earning a living....is it possible? earning a living....is it possible?

I'm a long time lover and student of the game. Have never played with any regularity just causally over the last 4 years, mostly live.

recently i find myself with the luxury of time and would really like to delve into poker full time for the next year. A balance of study and play.

I'm wondering if its too late to earn any money at the game? I've noticed the effect that all the mass multi-tablers have had.

would it be best to focus on tournament play?
is HU a viable option?

I'm more than willing to put in the time, primarily for the enjoyment, but ultimately would love to earn enough cash to supplement my artistic career here and there.

what are peoples opinions? did i miss the boat? are the waters still fishy? do i dare dream?

thx everyone.

Learn 2-7 Triple Draw

Easy game to learn yet very few players can go 5 miutes w/out doing something completeley irrational

Im up $400 over the last 16 days playing around 2 hours a day on average. All hands played at .50-1.00.

Playing live = Get a $4-5k bankroll and go play NL200-500 at the fishiest Casino you can find.

No maths, no bots, no bull****, you don't even have to be good.... Just find people who are bad and don't play like total **** and you'll win.

On the internet, HU is probably the game in NL where you can still gain the biggest edge relative to your opponents. You can get it a very good volume too and you can already make a decent living starting at 50NL HU.

The downside of course is that you need to be pretty good. From the sound of your post you're not very experienced and you're probably better off getting a job first and really learning the game for a year or so.

Grab a couple of books, when you feel confident throw on some $$ and see how it pans out for you.

thanks for the feedback guys...

I played HU sng's all day. mixed results but really loved it. Definitely have much to learn, but feel really inspired by the format.

The only casino around is Halifax. I really want to check it out. I feel like my limit game is strong enough to do some small damage.

did some light reading about 2-7 triple draw. plan on absorbing a little more then giving it a shot.

it was nice to have a break from playing multi tables...it definitely sucks the love out of it for me. Feels like I learned more today playing HU then in three weeks playing four tables of 10nl

thanks again.

there are people that grind insanely high volumes without making a profit in the hands itself, they just play to unlock SNE and FPP cash bonuses and make over 100k a year with that (100NL) its on fpppro.com

every option is good as long as you beat the game, and pretty much every game is still beatable with more or less work depending of the state of the game

right now I'd say that the easiest way to make a living online is SSNL ring games (HU, 6m or FR) at nlhe or plo since that's where the fish is at, you can put volume easily and its not like the level will rise up to 1Knl's soon or something

I have no live experience so I can't relate on that topic
