So I've been playing in fallsview the last few days. I can't get any PLO hands in because the NLH action is too good here. Biggest BBJ of history, weekend, bills game... so guuud. Had a +$1894 6 hour session last night. Going to seneca today.

Sadly failed on PLO volume/profit goals this month. Pre-rake back I lost ~2BIs (on 2 databases, no access to other).. ran a bit below EV. On the bright side, I got in tons of live NLH (80 hours) and banked a few grand in profit.

Poker goals for October;

They have a $5/10 $3k buy-in PLO game in Seneca on Tuesdays. I was going to go 50/50 with my buddy, but we ended up driving home last night.. Meh.

Going to spend 1-2 hours going over some PLO videos and strat then hit the tables.

The only bluff-raises I attempted were these 3, all 3 failed. I rarely do this, and when I try, I get raped. It angers me because this is how I would play the nuts in every hand... not sure if this is spewing or just running into the nuts every time.

Hand 4:

nuts on flop, get it in as a dog.

This hand was my personal fav. Villain here is 25/7 and limps utg, I suspect a pretty narrow range here of QQ/KK**..

Played 2 sessions. Gonna to do some review for an hour, then try and squeeze in a third session before ongame traffic dies.

Graph is weird. Was doing more bluff raising and barreling in general (notice the redline). non-showdown winnings were $0.. which is strange for PLO10. I started spewing at the end when I loose passive fish kept calling me super light and sucking out or catching my bluff.

Some interesting hands;

Hand1:

Villain is 16/7, low agg freq. When he min-raises I put his range mostly KK**, weak aces, or premium rundowns. When he min 4bets, I'm certain he has KK** or AA**..

I liked how I played this. The other option of 5betting gets him to fold his KK** most of the time. Plus, I can fold if a king flops.

Hand 2:

I like the turn donk, with the intention of barreling many rivers. However, this river was terrible. I really dislike my river shove... I think against loose player like this a b/f of $1.50-$2.00 is optimal trying to get a crying call from AA**/KK**.

Going to put the "big picture" into perspective.

Right now I'm ~+1BI at PLO10 since I moved up on September 1st. I am +$55 on my other database, and -$47.65 on this database. I am a mental game fish, TAG-fish in general. I have a long way to go in developing my game. This is exciting for me.

As far as immediate goals are concerned.. I need to grind out 40BIs to move up to PLO25. I'm going to start mixing in PLO15 after I beat PLO10 for ~20BIs. I'm hoping that from here on out I can beat PLO10/15 for 8-10BB/100. At that pace, ~10-12k hands at PLO10 and 7-9k hands at PLO15. With some good play and run average... I could be at PLO25 next month!

Yeah, I hope so. Actually, my bluff frequency isn't changing too much, I'm just triple barreling wayyy less frequently. Generally I'm bluffing IP, and 1 or 2 barrels.

Off to a terrible start today, down 5BIs. I had a brain fart and got in 70bb with the second nut straight on the flop when I thought I had the nut straight. Lost a big pot when I got bottom set in on a A89ss flop facing a raise from a nittish player in a 4-way limped pot. This is obviously an easy fold.

I've filtered all hands where I flopped bottom or middle set and I'm facing a raise or 3b on the flop. Turns out I'm losing 3000bb/100 over 32 hands, running a bit below all-in EV. Clearly I need to be able to fold bottom/middle set to a raise more often..

Also, filtered lifetime hands at PLO10 (25k) and I'm running 30BIs below all-in EV-- saving my run-good for PLO25+.

I'm re-reading The Mental Game of poker tonight, then movie with sis. May fire up a PLO10 session later tonight if tables are running.

Not sure about this, what kind of range do you give to BTN? I guess it comes to how often does he have KK, if he has it tonnes its obviously bad, but given his AF being high it cant be bad.

What about the turn barrel here? Villain is 60/7, only 40% fold to flop cbet, 1/3 fold to turn cbet.

I thought I could get JJ-KK to fold OTT. Barrel river against this fish AP?

Pre I dontt like, we are going to end up OOP pretty much all the time given BTN stats, and we are going to be dominated way to often and barreling like this becomes spew quickly? Not a fan of it on this turn, Im not sure if he would fold his pairs in the whole, and when called we have like no equity
My thoughts in bold

Thx for reponses Jub.

I think A66Qas is okay to overlimp with a btn that isn't a maniac.

Hand 5 I'm not sure about.. perhaps someone that play 80%+ of btns I shouldn't raise a hand like 7643ss... double barrel is def marginal, maybe -EV.

Today and tomorrow I'm going to be putting in 1 couple live NLH sessions. 'bout to refresh myself on hold'em and head to the casino. Hopefully I can continue running good this month

Thread got red.

Played a 2 hour NLH session last night, game was slow, flopped a set and won $467. Won a few pots with cbets, lost a big pot where straddle, 3 limpers, I raise btn, I checked back QQ on KT8dd 3ways, called 5s turn donk, folded to Ts river shove and villain had ATdd.. Not going tonight-- 2 big action players from Ottawa are in montreal :\

More PLO today/tmrw. Down $-34.50 (4BB/100) on the month, break-even all-in EV, decent red-line (-7BB/100).

Played a short session and spewed $12, redeemed with a long session where I made 2 big mistakes and still won $8.00. I made a stupid semi bluff on the turn with top 2 + FD when only a straight or set would call my raise. Also burned money calling $.20 pre with KQTd8d and getting it in with K+fd vs. K+high fd..

Will be reading some more mental game of poker. Need to start "injecting logic" when considering bluff/semi-bluff raising. It sucks that my major leak is being spewwy aggro as making bad raises is much worse than bad calls or folds :\

Right. Played another session, got crushed.

I'm having a lot of trouble learning this game. I feel completely lost and I have no idea if all my playing/studying is actually improving my game, or doing anything at all. I essentially get no feedback. The feedback I have gotten so far has told me I'm somewhere between okay and ****ty. The last 25k hands I've lost 27BIs. What's troubling is that my all-in EV line is only +3BI, meaning if I ran at all-in EV I'd be beating PLO10 for <1BB/100. So yeah, been running like ****, but I still suck if I run average?!

Sigh. Shall continue plugging away, trying to improve.

On the positive side, looking in decent shape for a couple goals in October;

Poker goals for October;
21k hands PLO10/15 (5.2k already)
Profit (-5BI so far)

flop cbet --> turn cbet gap <15% (21% right now, although, re-adjust this goal to 15% as I found a good player has a 16% gap in a decent sample size)
SB/BB vpip <20% (yup, combined 19% right now)
btn vpip >40% ( 39% now )
W$WSF >42 ( 37.8, failing big time here)

Don't worry about all-in EV, there are lots of ways to run bad and after the money is all-in is only one.

i think that allin-EV at the plo micros is irrelevant. unless you are very aggro and go allin a lot.

people at these limits tend to slowplay most of the time (at least at 25) and only a few are willing to get in big draws, top2 or stuff like that. so you can't know for sure how you're running since most of your winning/loses come from showdown.

anyway, gl with this.

Yeah, I suppose. Still stuck with the lack of feedback problem, though.

I am very aggro, and go in way too often (I think). Def getting lots of slow-players. checking back fullhouse on a wet board OTT is so standard at PLO10.

Played a couple decent sessions today.

One marginal limp/3b with AA52r (the 100bb loss in the middle), one bad bluff catch with AA**. (100bb loss 3/4 through)

.
Only hand I think is iffy, preflop its a fold when it gets back to us imo?

When we flop a set, we are often going to be over setted. We have a nut dflush draw but with a SPR of 2 or so its not really viable to be proftiable???
