Re: Evolution: Growing some PLO legs and climbing back to 2011 Breakeven

So I've just finished going through Step 5 (Trouble Hands). Hands I'm playing the worst: trouble connectors. Hands like KQT2 and mostly as a cold-caller. I'm losing with them as the PFR, but not nearly as much and I can make some adjustments by tightening up a bit in UTG/MP and making some alterations postflop.

The worse trouble connectors for me are the gappy mid-rundowns like 9764:heart although looking again, a lot of the -bb/100 aspect is coming from spots where I was way under AIEV.

FreakDaddy: thoughts on running this tab based on EV-adjusted data? I suspect it would be more accurate. I mean, if it says I'm really bad at these, but I'm perhaps not, maybe there are areas it says I'm okay where I've just been running well? Just a suggestion...

As a corollary to the "Trouble Hands" exercise, I looked at my stats by position for pre and post LB (my sample-size for post is kind of lol so I'm not reading too much into this, but I think I have some areas to keep an eye on.

As you can see, I've tightened up a lot UTG/MP (too much, IMO)... It seems like UTG was going okay pre-LB from a bb/100 perspective so I'm going to open back up a bit there and in MP as well. I think there's also some blinds stuff going on, but I'm not going to mess too much with it given the sample-size. As I open UTG/MP back up, I expect my overall VPIP/PFR to get into the 23/15 range which is where I'd like to have it as an intermediate goal.

If anyone sees anything else, let me know.

Re: Evolution: Growing some PLO legs and climbing back to 2011 Breakeven

Just finished the 3-betting section and found some minor adjustments to work on. My fold to 3-bet has always been pretty bad (like ~10 or so). Folding more suited Aces and pairs hands should help me a good bit in avoiding marginal postflop situations and having to c/f a lot.

There are some areas where I can 3-bet more, but a lot of the advice focused on what hands are better to cold-call (instead of 3-betting) or fold.

Of key importance IMO was the information gleaned about 3-betting from the blinds. Which hands to 3-bet, which hands to call, and which hands to fold (a lot of which I was doing slightly off/wrong.)

The filters section is next and I'm pretty pumped about it. I feel like the modules to now have been overview and now I'll be getting into some of the nitty-gritty.

And I'll leave you with the very last hand from my session last night (which took me from the red to the green - still under AIEV, though).

Grabbed by Holdem Manager
PL Omaha $0.10(BB) Replayer
SB ($9.12)
BB ($13.92)
Hero ($16.70)
UTG+1 ($10.06)
CO ($11.56)
BTN ($6.31)

Dealt to Hero 2 Q J A

Hero raises to $0.22, UTG+1 calls $0.22, fold, BTN calls $0.22, fold, BB calls $0.12

FLOP ($0.93) A A J

BB checks, Hero bets $0.60, UTG+1 calls $0.60, BTN raises to $1.20, BB folds, Hero calls $0.60, UTG+1 calls $0.60

TURN ($4.53) A A J 4

Hero checks, UTG+1 checks, BTN bets $2.26, Hero calls $2.26, UTG+1 calls $2.26

RIVER ($11.31) A A J 4 7

Hero bets $7.35, UTG+1 calls $6.38 (AI), BTN calls $2.63 (AI)

UTG+1 shows 4 Q A 3
(Pre 39%, Flop 5.3%, Turn 2.8%)

BTN shows K 2 J J
(Pre 36%, Flop 0.0%, Turn 0.0%)

Hero shows 2 Q J A
(Pre 25%, Flop 94.7%, Turn 97.2%)

Hero wins $24.92

Finished up a little over a BI and ~12 to go to PLO10 BE. I'm really looking forward to getting back to 25 with my game improvements.

Re: Evolution: Growing some PLO legs and climbing back to 2011 Breakeven

Spent today's lunchbreak going through the first 24 filters in Step 7. I think some of the ways it breaks a DB down is pretty smart. Instead of being solely hand or action based, it includes flop texture filters which I've found pretty eye-opening in some areas.

Here's a quick example to drive home my c-betting leaks...

On disconnected FD boards (no straight possibilities):

I c-bet 76.3% and had a success rate of 45.8%.

On connected FD boards (OESD possible):

I c-bet 70.7% and had a success rate of 38.6%.

On very connected FD boards (wraps possible):

I c-bet 72.4% and had a success rate of 31.5%.

Relatively similar c-bet %'s, but with very different results.

Since last graph:

Dearth of PLO10 has me mostly playing 25 atm (and I run bad at 10, too IMO). Gonna have to adjust the parameters of this goal and just focus on improving and taking maneys.

Very interesting. Gonna follow your thread as I just started a similar one, allthough you're lightyears ahead in experience.

Keep the EV line going up and best of luck!

Very interesting indeed, high quality play, perhaps you should become mod in HSPLO forum as well.

Well... I'm hazy on the timing of all this, but at some point I switched to Plo8, and then everything dried up and I haven't played really at all in over a year.

Long story short, no, I didn't turn them all green.
