Update 8th Jan 2015

Bankroll is currently at:

I am finding myself currently combining zoom tables and reg tables as this allows good volume and lets me bumhunt. The combination of these is giving me a good winrate so far.

I open one table of zoom and I start up to 4 new regular tables. I only stay at the reg tables if I spot a player who is spewing a lot. Otherwise, I close the table and start another reg table up. Eventually, this leads me into getting some money off whales.

I had a mini-spew last night myself. I think I had burned out from all the hands I played yesterday and this caused me to lose focus. I quickly recognised it and stopped playing after losing just 2 buyins at 5nl. I would have been at $125 if it werent for that. Bah.

I am finding myself taking a lot of "pitstops". These small breaks every so often seem to really help!

oh well... 1000 hands today is the goal, lets do this!

I have to get ready for work, just been hammering 5nl zoom for about an hour.

Doing okay still! Goal is to reach $200 by the end of the week (hopefully) and move up to 10nl next week!

Update

Finally, variance has hit me. After a 500 hand session, i'm down 3 buyins at 5nl zoom.

I've been "runner runnered" 4 times, been sucked out on twice and lost several flips too. One hand I even flopped TPGK + 4card Flush+ Gutshot Straight and it turns out my villain had flopped top set. With me having the top card out as well as the above, it was just a severely unlucky situation for me to be in.

Sessions like these are what "stoplosses" are for... I suppose.

I think it's a good time to take the day off and have a rest day from poker!

Just finished a review of my hands to date and compared it to the strategy I have got hold of. I am not playing according to what I should be doing. I'm not following it!

For that reason, there is a slight change of plan.

Target for the remainder of January= 100 hands a day using Pokersnowie STRICTLY following the Preflop ranges and Postflop flowcharts that I have printed out.

Just finished session 1 of doing this (100 hands in Pokersnowie on 1 table). Pokersnowie gave me an "expert" rating with only $2.75 lost through choosing a 2nd best option postflop. Total "Pretend" Profit made on pokersnowie= $114.

This is really dull and tiring as I have to look at the charts for every single decision and follow them. Hopefully with just under 3 weeks left in the month (meaning 1900 hands should be played on pokersnowie), I should have learned them off by heart and can jump back into real games during February. I may make the occasional mistake in February, however I should be mostly profitable due to the ground work done with this default strategy in January.

Sweet mother of god don't use Snowie at 5nl

I'm using snowie just as a simulator to practice this default strategy.

When I am at the table, it times out before I can check the print offs and find out what it says I should do as a default. By using pokersnowie, I don't time out so it gives me chance to check the charts and ONLY play according to it.

Of course, PERFECT PRACTICE MAKES PERMANENT. This means if I keep using snowie to reinforce the correct behaviours then eventually I will be using this strategy perfectly as a default!

It is just, by chance, that this default strategy I have seems to be favoured by pokersnowie too!

I feel it is good to have a default strategy that is learned well, then adapt to opponents when I move up in stakes as opponent's strategy should be more consistent at 25nl+. At the lower stakes, opponents are more likely to randomly deviate from there default strategy!

Snowie is so far from correct, especially at 5nl

They did recently update the "GTO AI". However, im not interested in following its advice... just using it as a simulator.

Update

I am on an HUGE downswing, flopped set vs set several times, fh vs fh 3 times, runner-runnered 6 times... wow (and this was just today).

I've gone from around $200 and moving up to 10nl, down to 5nl when I hit $160, now I am at $130 and ive decided to drop back to 2nl where my edge is higher and ride out this downswing.

The poker gods are definitely biting back this week!

Sorry to correct you, but he turned it into more than $100.000 in 9 months . Definitely one of the students with the best work ethic i had.

Wish you the best on your journey!

I may be getting in touch with you when I reach 50nl. I'm using your stuff as my default strategy at the moment.

Update:

Switched to a new poker site as I was given some advice regarding softer games for "Fast Poker" that I prefer to play.

So far, $100 in profit and rising. Will soon be back up to 25NL I hope! Another $200 to go!

Hey Dan. I liked reading your thread. I have a similar PGC thread here. BTW how much was your BR when you started? Is this softer site you speak of top secret?

Hey and thanks for the interest.

The site I play on and 888 seem similar with regards to fish. Id stay where you are!

Bankroll was originally $78, but ill admit I am being a little overly aggro with it. I'm moving up a little earlier than I probably should at times. However, if I lose a few buyins I will drop instantly!

Today's Results:

One table of careful and well thought out play against bad opponents.
The results speak for themselves...

I'm looking at starting 25nl properly at a BR of around $500

Created a blog on my site for the challenge, I also am streaming on twitch.

With regards to progress, I spent most of today creating promo videos for my twitch account so have played very little. I am about to start a mini-session now but I have had 4 hours sleep and been awake about 18 hours now. Let's see how this goes...

Im trying a one buyin shottake every so often. The idea being I get used to the stake above so when I make the proper move up it doesnt seem scary or different at all.

Lost the buyin. Moved down to 10nl again. Bankroll stands at $308

I call this a "Sneak Peak" and will do it if I have at least 30 buyins for the current stake!

I'm confused.. doesn't Pokersnowie help you implement an approximated GTO strategy?

I'm not playing 600nl against tough players, why would I want to learn a "break-even" strategy like GTO that barely makes a $ yet?
DANSthegreat.... Replicating the success of HansTheGreat Quote

GTO isn't a breakeven strategy, except against GTO players.

Compared to learning a good exploitive strategy against bad players, it might as well be a breakeven strategy!

We aim to make the most +EV plays at all times, playing exploitive up to 100nl against bad players should be a higher EV imo.

Read this:

http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/sh...7&postcount=52

While obviously maximally exploitative is more +EV, I'd be very surprised if a GTO strat didn't do better at the microstakes than any existing player.

How about you take your theory book nonsense and down it with a pint of vodka?

I ain't gonna use some BS like GTO at such a low stake. I'm not studying 10 hours a day for 2 months just to win 2bb/100 because the "theory" says it is correct.

Exploitive is the way to go and I will be using it until 400nl!
