Haven't had Lagavulin, will check out.

Oban is nice, IIRC a bit too smokey for my tastes.

Balvenie 14 is good, more of a sherry cask guy myself but the Caribbean cask version is good. I celebrate the entire Balvenie catalog.

If that is the case you won't like Lagavulin

Try Carggamore (sp?), should be more up your alley.

Anything by Aberlour, especially their double-woods.

Dalmore 12, Dalwinnie 15.

If you don't care for Laphroig, you also won't like Lagavullin.

Wait, Oban too smoky? I don't even. I think you have it confused with something else. Oban is a very, very smooth Highland, that if people don't care for it, it's usually because they think it doesn't have enough character.

In!

I cant resist at thread from a guy with such good taste of music: i also love indierock of all different kinds alongside some more classic rock bands like Pink Floyd and Dire Straits.

What do you think of bands like Mew (Danish band, one of my fav ever and they kick so much ass live its unbeliveable), and Scottish Biffy Clyro? The Shins also should fit perfectly into you taste i would think.

I listen so much to Mew and Biffy Clyro its almost ridicilous

Need to get into Biffy Clyro, have heard a lot of good things.

The Shins are a fun band for sure.

Don't know Mew, thanks for the reco!

Check out Spoon - they're the kind of band I'd chop a limb off to go see live

No problem, my pleasure. Mew and Biffy Clyro are bands that i can almost guarantee you would love to death when you take the time to get into them.

If you want some reco of particularly livesongs with those bands let me know, as i have seen everything available on youtube basically: Biffy are all about energy, passion for music ,and the lads huge love for performing and being on a stage. Mix that with an unbelieveable ability of creating melodic good rock songs and you find a killer band.

I will not spam you with links, but it would mean alot to me if you watch this one when you get the time to do so. Biffy Clyro finally was the headliner at the Reading festival couple years ago, wich have been the guys biggest dreams since starting the band for many many years ago. This clip shows the last song of the night: their monsterhit "Mountains".

Spoon ive never ever heard of, are they also guitarbased indierockband?

About a year or so ago we had some couples over to the house that we had gone to Vegas with the year before. This one guy had put together a video slideshow of the trip that we were all going to watch. I don't know the guy very well, but he's middle aged (slightly older than me) and I believe works heavy equipment, so I'm expecting a lame-o 70's/80's MOR rock track. The opening title screen on pause has "Rumble" by Link Wray (or perhaps it was "Green Onions" by Booker T., can't remember exactly), which I love, but still pretty convinced its going to go downhill.

The second song? "New Slang" by The Shins. Gotta admit, did not see that one coming at all.
