Ah right ok.

Would love to play live more. Everytime I have though I get so nervous my hands shake when I handle the chips.

For uncapped games it really is game specific. It depends on how deep the game plays, rake, player pool... In a low rake juicy deep $2/5 home game I'm sure $75-100/hr is attainable.

Keep in mind, these are max win rates. Most poker players delude themselves into thinking they are better than they are (true for myself even). Most winners are going to win in the $0-35/hr range at $2/5.
Thanks for the feedback! What would you estimate your personal top-end potential for a 5-10NL average, capped game? What would be IYO, the top end hourly for a solid player in said game?

Alright I've decided to learn PLO since there are so many players who play any four cards (AFC?). Do you think playing online is basically mandatory or just nitting it up at live while observing other people is good enough?

Assuming standard rake and okay game selection (say, LA)..

First off, I'd need a few days to get back into the hold 'em mindset.. I believe I could beat it for $80-100/hr over a large sample.

Not sure what IYO is, I'd say $100-120 is the max someone would be able to make in such a game

hehe yeah AFC. Uhm, for learning online is 10x times better. live PLO is pretty boring compared to live NLH imo. Learning curve is super slow live. I still have not seen a player I would consider a good reg.

This trip was a disaster.. I think its my biggest losing trip of all time. tonight, -$1475 over 6 hours. Cliffs; Variance owned me for $1375, then I made a tilt call on the river for a hundy.

Got in $1000 in a SRP with bare AQ (spr=~9) on a KJTss against AT43ss and JJ**. Second hand: Raised AJT4ddss went to the flop 6 ways, potted a AJ6hh flop, 2 callers, turn Th (obv), SB leads pot.

Final hand of the night;

Hero has AA**, tighter bad reg limps UTG, hero raises to $45, folds to UTG who calls,

Flop ($100)

7 7 7

Villain checks, Hero bets $30, villain calls,

Turn ($160)

6

Villain checks, Hero checks.

River ($160)

5

Villain bets $100, hero laughs, claims its the last hand of the night if he loses, cawls, gets shown QQK7.. :\

Anyways, this is a horrible call. Villains is not spewy enough to bet anything other than 7***, and he is never floating OTF..

In non-poker life, failed at picking up on Friday. Spent the some of today with a fob japanese girl I met in the hostel. I can hardly understand her english. She's like 5'2 and 100 pounds, fairly cute. I talked with her about sex and sadly she's standard FOB asian.. aka 0% chance of sex.

Anyways, poor volume, average play, -$$, no sex, little fun.

Yea I just wasn't sure since you're mainly playing ~4 way pots in live and I'm sure that's not the case online, and wasn't sure if people's ranges were entirely different. I suppose I should definitely practice online before jumping into live PLO games for $1k buyins but to be completely honest I probably will just do the latter... lol

Playing okay last couple of days. I think I'm vbetting too small in most spots on the river. Seem to be getting snapped off by weak holdings when I bet in the ~2/3 range. Should start 3/4'ing it..

Hand 1, I'm not sure we have enough fold equity to make bluffing the flop profitable in and of itself.

Hand 2, I think is close, and in order to stack off, we have to expect that villain will 4bet hands like AQJT.

Hand 3, Interesting turn sizing, this definitely wouldn't be my standard. I would usually bet $12, aiming to get calls from TT-KK, flush draws, and folding to a raise. River, I would usually bet 2/3, aiming to get calls from flushes, but I kinda like your sizing if it gets calls from 2pair and we don't have to worry about villain bluff-raising.

For hand 1, When I barrel turn to barrel river I'm risking ~$50 to win ~$35, so it needs to work ~60% when I have diamonds.. Maybe its -EV.. close regardless.

For hand 3, I think turn could have been in $10-12 range, lots of JJ-KK OTR, hence my sizing.

Good session today

There isn't too much to learn here that is applicable to live PLO. FR PLO with 75% table vpip plays different.. Regardless, I hope my SSPLO info was helpful!

I've been playing more tables lately with around the same proficiency as last month. Hands/hr has increased from 313 --> 365. I'd like to stick around this level for a couple months.

I've been making lots of marginally bad plays with medium strength hands in SRP against unknowns. When I have a pair+FD and the SPR is 7-10 my standard is to c/r. Pretty sure c/c is best, perhaps donking.

I'm currently sitting in a starbucks that has 0 attractive girls. F'ing Whistler. Fortunately, I'll be using this time to crank out a hand history review marathon. I want to be focusing mainly on hands where I flop a strong hand with SPR 7-10.

First off, c/r'ing here doesn't really accomplish much. I'm going to get hands with 10-15% equity to fold (pair+gutters), overpairs, Q***. Then, I'll end up getting crushed versus his 3b get it in range.

Assuming that villain isn't capable of punishing me with position, and that when he 3bets the flop he has a set, wrap, or pair+high FD.. I think c/c'ing, c/r/f'ing and donk/folding are (in order) the best lines on this flop. c/r/get in has got to be bad seeing how I need ~35-36% to get it in.

This hand is interesting to me, so I'm going to post it in SSPLO.

I like c/r'ing here because visibility is poor on future streets, and an aggro fish is naturally going to exploit me.. Any 6-J I have to c/f, folding some equity, and any 2-5, Q-A, I donk pot and then have no idea what to do on rivers. Played this one well.

I did a few more reviews on my own/with my housemate. Gonna head back and grind a session.

Hand 1 is standard

Hand 2 - I'm just flatting the donk and playing a turn IP. Any 5,6,7,T and hearts are good for us.

We can bluff diamonds if we're checked to.

3h, 4h, 8h, are also great cards in that we pick up equity and can also bluff raise and rep a straight with blockers if he stabs weak.

Hand 3 - River is a check fold imo, any hand that called you on the turn that you beat will likely check back the river for show down, Unlikely that he's turning top set, top 2, 89 into a bluff or value betting a J hi FD.

Hand 4 - Standard. Probably need more hands on the BTN before 4b a 3b vs UTG raise though

Hand 5 - Depending on how 3b happy the blinds are I might just min raise this from the BTN vs SS's otherwise pretty standard. 3 way with NFD + GS =

Hand 6 - Just bet fold flop imo. vs this guy you're likely facing a 2 street bluff catch with 1 pair. As played fold river.

Hand 7 - Were you tilting at this point? Seriously though. I normally always flat this but when I'm tilted I always find myself 3b weak AA oop. Here there are already 3 people in the pot and we're likely seeing a flop multi way, OOP with a bare overpair a lot of the time.

Hope this helps. Just how I play and is by no means correct

Hand 3- I know he will check back any non-nut flush or set, but I think he may call a set, will def call worse flushes. I could c/f here, but I think he still calls worse flushes..

Hand 6- I don't like b/f'ing flop. I think a lot of his range hits this board and he's going to c/r me off equity. I think folding turn may be okay though. AP river is fold :\

hand 7- Yup, I was tilting at this point. Pretty sure I lost $600 in one day when this hand was played. I leaned towards 3betting because the opener was a SS (And I was steaming..) Calling is probably best..

Appreciate the feedback I often review hands with my roommates.. heres a fun one from last night;

He's pretty tight from the SB so his range doesn't have many sets or 2 pairs. It's weighted more towards pair+FDs. In short, we aren't doing very well against pairs+FDs. we have the Q and 9 in our hand, which blocks medium run downs. Were basically hoping he has medium rundowns if we get it in here. Were ahead of a Q/J/Thi rundown with diamonds or JJdd with diamonds. Were away behind vs KKdd or AAdd. ~38% vs TT, ~50% vs T+NFD/2nfd. We need ~45% to jam/get it in. We probably don't have that against his range.. It's gotta be close on PPT.. (too lazy)

Another option here is calling and playing the turn IP. We can jam any 2, 9, Q comfortably, fold T/A/K and diamonds if he donks into us, and probably jam any other card.

Went bungee jumping today, was awesome fun. Got scared ****less right after I looked over the edge of the bridge.

As far as poker goes.. 1 long session with a 20 minute break today.

Played alright. B+ - A- game.

I reviewed my session and looked over every pot that was over $30. I found that I misplayed 5-6 spots for $2-$5+ mistakes, and 2-3 for $5-10. I'd probably give myself an "A" if I had no $5-10 mistakes. fwiw, these are the mistakes that I'm aware of when I do a session review. It certainly does not account for all the mistakes I made.

In regards to that.. I'd estimate that my conscious competence is picking up 25-50% of my mistakes. I know I make mistakes getting it in light and calling light on the river. The spots where I suspect unconscious incompetence are made of mostly 2 types of spots. 1 - folding instead of floating/raising, and 2- raising instead of flatting.

Defo going to focus on trying to improve the areas where I know I have leaks (calling flops light/bad river calls). Hope to start slowly finding floating opportunities and spots to flat instead of raise. (Basically, how make the call button more +EV pre/OTF)

Because I'm bored, stoned, and enjoy writing (tl;dr) I'm going to do some rough calcs to estimate how much I can improve my win-rate at PLO50. I will estimate my win-rate later.

First off, I think the main area of improvement for me is playing my A-game more often. I play my A-game only ~40% of the time, my B game ~50% of the time, and my C game ~10%. Basically, I average a B+. Too much drugs/alcohol.

I think that playing my B+ game I'd make ~$30-50 in mistakes most the time when I play 2000 hands.

If I can average a A- game, I think it would be closer to $20-30 in mistakes. I think that even If I'm playing A+, I'd still make ~$10 in mistakes.

Anyways, if I can plan better sessions I can improve my win-rate by $10-20/20 or $.5-$1.00/100 hands, or 1-2bb/100. If I improve my conscious competence from 25-50% to 75% of mistakes I'm making, I could double/triple that winrate which brings me to a grand total of 3-6bb/100 more I can improve my winrate.

Not sure what my actual PLO50 long term winrate is. Allin ev is at $2.5k over 77k hands, giving 6bb/100-- but thats hardly a good estimate. The win-rate confidence calc is down on evplusplus.. but let's say I've improved a bit since the sample was taken, and that its ~50% confidence that its in the 4-10bb/100 range.

Given my crackpot calculations, I could increase my winrate by 50-200%.. meaning I still have tonnnnns of room for improvement.

I've been playing horrrrrible the last few days. I've lost focus in general.

Despite playing bad I ran well and ended up a few buyins today.

Summary.. I made 2 good plays, 3 terrible river calls, and a horrible turn b/f in a 3bet pot. Also missed a few cbet spots.. Burned ~$50 making horrible decisions, again.

Also, fwiw, I'm getting the worst situational run-bad ever in 3bet and 4bet pots...

This is with a 7% 3bet and 9% 4bet.. It feels like every flop I run into a set..

Situational and EV run bad aside.. I Need to get head back in the game. I've had bad sleep and a boring week. Being tired and bored has been impairing my focus. I catch myself on autopilot mode auto checking or betting in spots without thinking about ranges... Ugh. Or worse, calling in polarized spots where villain is 99% polarized to the nuts, 1% to a bluff. I'm going to finish off the month playing 4-5 tables. Additionally, I think its best if I take tomorrow off. I've already exceeded my monthly volume goal.

Yeah. This guy was a ridiculous whale.

I've slowed down on the volume the last couple days. Instead, I've been studying. Looking at the tendencies of regs and trying to figure out how to exploit. I've also watched the "crossfire" video series from magicninja.

I'm $420 away from a PLO100 shot.

I'm planning a Calgary trip for early April. Going to check out the live PLO scene, couchsurf, and hopefully ski Banff..
