I've had a very tough 2013, lost $5k from January to February, No stakers in Ethiopia so spent the rest of the year grinding freerolls then busto, rinse & repeat!
I exclusively play on ACR & was flattered to find out some players on here think it's the hardest US Poker site
I mainly play MTTs
Currently 1/5 on the FT of the PLO8 freeroll as I'm writing this!... & I just won it before I got done posting


My short term goal is to make $4K by February 2024

What is life like in Ethiopia?

To make $4k in three months, around $1300 a month how does that compare with the average salary and cost of living in Ethiopia?

you should play blackjack bro. easy quick way to make money. take your $7 win at blackjack 4 hands and your roll will be $112 done in less than 1 min. then your rolled for $0.50 and $1.10 mtts. easy game. if you have the big balls play two more hands and your roll will be nearly $450. sort of rolled for $5.50 mtts and below then. if you get a blackjack even higher roll.

Ethiopia is pretty easy going with great weather, beautiful women, improving life standards but still with it's fair share of poverty! I'm pretty much talking about the capital cause the country is huge & very varied.
$4k is more than the annual salary of a good job so it's a hefty amount for the average Ethiopian! Cost of living is getting high every year, inflation is high but it's still very affordable! I could live comfortably for a year with that! I live with my mom so I don't have any living expenses but not for long, as the plan is to move out & pursue poker professionally! Ty for the insightful questions!

I borrowed $300 from cousin then run it down to $40 bought in a $16.5 & made the FT to put it back up to $250 minus some cash game losses

You can be the smartest player in the world, without proper brm you going to go broke sooner rather than later.

I'd rather be playing $2 - $3 mtts comfortably, and multitabling,than going broke and having to grovel with freerolls.

BTW, I am sure you could also play on coinpoker.

I was down to $6 today from $30. Made a deep run in a $6.6 & subsequently tripled my stack in .5/.1 & .1/.25. in Plo8
I've became very religious since the last time I posted, very active in the church. I hope it translates into discipline. That doesn't mean that I ain't having issues with the trinity though :/
I quit Alcohol last year, & since I've quit Weed, Porn, Cigarettes. Used to jack off every night, 2+ times (Now I just rub one off rarely, once or twice a month if that, using my imagination or a pic of a potential wife) Hallelujah I only listen to New age, EDM & ofc Gospel songs.
I'm also undergoing food torture by family lol but good samaritan on Facebook, old platonic girlfriend sent me $100. My uncle is sending me some more. TMI but figured I'd give you some context. Not begging lol I have had a horrible BRM issue going back a decade but I've always thought to myself that I'll ONLY CHANGE if I have to, & feeding myself is where it's at lol; I've turned the tables on my family though, had the cops called on me twice, video is on my tiktok @azfyalife where there's English content but mostly Amharic. Now I sing Gospel songs referring to them as Satan, reminding them to lock the kitchen etc I've lost 11kg as a result but it's all for the best, I got to see their true colors. I also disowned myself from my inheritance from both sides. (An Ethiopian first & A World First, with no income, no assets. Ofc there's no legal framework in place for this groundbreaking decision but I'll print it in the newspapers the moment I can afford to)
ANYWAYS back to Poker Goals, I OBV. didn't reach my ridiculously ambitious goal of hitting 4k by now but I've stayed true to my OP (unintentionally) of starting from Zero & I have no doubt that I'll reach $100K at least a year from when I write this. I'm one of the best players but I just suck terribly at BRM, or sucked rather. My issue is taking a shot, BINKING, Binking again & then incessantly keep taking shots; taking shots is truly an art.
First, I need to make $1500+ to withdraw $300 (enough for 3 months food)
Secondly, I need to make a year's rent of $2k + $1k for food, yearly with $2k BR left to play $6.6 MTTS on ACR so $5k total. Writing this makes me remember another thought I had, that if you wish to reach a certain figure, it's hard as it is, add people intentionally persecuting me, trying to irritate & starve me to death lol but IF YOU HAVE TO COME UP with a certain amount? The likelihood of achieving this goal increases, so there. I just need to set a fixed sleeping schedule & weekly planner. The devil hates a programmed life.
It's said that a deadline helps you reach your goals but it also adds unnecessary pressure so I won't do that until I stand on my own two feet. Upon moving out, we can start talking deadlines.
Sorry for the long read but I feel it's a necessary update. We're not robots after all! I wish more poker players showed their vulnerable side so we can all learn from it. I have yet to read a SINGLE introspective Bio of one, point me towards if there are any. Poker Pros are 1 dimensional, sadly. I hope to change that.
