The table labeled me as clueless for not 3betting the river with the nuts. !
I'm not a particularly experienced live player, but in the last handful of times I've played live, I heard that the place I was playing in had some kind of rules that punished calling on the river with the nuts with money left to bet. Might have been a tourney rule, of course.

Possibly something to keep in mind - one thing to miss value (although there wouldn't be value in this spot), another to get angled by the table lawyer.

First day.. Tried HUPLO.. Felt like such a noob. Somehow managed to rungut and win the monies.

Also 175hands/hr is going to make getting to 5k HUPLO hands very difficult.. xmas grind imo

Thx buddy! Yeah, things are going quite well out here.

I'd be up for a northwest poker trip if your up for it! Seattle/Portland looks juicy.. lots of PLO. Pretty much any time after xmas.

Won $25 playing darts last night, $40 in stud flips, $53 in PLO hyper turbos. Pre-drinking with roomies generally turns into gambooling until ~midnight and getting to the bars just before last call. I'm fine with that though. The nightlife scene here is sub-par for guys. Roughly 3:1 guy:girl ratio.. I suppose skiing/boarding attracts way more guys.

Played a HUPLO session this morning, 1 good reg, 3 fish. Won all matches

I'm looking for PLO HU partners. Intent is to improve HU game. I want to play HU play money on stars with a side bet. Would like to review hands after session to figure out leaks etc. PM me if interested!

Msg'ed!

Got pretty first session at HU today. Not thinking well about ranges and making stupid hero calls.

Few hands:

Hand1:

Villain is aggro pre, average agg post. Hasn't raised without the goods yet, hasn't bet bad bluff cards on the river yet..

OnGame - $0.50 PL Hi (2 max) - Omaha - 2 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 3

Hero (BB): $54.45
SB: $173.90

SB posts SB $0.50, Hero posts BB $0.50

Pre Flop: ($1.00) Hero has 8 8 K 9

SB raises to $1.50, Hero calls $1.00

Flop: ($3.00, 2 players) K 7 9
Hero checks, SB checks

Turn: ($3.00, 2 players) 2
Hero bets $2.00, SB calls $2.00

River: ($7.00, 2 players) 3
Hero bets $5.00, SB raises to $22.00, Hero calls $17.00

Spoiler:
SB shows 3 3 6 T (Three of a Kind, Threes)
SB wins $50.00

I think this should be a jam at $60+ and a hero fold in this spot. Bet sizing gives his hand away as value, and the only hand that makes sense is 33**.

Hand 2:

OnGame - $0.50 PL Hi (2 max) - Omaha - 2 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 3

Hero (SB): $62.10
BB: $36.50

Hero posts SB $0.50, BB posts BB $0.50

Pre Flop: ($1.00) Hero has T K Q K

Hero raises to $1.50, BB raises to $4.50, Hero raises to $13.50, BB calls $9.00

Flop: ($27.00, 2 players) A 9 9
BB checks, Hero bets $6.00, BB raises to $23.00 and is all-in, fold

Spoiler:
BB wins $38.00

I should check back flop, b/f half pot on turn. Betting this flop accomplishes nothing. Pretty unhappy about this one.

Hand 3:

This hand is really bad. Turn is the easiest bet in the world. So much value from worse flushes and straights.

OnGame - $0.50 PL Hi (2 max) - Omaha - 2 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 3

Hero (BB): $66.25
SB: $101.45

SB posts SB $0.50, Hero posts BB $0.50

Pre Flop: ($1.00) Hero has J Q K 7

SB raises to $1.50, Hero raises to $4.50, SB calls $3.00

Flop: ($9.00, 2 players) 4 A 2
Hero bets $5.00, SB calls $5.00

Turn: ($19.00, 2 players) 3
Hero checks, SB checks

River: ($19.00, 2 players) A
Hero checks, SB checks

Spoiler:
Hero shows J Q K 7 (Flush, Queen High)
Hero wins $18.05

He had a low flush. Sigh.

Pretty bad session overall. Lost 3BIs. Have flawed thinking of *Bet small with bull**** line to induce bluff raise*. But this aggro player didn't raise often, just bet.

Will try and play more tonight.

Battled a reg all day today. He ended up getting the best of me over 500 hands. Ran pretty bad when the money got in.

Played 1 hand that was interesting..

OnGame - $0.50 PL Hi (2 max) - Omaha - 2 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 3

Hero (BB): $90.90
SB: $110.95

SB posts SB $0.50, Hero posts BB $0.50

Pre Flop: ($1.00) Hero has Q 3 K 8

SB raises to $1.50, Hero calls $1.00

Flop: ($3.00, 2 players) A 5 T
Hero checks, SB bets $2.50, Hero raises to $8.50, SB calls $6.00

Turn: ($20.00, 2 players) 7
Hero bets $12.00, SB calls $12.00

River: ($44.00, 2 players) J
Hero bets $25.00, SB raises to $88.95 and is all-in, Hero calls $43.90 and is all-in

Spoiler:
Hero shows Q 3 K 8 (Flush, Jack High) (Pre 49%, Flop 22%, Turn 25%)
SB shows 5 T 6 A (Two Pair, Aces and Tens) (Pre 51%, Flop 78%, Turn 75%)
Hero wins $180.80

Flop is terrible, turn is pretty bad. Yeah, butchered the hand in general.

When I got to the river, I thought his hand was lots of AT, some 55, some AKJQ. Thought he would call a small bet.

When he raised, I was confused. I thought he would jam 2pair+NFD on the turn.. I thought no way he would turn a straight into a bluff, so it made sense that some AT with the bare Ah was in his range. Also, I pretty much rep nothing which may induce a spaz jam. Anyways, need to be right 24% here. Ended up being right this time,.. looking back I think its a fold. fwiw I totally butchered this hand.

Rake is pretty absurd at PLO50 HU. I've paid $327.50 over 2.5k hands, or 13.1bb/100. Getting around 30-35% effective rakeback between ftp/stars/ongame.

Today thus far;

You'll notice I've removed all-in EV. I'm going to stop posting all-in EV for small sample sizes. It's unreliable and makes me too results oriented.

Alright, so last night was my first live session in awhile, and the first time I've played hold'em in weeks.

I was sitting a juicy $2/5 waiting for the PLO game. I play one orbit, then this hand;

folds to fish in MP who limps, bad nit overlimps HJ, whale limps in CO, hero raises to $40 with QsTh, bb calls, all limpers call (wtf? lol)

Flop ($200)

Td Tc 6d

checks to whale who bets $150, hero tanks...

Hero concludes whale is never folding, raises to $350, whale declares "All-in" and flips over his cards to expose T8o. I am a bit confused and declare "Call?".

Turn : 3

River: 8.

Whale explodes in excitement, counts his stack, $800. Rough start..

Shortly after, I get called for the PLO game.

Play 2 orbits, only see one flop, playing nitty.

Hand 2: Straddle, steaming fish that just rebought for $300 limps blind UTG, UTG+1 limps, hero has AsQsQd4d and raises to $40, 5 callers, fish repots for $300, fold, hero re-pots for $900. All fold. Board runs out low, QQ holds.

I liked this hand. Basically shoved as a semi-bluff to fold out KK and get HU with the steaming fish. Was pretty sure I was ahead of the fish, and was getting 2:1 on my money assuming my shove is never called by KK.

Nice little triple up..

Hand 3: Folds to me in CO and I raise AhTh9h6s

fish calls in sb, whale calls in bb, straddle folds.

Flop($60)

9d 8d 8

check, whale leads for $20, hero calls, fold.

Turn ($100)

Tr

check, hero tank checks planning to possibly bluff river..

River ($100)

Kr

check, hero bets $60 trying to fold out TT-QQ, Kx. Villain tank calls with AK27r...

Hand 4:

This was the only other interesting hand of the session, not sure if I like how I played it.

Straddle on, 3 limps, hero limps CO with AdTdTc2c, btn limps, blinds complete..

Flop($70)

Qd 7d 4h

checks to hero who bets $70, btn ($810) tank calls, rest fold.

Turn ($210)

8h

Hero bets $200, villain repots to $810, hero folds :|

Not sure what the best play here was. Villain would ship a set on the flop, I thought maybe pair+weak FD or 2pairs.. Thought 2 pairs would give it up on this turn, also most pair+FD combos, too.

Villain showed Q782hh, which makes sense. Bleh.

Edit: Hand 5:

Forgot this one, favorite hand of the night.

straddle, 2 limpers in MP Hero has As5s6d7d in CO and raises to $25, call, btn makes it $85, whale calls in BB, hero calls.

Flop ($285)

2c 5c 3d

whale checks, hero checks, btn($700) bets $200, whale folds, hero jams, btn tank folds.

!

Another lollive hand;

fishy reg sits down, doesnt look at cards.

flop ( 885r ) check through, he donks a 3 turn for pot, table folds except for one player who is hiding his cards. fishy declares that he hasn't looked at his cards and starts berating the table for being nits. Dealer informs the fish that a player still has cards, and the player who has $300 behind tank folds to the $70 bet and shows a 8.

Table goes insane, fish opens his hand to expose AK22...

Anyways, ended up down $950 over 5 hours, which sucks. Hostel room also sucks-- In a 4-bed mixed dorm with 3 europeans guys.

As I write this I'm hitting on an Asian girl at starbucks. She is learning english by writing out a series of verbs. She clearly does not understand anything I'm saying, just laughs and nods. Will probably start talking dirty.

lollive pokerz.. Played a 10 hour session today +$2945, Rawwwwr. The game was ridiculously soft. The only other "good" player at the table was bad... Players sitting on $2k-3k with huge massive leaks.

Played well, save on stupid, stupid hand. Was too conscious of my perceived range, and overestimating a players bluffing frequency. Basically I had 6543 with 2 BD FDs and I called down on a 654Q board bluffcatching vs a player who is capable of bluffing in that spot, but isn't doing it that often. I raised pre, and I know he put me on big cards. It was 4 ways, one player folded out of turn. At the end of the day, needed ~36% equity on turn to call his all-in, and had 13% vs the nuts... so he needs to be bluffing ~70-75% of the time, and his double barrel bluff frequency is much, muchhhhh lower than 70-75% (maybe 10%?). Basically pissed away $300.

Played another hand where I flatted AAK4ds on the btn.. pretty sure its a 3b. Action went like this; aggro SNE player raises to $15 in MP, 4 callers (stacks $400-3k), action is on me on the btn ($4.2k). If I 3bet, it goes ~5 ways to the flop, with $600 in the middle. I didn't really want to 3bet because I'm so deep with several players who assign me a 3betting range of exactly AA, so I don't really like 3betting AA at all. I ended up completely whiffing the flop, but I'm pretty sure its best to pop it, and go 4-5 ways to the flop..

Anyways, not focusing on the negatives, I made a couple nice double barrel bluffs and single barrel bluff stabs. Also used the AA 3bet image to win a couple medium sized pots on dry flops with medium rundowns. Had no thin value bet situations.

The big hand I played, and one of the bigger pots of my life went like this;

Straddle on, 1 limper, fish raises to $30 in MP, hero ($1400) raises to $90 with AQJTsshh, decent player (covers) overcalls in SB, fish calls.

flop ($290)

Js Th 6c

Check, check, hero bets $250, decent player calls quickly.

At this point his quick call makes me think he either has KKQ*(most likely) JT98 or maybe 66** looking for a safe turn.

Turn ($790)

4c

check, hero bets $790, villains tanks for 3-4 minutes and jams all-in, hero calls the extra few hundred, asks if villain has 66, he claims no...

River ($3k+)

T

Hero shows TJAQ for a full hizzle, villains mucks, !

Just booked a massage for tomorrow. Back aches from skiing/poker. $45 in vancouver, <$10 in the philippines. Rape.

Found a thread on PG&C which was inspired by me, hehe sweet.

Gonna try and put in another 10hour session tomorrow. Session will end in either losing $2000, 10 hours, or extreme exhaustion. Whichever comes first.

Looking forward in December... It's gonna be challenging to grind 1.5k HU hands and 25k 6max hands in 20 days.

i think you should 3b the AAK4ds hand solely because of the implied odds of flush over flushing someone when going 4-5 to the flop ... and you don't even have to pot it (also, how can they put u strictly on AAxx when u 3b the btn ? u nit ? :P )

Yeah, I am a nit. They would put me exactly on AA when I 3b the btn. But, I should 3b, less than pot, I agree.

Okay, done HU for the month. Switching to PLO100 6max for the rest of the month. HU is fun, and I feel completely lost. Defo tons of room for improvement-- certainly much lower on the learning curve relative to 6max.

Here are HU results;

Overall winning 33bb/100 over a small sample size.

Played my first session of PLO100 today. 4-tables, sweat by friend. Played well in general. I noticed myself playing more aggressive preflop in 3bet opps, and not opening my CO enough, played 32/20/9. Post-flop, not many bluff raises, played fairly straight forward. Gonna take a couple sessions to get back into the 6max groove before working on game. Ended up winning $59 in the 6max session.

Alright, looks like 24.5k hands in 19 days to reach volume goal.
