Drowsiness

I might not get the time to indulge in the rest of a mini-retreat before flying to Dublin This said, I will have 2 days in Ireland before the toureys start where I can see the merits of a 10h meditation day to brush away the effects of the jet lag as well as releasing some of that mental fatigue

I finally watched the much discussed last hand of WPT Montreal which Doug Polk made an analysis of (much worth viewing) : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f1sY4vr4OkQ

A couple things on this hand though : they had already made a deal and only 40k (of the what, 1.6 mil...) was put aside... And they had agreed to not limp preflop (arguably to speed up things given that they were playing the HU for tv purposes, mainly...). Still a sick hand though, isn't it I played a significant amount vs both (my first table on Day 1 was in fact with Emma who showed some prowess from the get go and everyone in Montreal knows her) and can assess that they both have a tremendous amount of game.

Will be going into the MTT lab starting tomorrow, as perhaps a HU is in the books for yours truly in those Dublin upcoming events yo

Quick rant : I fracking hate the Boston Celtics... Not the team as per say, but this public persona that surrounds them which includes their f**king bloated reputation even if this version of the team (not the historic one, of course not) have done shyt all I mean, year after year they are placed clearly ahead of the Raps even if since that Pierce, Garnett, Allen, Rondo etc. championship team, they have tripped over their shoelaces on every possible occassion I soooooo hope the Raptors square off with the Celtics in the playoffs this year... I have been waiting for this matchup for 4 years now, and it might just happen come May... Disclaimer :
Spoiler:
they stand no chance

I caught the game on League Pass and given that it was held in Boston, I f**king had to endure the commentary of some twit-half-brain-fracking-homers being emotional about every call, every gesture and even taking aim at Kyle Lowry for frack's sake I mean, this was worse than listening to some 13 year old teenagers completely brainlessly-passionate rant about their home team OK there Celts commentator, you can be some completely ignorant moron that is fanatic af, but learn how to say Siakam's name for Pete's sake ; I mean, the guy was just named the player of the week Is it too hard for your unilingual Anglo-Saxon brain to get out of your way and pronounce a name the non-English native way
Spoiler:
no disrespect to the Celtics fan, I actually always liked the team and am thoroughly enjoying this rivalry

(Deadly) Departures

At the Montreal airport right now for the ensuing Keflavik-Dublin flight Was curiously a bit emotional on the way to the airport... As this novel that I read a lifetime ago stated, "a part of you dies" when you leave... If this is the case - which I happen to think it is -, I have fracking died 1001 times over and over again while turning around, doing flips and endless summersaults in my grave Of course, relationships/our contact with others define us and as far as the leaving behind love ones department goes, I am as elite as they come

The 2.2k Highroller starts on Wednesday evening, thus giving me a generous 3 day cushion to brush off the jetlag, get use to my new surroundings and dig out some mental fatigue during the course of a 10h meditation retreat in my hotel room yo The ME will debute on Friday and both events are capped at a single reentry, which will hence open up a more aggressive strategy for yours truly yo

Cliffs : he degened (as predicted) busted his low 5 figure roll, fell in depression/played video games/stopped posted on 2 + 2 for 2 months, only to get staked for 1-3 on a very strict deal. He then borrowed 20k from his staker at 60% (or so) yearly (1.2% compounded weekly or the likes...). Well worth the read Too many toxic trollers in that thread (about a handful he tilt the living shyt out of me ). OP has just bought a flight for some Sydney events (against all advice) and seems to be on course with his degen ways, but has nonetheless paid back 7k of the loan

Speaking of other threads that I have been following : there is another which I enjoy and similarly as the aforementioned thread, I had grown a liking into the OP... except that he has become your entitled little sexpat f**k, is stuck in this little SEA bubble where broke f**ks from first world countries show up there, never learn the language, don't give a rat's arse about getting/spreading STDs or getting girl's pregnant (and not taking responsibilities for either) and being oblivious to the poverty/suffering that surrounds them Reminds me so much why I was sooooo fed up with SEA I mean, part of it is me always having high expectations on other people and myself, but I just thought this fellow was going to do better than become another ignorant toxic sexpat

Window Seats

So I had booked window seats - you know, cross-Atlantic flights kind of justify the comfort implied in an additional 12$ price tag, right - but when I arrived on my first 5h flight, the guy asks me if I mind sacrificing my window seat for his middle seat so he can join his gf... I sigh, moan, was about to reply "no" until the tinge of selfishness got dissolved and I realized that this was a good opportunity to do a selfless endeavour Vipassana gradually changes those egostical instincts and replaces them with compassion, albeit sometimes it takes a second or 2 Anyhow, I did manage to get an alley seat, made it through my flight, hopped on my 2nd Keslavik-Dublin itinerary and even if this one was going to be a mere 2h1/2 affair, there was just no f**king way I was going to surrender my window seat this time I was just too fracking tired to not think of my needs at the front of the whole f**king world - save perhaps the Apocalypse... and even then -, hence I couldn't care less when I see a 75 old lady comfortably lounged in my seat : I sit beside her, look at her and assertively let her know that that she is occupying my seat. She plays her old lady card and asks "which one is 27B then?", but I couldn't give a rat's arse about her old lady ways until... I see that cane lying beside her and my humanity suddenly comes back to me

My plan to meditate kind of got replaced by pure utter laziness I did manage to meditate for 4h, but I thought that dropping 3k online would be a better idea

I will go check out the downtown area tomorrow and perhaps get a massage. The Highroller debuts Wednesday evening, still leaving me with a fair amount of time to chill and rest

Fighting Leprechaun

So here I am grinding this morning - ehhhh you know those spots where you manage to trap villain into spewing away/GII as a 75-25% dog for 1.2k yet, even after doing everything right, you still manage to lose -, while listening to DAT Poker Podcast (the Dnegs, Adam and Terrence chan podcast), when the guys start praising Dublin as their funnest destination ever Of course, I snap out of the poker world, come back to myself, glance away from my laptop/monitor only to catch the obscurity of the 4 walls of my messy hotel room confining me from the Irish realm in question

I was not too impressed when they switched from Paris to Dublin the location of the UO After all, one is known for its exquisite food (), its romantic language (which happens to be my mother tongue ) and its majestic buildings/cultural heritage ; while the latter is known for its... its... not sure tbh... Irish pubs perhaps

I am of course reserving for much later my opinion on the city, but given that I do not drink and that the food/cafes seem to be lacking in originality/sheer numbers, I think it might not be my cup of tea… Or coffee, for that matter Am in fact writing these words from the (dis)comfort of a Starbucks downtown which would not exactly be my preferred chill out spot, to say the least

Being stuck 5.6k this early in my Dublin journey was not part of the plan, but you know, time to final table one of these events yo

Only 22 entries thus far in the HR. On top of that, most of these are from pros I could not exchange my USD (8% fees), nor was I going to use my debit card (3% fees) or hop in a taxi to the nearest atm (20 minutes round trip), but that still did not prevent me from going aggro in the last level of the day when I was down to 10-18bbs

Had an interesting hand vs David Lappin in the first level when I called with Q10 in the CO vs his HJ open. Busted 15/26 (I believe...) when I opened 77 from MP only to see SB shove for 30bbs effective I mean, the guy is a kid, had played very tight thus far and was using his image to get fold equity... yet he looked nervous, obviously made his middling hand transparent af and as much as I hate to take such high variance spots (he does have enough low pairs which I crush) as I run broadways most of the time, I just couldn't let go of this equity (probably in the 54-58% range) in a pro-infested field, especially when there is no ICM implications involved...
Spoiler:

It was a pretty fun tourney, albeit too fast of a structure, and a tougher field than the 5ks in Montreal Of course, since the stakes do not matter much for me (pretty interesting how fast we adapt to stakes and consider what was once quite significant monies, nowadays fun money ), the entertaining factor becomes more relevant

I am fine with it. In fact, I have left significant traces of my identity throughout this thread that one would only to put 2 + 2 together to figure out who I am. I also linked directly an interview answering personal questions/revealing my identity.

Nonetheless, I do kind of like being somewhat anonymous because I am modest and do not like too much attention drawn upon myself (at least in life...), but given that I protect the privacy of my other social-media accounts (am well aware of cyber security and guard myself vs Doxing/identity theft/trolling), I am completely deliberate about opening myself with a public persona over here I also plan on putting myself more out there once I finish my book and want to promote it yo

Thx for the warning though, I appreciate it bro

Down the Green Drain the Monies Flows

Well that's all she wrote folks : busted 2 bullets in the ME as apparently you cannot run like GOD in every event series that you reg in I might play a small PLO event tomorrow (because 4 card is much funner than 2 ) or grind online and go spend some time in town... Either way, we are stuck a significant amount this week, down to 208k for the year and the new yearly goal will be to cross the 225k threshold

Played an interesting hand today - which happened to be the first hand of the tournament and had I played it properly, I would of busted 5 minutes into the event - where CO open-raises, I called OTB with 109, as does the BB. Flop comes 1010J, CO bets, I call, BB raises 4x, CO folds and I call. Turn is the 8, BB bets fairly big and I call. River is the 6 and villain bets a smaller 40% PSB and here is where I go wrong : given that I am last to act in what is seemingly a call or fold situation, I let go of my robotic-emotionless-stoicism and siggghhhh deeply out loud Problem is, I have played with villain before and I know from an obvious physical tell, that he has the A and hence not a fullhouse ; I could of shoved (for 6x or so) with my FH, but my verbal tell has kinda capped my perceived range ... I give it some thought for a minute or so, thinking of shoving again, but eventually find a fold
Spoiler:
villain did indeed have the nut flush, A10 but clearly stated that he would of called (he is not lying)

Thx bro I am really not concerned about being stuck 5 figures this week, as I have cashed for just over 6 figures CAD this year in live MTTs (still waiting on the Diamond Tooth Casino crew in Dawson to submit, for the first time, this summer's WhiteRam events to the Hendon Mob ) and had very little expectations as far as these Dublin events went. What I really want though, is to turn around my recent virtual run bad in the next couple of weeks

Restless Junked Up

I'm tired. I never really fully recovered since WPT Montreal and it is not a half-arse empty attempt at a few hours of meditation that will get back into the swings of things My sleep has been sporadic at best over here and I have yet to fully adapt to the this time zone This said, apparently I will not be able to grind online for the duration of my stay in Czech Republic, so will find myself with a week's worth of free time to meditate, write and visit yo, so I will use 2 days in Prague to dig deep inside and scrape this shyt out of me

Expectations change along the journey, don't they... If you look at perpetual bottom dwellers like the Toronto Raptors for instance (a time during which the simple favourable outlook of some promising young player was enough to excite the fan base) that now suddenly find themselves to be in an elite class, they ironically find themselves to be their worst critics, dissecting every bit of their weaknesses even if they happen to find themselves with the best winning record in the league Or yours truly, for that matter, that has largely surpassed his initial 2018 goals yet finds himself trying to plunge every potential leak in sight It is always a matter of perspective, right, especially when seen from the (at times) opposing views of critical insight and the pedestal glance of the outside world...

Speaking of perspectives, I found myself a tinge complacent with the lower BIs in Dublin (even with the HR, I hate to admit...) It is unlike me to take this poker journey for granted and idem with the dollars $$$ involved, yet such is a normal reaction after a sizeable score like the WPT was... Anyhow, moving on my biggest goal will be to renew with my winning ways online and in life, of course, like soon meeting up with that lovely Romanian chick in Madrid yo

Silver Plaque (AKA Bounty Hunter)

Well that was quite unexpected, to say the least!!! I came down to check out the ME final table and speak with some of the Unibet Reps, when I decided to late reg a Progressive Bounty Turbo (100 + 100 + 20 euros). For those of yous who have not played one of these before - because I sure had not -, when you bust a player, 50% of the bounty goes into your pocket and the other half is placed in front of you as part of your own bounty up for grabs (and I was of course LAGging it up, sending jabs left and right, uppercuts here, kick in the nuts there, and hence the beneficiary of the most bounties throughout the tournament yo ). The other good news is that I was chip leader for most of the event, to the extent where I got the joke “what, did you bust your whole table!?!” When I would show up at a new table Anyhow, fast-forward 6h later and there I am holding up the trophee up and making this Dublin trip a profitable one after all - barring online, of course, which still leaves me in the red for the week

Off to Prague tomorrow where I will be spending 3 days before hopping on a train and meeting up with my buddy in rural Czechia. I do have a date lined up for tomorrow evening with this Filipina chick (with whom I have been chatting for the past 5 months, actually), but she seems a bit iffy and shy about the whole ordeal, so it would not surprise me if she would pull a last-minute cancellation and I can't be half-arsed to put in some effort, tbh… TBD

On the lady front, I have my eyes set on this Romanian chick who has been living in Spain for 20 years now. She is 44, looks younger than me , speaks 5 languages, has a good job in finances, is a single mother of 2, classy, beautiful as can be, loves the outdoors, liberal-minded (I think...) and seems to be pretty much what I am looking for... on paper We will see... The only thing that I do not like about this potential LTR hookup, is she lives in Madrid and not South of Spain by the beach in like Malaga or something.

I might be able to play online after all from Czech Rep, but I do think that I need to go inward for at least 8-10h of meditation... Yeah, I really do, me thinks, so most likely will do so tomorrow and the start of the following day, just to refresh the body and mind a little bit and keep me half-arse sane until my 10 day retreat in Barcelona in mid-January yo

haha, gotcha man TBH, location is definitely not a deal-breaker (and Madrid is more appealing for me than the potential Calgary or Munich that implied respectively hooking up with the Japanese chick or the Belarusan one), but Madrid would not be my first choice in Spain. If she is LTR material, than I will go out of my way/be more than flexible to make it work.

What would be more of an obstacle, is significant differing views in politics, me thinks. Sure I do appreciate some of the ideas of libertarians, for example, but for my partner to be (somewhat) leftist is a must, unless it is casual, than I could not care less

Any plans to visit Poland while you're in this part of Europe? GRANDEURS

My ayahuasca triop was my most noteworthy moment in 2018 and perhaps my life. Along with my 20 day vipassana inward journey in Israel, that is. Both of which led to encounters with transcendental yet curiously distinct spirits (despite their similarities in terms of pure loving vibrations ) : while Lady Aya is clearly a feminine entity, dhamma is seemingly genderless or at least neutral
Spoiler:
this said if I had to choose in between masculine or feminine, I would point towards the former…
The point is, polytheism is the shyt in their various forms of divine representation yo

I guess the reason why Monotheists religions have strived in popularity throughout (recent) history, lies perhaps in their simplicity : Trinity or not, there is 1 Major God around which the tradition revolves around. That simple. 1 fracking Authoritative figure (and usually Patriarchal). From whom is derived a set of rules/laws. A livelihood. A guideline. That's it. Enuff said. Take it or leave it

Polytheists beliefs (think Mayans, Native Americans, Druids etc.) derived from multiple and more complex transcending sources, making this whole ordeal/system of belief a bit more heterogenous, right, like take the Maya calendar, the Native American ceremonies (Ayahuasca, mushrooms, peyotl, herb, Shaking Tent, Sweat Lodge…) or African Voodoo Paying tribute to the Sun God, Gaia, elfic spirits and whatnot, seems to rely more on intuition or a rite of passage (and thus individualistic), as opposed to a fracking collective schizophrenic monotheist faith Bah, such have been my digressive thoughts over the past couple of weeks, when I have been contemplating the different apparent natures of Aya and Dhamma…

Anyhow, I am leaning towards going back to South America this winter and doing a few Ayahuasca journeys (in the jungle of Peru and Bolivia). I will also do a 10 day vipassana retreat prior to engaging Lady Aya again, as I want my mind to be clear before going f**king deep again Speaking of which, I put in a 150 minutes session today 8 tabling without taking any breaks, which speaks largely of my clarity of mind after my mini-retreat this week

On Foreign Weddings and Dark Washrooms

Add Czech Republic to my list of weddings in foreign countries where I did not speak the local tongue (Phils with my ex and Mexico off a hitchhiking ride, back when Spanish was yet to be mastered by yours trully) Fun times, had some great conversations, and apparently ayahuasca is a thing here in in Czech land - or perhaps I just have a knack for locating the Aya peeps . A few days spent with my buddy and his newly wedded wife and then (finally ) Madrid on Thursday yo

You guys heard about the 100k bet where the parameters involved was a hotel washroom and darkness... Or, more precisely : to confine himself in a closed/dark washroom for a month str8 without any lights or any devices indicating the time... The wager is 1 : 1. Food is delivered 3 times a day and the only prerequisites being to tough it out I mean, that would be the easiest 100k I ever made I would have a room, peace of mind to meditate, my needs attended for and enough room to stretch out and the likes. The hardest part would be being deprived of any temporal references, as I do like to have a set routine for meditation, yet could nonetheless easily wing it out Crazy how one man's hell could be another one's paradise
Spoiler:
of course, going deep into meditation is one of the toughest journeys ever, but so fracking beneficial

Unfortunately, no live poker in Poland, but you can still grind online - technically it's illegal, but nobody cares about/enforces that law.
Haha, good stuff No, I got a flight for Madrid on Thursday and and will call Spain home for the next 10 weeks. The plan is to visit Italy and Malta during my stay here, but that's about it for now. I do intend on coming back in the summertime for another 3 months stint and I do want to visit most countries. Anyhow, thx for the recommendation, I will definitely put it up the list bro

Loser

Meh, the losses keep adding up - or subtracting - at an alarming rate When it is not the virtual realm that is throwing me downward the digital abyss, it is my Czech buddy that is whipping my arse at ping-pong, at 50 Euros a clip, that is Although I did gradually lower the wagers down to a stark 2 Euro for our last game This said, funny how he refuses to play me at chess or other strategic mind games, right

Back on the Spanish tomorrow where I will have my first Spanish Skype course in fracking ages So not only will PLO be our focus in the next 3 months, but being fluid in Spanish will be placed at the forefront of the studying.

Booked a weight loss prop with the aforementioned Czech friend ; we both find ourselves presently at 202-208 or so and the goal is to be at 192lbs (87kgs) by September If we both make it, our 500$ bet is void. A solid way to get healthier

Off to Prague tomorrow where I will hopefully turn this prolonnnnngggggg downswong around
