Hey everyone
After reading up on other peoples threads here it inspired me to start my one. Main purpose for this will be to track my progress, keep me accountable and find other players to talk strat with.
brief background:
I played poker professionally for a few years and did quite well. Took a few years off due to life things and started to play seriously once more post covid. The plan is to work as hard and effectively as possible while improving my game consistently. I'd also like to lead a healthy and productive life outside of poker but as for now I will be focusing most my energy on the grind and moving up stakes.
My main game right now is 100 PLO. I plan on now taking a 10 bi shot at 200 PLO and hopefully wont have to move back down.
My weekly plan sept 13-19 will be
- play min 5k hands
- study min 4 hours
- work out 5 days
- update thread atleast once
- spend 4 hours reading / audible

Discipline
Quite unsatisfied with the volume and the amount of work I put in this week. I find myself looking for distractions and wasting too much time on things that dont add value to my life. I fell short on every single one of my weekly goals. I need to learn to be more disciplined with my decision making. In something like poker we dont have a boss or anyone looking over our shoulders. No dead-lines to meet or tasks to be completed. We set our own schedule and routine which can be a great thing...but also quite bad for the un-disciplined. When it comes to working-out or eating healthy, it comes so easy to me now like brushing my teeth. Its just something I do. I dont have the answers but elevating my game and how I approach it is something I need to look further into. Creating better work-flow habits.

First week of 200 PLO in the books
Felt a little uncomfortable when I first started playing but got into a groove and ran quite well. On the small sample size I've played I realize the regs here are quite a bit better. Especially pre-plop. I made a couple big mistakes and I think it stems from how I approach certain spots when SPR is small. Overall I give myself a passing grade.

Quite unsatisfied with the volume and the amount of work I put in this week. I find myself looking for distractions and wasting too much time on things that dont add value to my life. I fell short on every single one of my weekly goals. I need to learn to be more disciplined with my decision making. In something like poker we dont have a boss or anyone looking over our shoulders. No dead-lines to meet or tasks to be completed. We set our own schedule and routine which can be a great thing...but also quite bad for the un-disciplined. When it comes to working-out or eating healthy, it comes so easy to me now like brushing my teeth. Its just something I do. I dont have the answers but elevating my game and how I approach it is something I need to look further into. Creating better work-flow habits.

Felt a little uncomfortable when I first started playing but got into a groove and ran quite well. On the small sample size I've played I realize the regs here are quite a bit better. Especially pre-plop. I made a couple big mistakes and I think it stems from how I approach certain spots when SPR is small. Overall I give myself a passing grade.

Finding myself losing focus /getting bored quite frequently and it kills my drive to grind hard. I am a firm believer that any habit can be taught. Hitting 8-10k hands a week should absolutely be doable. I am thinking of getting some coaching to not only sharpen my game but to have someone else to talk poker with on a deeper level and bounce ideas off of. I think this is a crucial part of my game that I am missing.
I had the jitters the first few sessions after moving up but now I am 100% confident at the stakes I am playing now. Swings seem bigger but I am training myself to not see it has $ but as units. TBH its alot more fun playing bigger stakes

Playwise I would rate myself a C+. When looking at my hands post session I see too many punts. I get a mix bag of emotions when I rate my play. I see mistakes that are avoidable but I also get excited because I realize I still have so much room to grow and learn.

Finding myself losing focus /getting bored quite frequently and it kills my drive to grind hard. I am a firm believer that any habit can be taught. Hitting 8-10k hands a week should absolutely be doable. I am thinking of getting some coaching to not only sharpen my game but to have someone else to talk poker with on a deeper level and bounce ideas off of. I think this is a crucial part of my game that I am missing.
I had the jitters the first few sessions after moving up but now I am 100% confident at the stakes I am playing now. Swings seem bigger but I am training myself to not see it has $ but as units. TBH its alot more fun playing bigger stakes
. Playwise I would rate myself a C+. When looking at my hands post session I see too many punts. I get a mix bag of emotions when I rate my play. I see mistakes that are avoidable but I also get excited because I realize I still have so much room to grow and learn.
Volume will be lower this week since I am taking some days off for a trip.
