Fighting my laziness Fighting my laziness

Hi,
Today I read an article that said if I wanna be better at poker, I should work out and maintain a blog so that's what I'll try to do.

Some facts you should know about me:
- lazy
- unsuccessful
- never heard about "don't make the same mistake twice" rule
- the only thing I got going for me is my stubbornness

I hereby invite you to follow me on my journey, which will probably lead through a lot of failure but hopefully end up in the land of success.
I play 6max CG, I have some experience up to NL25, but circumstances force me to start at the very bottom, again.
Alright I'm already tired of writing, here's one hand from today, I'm going to do a quick workout and then off to pub reward myself with 3-6 beers. Cya

Decided to update twice a week for starters. I learnt that you can't just go from lazy to super productive in a day. I'll maybe start slow but steady and I'll keep moving forward.
I will also add one goal each week and try to develop good habits. Goals will be mostly poker or workout related but since I wanna beat my laziness in every part of my life, I will add some other tasks from time to time.

Didn't play much on friday but weekend was ok. I've been running pretty well these days, but instead of enjoying it, I'm awaiting downswing around every corner. So I should probably work on my mindset. But my first weekly goal will be about productivity. I waste too much time in the morning, don't want to get up from warm bed into my cold room and get ready for the upcoming day. So from now on, everytime before going to bed I'm gonna put my clothes next to the bed, prepare my workout mat and a glass of water so I don't have to do it in the morning when I'm the laziest of all day. And everytime I wake up I immediately put on the clothes, drink water and do some exercise on the mat.

Hit 2 straight flushes today and got paid both times!

        Time for an update!
It's only my 3rd post here but I already observe that maintaining this blog has positive effect on me. Talking especially about goals. I don't think I would be able to abide my daily tasks if I never wrote it here and thus created some kind of promise to you, anonymous reader. I can't even wait to add another goal next week since both my nightly and morning routines improved my everyday existence and this motivates me to keep improving.

As for poker, been trying my luck on NL10, hotrun did not follow me there, down 2BIs over 7k hands. I haven't been content with my play lately, I think I'm going too much to autopilot. So finally got myself to study a bit, watched a video about bb defense and worked with my ranges a bit. Next week's goal will be definitely about studying because I wanna establish some order in that area.

        Bigger update on sunday!

        Hi everybody!
Today did not go as expected.

Decided to quit and enjoy rest of sunday. One of my leak is that I play less when I'm winning and more when I'm losing so it's time to change that.

Rest was just coolers, draws never got there, vilain always was at top of his range, usual bad run. But definitely could have lost less if I played better.

            Weekly goals
Morning/evening routine: Except for one morning when I was hungover, done! Installed Habitica on my phone and will be monitoring all my future goals there.

            New goals
M/E routine improved: I have to specify morning workout because sometimes I did just 20 push-ups so I could mark the goal as completed but it's not exactly what I had in mind when I wrote "do some exercise every morning." So from now on, morning workout means stretching whole body from head to toes, doing one set (25+ reps) of push-ups, one set of squats and three diferent abs exercises.
Study session: Every monday morning watch one video and make notes, review hands from previous week and make really deep review of one hand (calculate odds, define ranges etc.)

I will also start reading Mental game of poker. Both downswings and upswings affect me as well as my bad plays and it's really hurting my game and my improvement.
Gonna watch second episode of Taboo, play videogames and read a chapter of Ready Player One before bed. Every day can't be the best day!

Downswing continues, had to drop back to NL4. Until now I used aggresive bankroll management, but constantly changing limits drives me nuts so I will stay on NL4 for some time. I always wanted to move up as soon as possible to make more money, but money is bad motivation. I wanna focus only on my game from now on. Money will come eventually. I also used to constantly watch my results, because sometimes I had to change limits mid session and since I'm results oriented fish, everytime I looked and there was even tiny loss, I immediately started playing worse. Yesterday I only looked at my results after session and it felt much better. My short term goal is to check results once a day after playing, hopefully will reach it soon.

Checking results at end of the day is a really good goal. Shouldnt let result affect your plays, it help when i didnt check for a few days back when i played online.

Been through similar shoes you were in. Hope everything goes well. Persistence is a great attribute to have and if you put in the work results will follow. Good luck op!

            Weekly recap

            Weekly goals
Study session: Done! No problems at all. I used to hate studying and not really sure when or how did it change, but now I relly enjoy it. Especially on downswing, when I can still spend my time with the game I love, but it doesn't cost me any money .
M/E routine: I'd say about 85% done. Didn't skip a day, but usually did morning workout two hours after waking up. It still served it's purpose since I've been more productive right after waking up. I think the exercise mat prepared next to my bed every morning has some psychological effects on me or something.
2 posts in here: I know I'm just adding this to my goals right now, but I think it needs to be here. I kind of have to force myself to post here. Don't take me wrong, I want to make these posts but I'm still just too lazy. And right now even posting in this thread is stepping out of my comfort zone for me. I have to write in foreign language, share my thoughts, so first I have to sort them out with myself and it's not that easy. Plus I'm usually posting in the evening when I'm tired.

            New goals
Stop playing Slither.io: "let's have a quick break and play one game of slither. ok one more game. well i got killed instantly so this doesn't count. ok one more game when i make at least 10k points and then back to work. damn it's 5am already? ok one more game and then off to bed. my wife's giving birth? i'm heading to the hospital right now, just one more game!" If you don't know this game, keep it that way.

Got crushed on NL10, moved down to NL4 and looking to build really safe bankroll. I'm pretty happy with myself last couple of days. As mentioned in my previous post, I started worrying less about results and more about my perfomance and it already has positive effect on my mindset and overall quality of my sessions. I feel like after all those years of wandering I finally found the right way. From now on, my motivation is not to move up the limits but to improve my skills and abilities. It goes hand in hand, but you have to focus on the right thing to make desired progress.
Man I always want to write more but then I get lost in my own thoughts for an hour and when I look back on the screen I see like 5 sentences. Will try to work on that in the future.

This week sucked. Lazy monday turned into lazy tuesday and all of a sudden there's a weekend and then whole week is wasted. Not happy with my perfomance. This week I showed the real me. Didn't do almost any task, wasted as much time as possible, just didn't have any motivation to get out of bed in the morning.
If it was easy, everybody would do it. So let's just forget about this small failure and get back on track next week.

            Hello everybody!

            Long time no see...

I haven't given up on my goals yet, still fighting my laziness. As for poker, I had to make a slight detour on my way to becoming a pro. I have a regular job now. I did't play any poker from start of spring to late august, ended on a big downswing, didn't have any fun playing so I had to take a long break. But my current job leaves me a lot of free time, so one day, I fired up a session. And guess what, I had fun!
Since I have steady income every month, I stopped being so results oriented/affected and started to focus only on my game strategy. I also realized that I always set my goals way too high and never achieve them, like play 100k a month, watch 3 videos every week and make session review every day. So I set myself just one goal for September: play 60k hands. Well, I didn't achieve this one either , but I have good excuse. It took me a few days before I got used to grinding again and I only played, when I enjoyed it. 52k hands is still a win for me!

Mostly mix of NL10 and NL25

Goal for October stays the same. I also want to make more off table work, but not sure what exactly. I don't want to rush my progress into procrastination again, so I won't be adding any other goal until November.

Also, I won a 3bet multiway pot with 7 high. At showdown!
