 weeks later I received a phone call from my doctor asking me to come back to his office for a talk. Being a nervous Nelly about all of this stuff I was drawing up every possible scenario to what could be wrong with me...WebMD is never a good idea

When I returned to the doctor he told me he wanted to have a chat with me about my blood test results. He said that all my levels were quite healthy for the exception of my testosterone levels. Actually, he said "your testosterone levels are right in the toilet...literally the type of levels that a 65 year old man would have." I had a quick chat with him on how to fix these etc... and I'll give you some info below:

What is testosterone and why is it important? To put it simply, testosterone is the Holy Grail of male hormones. In most cases testosterone is associated with sex drive and being horny or w/e (which is true). However it also has many more functions and contributes to: bone and muscle mass, the way we store fat, mood, confidence, and red blood cell production.

What are the symptoms of low testosterone? Decreased sex drive, low energy, weight gain, depression, mood swings, low confidence, less body hair, thinner bones, higher risk of disease.

This doctor's appointment was actually a very awakening experience for me because I really could not tell anything was really wrong with me. Testosterone levels decrease slowly over time so it's very tough for one to notice any major differences. The doctor told me my low levels were due to lack of exercise and poor diet and being out of shape was allowing fat cells to turn testosterone into estrogen.

So yeah, long story short: you should get your blood levels checked for testosterone levels, eat healthy, and exercise to keep your levels normal.

Side note: I was reading a study that average American male testosterone levels are 20% lower than they were 30 years ago. This is absolutely absurd that there can be such a major change in a massive sample size. It could be changing lifestyle habits, changing diets, increased porn consumption, or maybe some other combination of factors.

I like how Gil3000 includes his monthly and short term goals so I'm gonna set those for January and then come back at end of month and see what I got done:

-Gym 4x/week (hopefully there is a gym @ PCA) ( )
-Eat clean when @ home and as clean as possible @ PCA. Am trying to be cost effective while there so we will see how easy that is ( )
-Meditate 4x/week ( )
-Start a conversation with 10 girls @ PCA ( )
-Make note of misplayed hands or mental game mistakes....take ownership of them ( )

You just have to meet 1 girl and have a nice trip with her
There is no need for 10 if there's one that made your trip awesome, don't push yourself too much and have fun at the PCA
