Sup,
I work at a webshop as an online marketer, but my contract will end in November. I've been successful in poker for the last ~1.5 years but never really had the time to follow a good poker schedule and put in solid hours month in month out. Therefore, I see the ending of my contract more as an opportunity to persue what I love most: poker.
I'm a 22 year old Dutchman with a passion for poker. I live a tiny village in South-Holland. I've studied communications and right now I work parttime as an online marketer. Together with my other sidejob, these jobs are roughly covering 30 hr's of my week which leaves me enough room to play poker for the coming months. My plan is to put in as much quality hours as possible in the coming 4 months, so I can evaluate if it's worth it to make a shot at going full time, rather than looking for another job. My monthly spendings are very low and I have a saved up money: I can live off my liferoll for about a year so I won't get in any trouble if poker doesn't work for me after all.

Background
What started as an innocent hobby with some friends, grew into an intense passion for me. Being obsessed with all the different strategies, terms and stories of settled pro's I quickly started to obtain as much knowledge as I could. I've been playing everything in the past couple of years; my main focus was 50nl fullring for a long time, lost interest in it so shifted to MTT's. Last year was a big succes for me MTT wise, with my first 5-figure score and month.
Poker, goals & challenges
I'm a decent MTT player, but in my current situation I'm not able to have frequent longer sessions. I've decided to test the waters at iPoker's cashgames. I will start with 20nl as my maingame but won't rule out any 50nl - 100nl tables if the field is good. Besides that I'll play some interesting MTT's every now and then across multiple sites.
I really don't know how this will go, I have hardly any experience with 6max cashgames, but with the right adjustments I think I can manage it.
I signed up on iPoker a while ago, having a deal at a RB company for 60%. Since iPoker is using SBR system for rake, it's hard for me to tell how much RB% I'll get at the end of the line, but I think it's going to end up around 30-35%. This is without the monthly rakeraces, which can add quite a lot of $$ as well. I'll workout my RB% every month so I can get a good view over time on how much RB I really get.
Balancing life
Right now I live a quite boring life imo. I have 2 jobs, next to that I cycle 10-20km everyday and for the rest of the time I play poker and sleep. On saturday I mostly go out drinking with some friends, but that's it.
I want to create a more interesting life for myself. This means doing things that I normally wouldn't do. Go for a night cycling, smoke a good sigar at a random place, play a live MTT, so basicly anything. I intend to do something out of the ordinary every 2 weeks.
Concrete goals
I'll probably make goals for every week/month, but my global goals are:
- 50k+ hands/month
- Do something out of the ordinary every 2 weeks
- Aim for 5bb/100 ev wise
- At least 375k hands at the end of the year
- Plan an epic, possibly poker/chill vacation in September
- Change gears back in time when cashgames don't work out (go back to MTT's)
That's it for now. Follow thread for hand analysis, tripreports, goalreports, random photo's. Pokersetup and more about me will follow soon.
Peace!
