Re: Covid-19 costed me everything (big debt) NL2+

April Recap.

In regards to life things went okay, I missed a few days on duolingo, but im back on the grind again, and will keep going.

Debt Payoff: Sadly we had no work at all this last week, so we remain at $6.9k/8k - Im not gonna be sad about this, 6.9k is quite alright, and like i said in the beginning i can't really control this, I basicly just work whenever im called and asked to work.

Training wise, i've gotten one new online client, but that's it, we still arn't allowed to have physical clients, in the way that i would need for my abilitys to show. Since im a SBD technique nerd (SBD = Squat, Benchpress & Deadlift), but right now we are being promised to get back to the gym and clients by the end of may, so hopefully thats true, and i can up the debt payoff numbers starting june.

My own training is going quite well, i had a minor groin pull again (3rd one this year), im simply not giving it enough rest, and taking a few gambles a bit too early, but im alright with it, i know how to adjust my lifts so there is less adductor work, and it allows me to keep growing. My current program call's for a mini peak and perhaps some PR's around Late June, but im considering scrapping them, I've never seen a reason to do sub max tests / max our randomly, when i have no competitions until August.

Poker!

Partypoker i played ~21k hands, with a win of roughly 42$ but the roll is withdrawn, so i can buy GTO+ (still havn't gotten to it, but i've started doing the ground work, i think right now ranges in regards to population studying, is more important than studying GTO ranges.) So atleast for the next few weeks, GTO+ wont be a priority.

WPN i found 12$ there, turned it into 17 bucks over 3.333 hands (can only play reg tables, and it's really not worth it, so im mainly doing that whenever im tired / exhausted, but still want to grind a bit, knowing that even in that state im profitable.).

Pokerstars - I would like to say things are going great, but its a very up and down road, im not complaining about the results (7.6bb/100) it's alright, but im still running a bit bad, and spewing way too many Bi's going with what's supposed to be good river bluff's, and just watching people get sticky with hands that really does never beat my value range. The life at NL2 is different, and i need to still adapt to not bluffing since people are hella sticky, if they call turn bet, they for sure call river jam's unless hell freezes over.

Pokerstars roll is at 65$ - Mainly because i lost that 1 Bi on NL10 clearing a ''bonus'' (got 4$ back in bonus), so wasn't really worth it, but was a quite std setup, and i don't really mind it, im actually considering doing shots on NL10 when i have 75$ instead of NL5 (2.5 Bi shots and only 2 table) since NL5 is the worst rake trap of around 16-18bb/100, while NL10 is ''only'' around 11-12bb/100 after what i get from googling around a bit. Im aware that this variance orientated, since if it goes bad, well i only have 2.5 Bi to lose, but since im 100% that im beating the stake, i think considering the rake, that it might be the better way to go.

Graph for WPN + Pokerstars:

The dives are the start of every session, since i seem to regress back to my former state, where i forget that i can't bluff, and lose 2-4 stacks doing too many cbet's when my range advantage is huge (they don't know that) and bluffing when i got the blockers for the stronger hands, and doesn't block the bluffs, so i still need to work on my game haha.

One thing is my volume is low, i only played around 40k hands this month.

So i failed my poker goal of 50k hands by 25%.

May goals coming tomorrow, right now i have a workout to get done, and need to do programming for a few of my athletes who is competing later this year, so we starting peaking soon!!! Im sooooooo Excited for this, one of them is a first timer, but holy **** is she promising, she is gonna be a record holder within her first year of powerlifting (she did bodybuilding before, so she were in a good condition from the start.

Re: Covid-19 costed me everything (big debt) NL2+

Oh damn, just realised i forgot to click post on my May goals. Doh

Life:
15 min stretch every morning, following this young lady: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_tea8ZNk5A

Beside that no real life goals, since workout is back on a plan so no need goals there, and since i've decided while i love doing duolingo, im gonna put it a bit on the back burner for poker for now. Really enjoying the study time in poker right now, so wan't to keep studying a **** ton.

Debt:
Work suck this month, we are in raining month's which mean less and less work, I was on job yesterday for a **** ton of hours, but going forward, im not gonna have much work this month, so goal will be low.

$3.1k for May. (combined 10k for the two months), which would remove most of my small debts, and make me able to move a bit more freely if i want to use $200-500 monthly to influx the poker roll or so going forward from June.

Poker!!!
I have received alot of kind messages, one suggesting i look at poker from a $/hour perspective, and suggested me doing SNG's, so i attempted them a bit, played like 250 of them on PP (didn't want to mix them), put in 20$ -> Went alright i have like 37 bucks, so nothing like crazy, but playing the 1s, like the thing is they are Craaazy soft, and playing SNG's for sure will be the easier road, but my end goal is NL100+ and MTT's, and i feel that SNG's translate very few skills for me, towards my end goal. That said im still not entirely quitting the idea of SNG's, gonna give them until atleast sunday (they are nice to grind when semi tired, since decisions are so automated when short, and it all become push / fold ranges, and a bit of ICM.)

Sticking with cash mainly tho, at the end of May i've sold a few items being picked up and paid for in 2-3 weeks, means i can influx the roll with 200-300$ already coming end of may. So focus this month will be on studying, since i should be rolled for NL10 by the end of may, so putting in a crazy volume on NL2 to climb doesn't translate as well.

Started with GTO+ and i ****ing love it, it's SOOOOO ****ing nice to be able to really study hard, crunch some spots, play against the solutions, also got into a study group with 4 other 2+2 players, the whole poker enviorment have me so pumped to study and dig deep.

Goals for poker in May:
Play 40k hands (i still need to get in some hands, instead of pure study time). Roll is at 67$ today, at 70$ i will add in a few NL5 tables i've decided. Im crushing NL2 for now (kinda expected), but took me way too long, adjusting to population, and start of every session is a dip, regressing to a strategy thats unsuited for a population that calls too light.

Study:
Plan is to really dig deep, in the Btn vs BB, first 1.5 weeks my focus is on Btn on every possible flop, and the last 1.5 weeks BB. Last week will be mixing the two, should make me able to when in doubt, regress to a close to GTO solution very often. (or a simplified version of GTO, where i remove the least favorable solutions, and when ev is within 0.01 stick to what my gut says).

next update coming sunday, best of luck for you all until sunday!.

Gl bro post some sngs hands if u got any spots that ur unsure about. Additionally I would just play the $5 sngs. Mix the $1 and $5 games and anything inbetween and see how it works out. I’m sure it’s ultra soft.

Glgl sngs are very soft esp the micros ofc. but you need to study icm spots a lot and the swings can be brutal, I've had 200+ bi downswings when I was a sng reg. But ofc I 30 tabled them and they were mostly reginfested.

Re: Covid-19 costed me everything (big debt) NL2+

I played 18 mans which have a little more variance I guess, I couldn't even tilt because I had no time to watch showdowns hehe, but also made lots of missclicks because I grinded for those supernova bonusses a bit too hard but whatever

At that time I wasn't that great at poker just pretty good at the shove/fold game and knew my ICM which was enough to make a decent living from by just putting in high volume. Played like 3500-4k sngs a month

Yeah and a lot of those games had like 15-16 regs of 18 people also so margins were pretty small

Re: Covid-19 costed me everything (big debt) NL2+

Slight update, since im anoyed haha, down with the flu (got tested for covid twice, both negative).

So it gotta just be the flu, but it mean's i couldn't work today, and most likely can't tomorrow. Praying im back on monday, since monday + tuesday is a few very good projects at work, and i need them heavily. Like normally i would work in this condition, since it's litteraly ''nothing'' but in these times, we proceed with caution.

It's nothing ''bad'' just a very sore and painful throat, but head is fine, so plan is to get in quite a bit of volume from now till sunday, and update the results sunday.

Re: Covid-19 costed me everything (big debt) NL2+

Time for an undate (might play a few thousand hands later tonight, not entirely sure).

1-9th May for poker:

a little over 10k hands in 9 days, is just not good enough for quite an off weak in regards to work. Im quite dissapointed in the volume, but i've gotten in a **** ton of study work, so i feel better about my game every day, and that's in a way more important since it will help me when i at the end of this month can deposit, and take shots at higher stakes / what the plan will be. Have some exciting decisions to make, i will post more about them later at the start of June.

Very limited profit haha, won a 280bb pot at the end today, but this entire day (last 2.5k hands) have been me getting 4b in 93% of the times i 3b xD Which is why the graph looks so weird at the end. SRP went alright, but holy **** never felt so attacked my entire life in 3b spots haha.

Did some weird things this week lol, i found a few items on sale for no money (people wanted to get rid of em), went and got it, just to resell for a bit more, so right now i've made 125$ (both sales though havn't been picked up, one will be tomorrow evening, and the other wednesday or thursdag).

So when they are gone if the buyers don't jump ship, i got money for NL10 atleast, which i will deposit and get on the grind, might even use it for 8 Bi shot at NL16 (not entirely sure, it's not like it will change much, since no matter what by start of june i will be NL10 & NL16 anyhow due to yea you will hear later.

Life:
Work was 2 days, but one was a decently long day, and the other was a **** show with rain 24/7, meaning 2 days of work for about 500$ of debt payoff.

Starting up one of my clients tomorrow (gyms are finally open), and will start to look for more clients, to get that ball rolling again, and hope to pick up some speed with the debt payoff.

If anyone is looking for an online coach (I mainly do strength programs, and nutrition guidance (no meal plans, they are a **** idea and you should never buy them).) With a focus on strength in the big 3 (Squat, Bench, Deadlift), toss me a DM and we can see if im the right fit for your needs. So if your goal is to become a strong man i can help you, a powerlifter im your guy, in general strong for the bro showoff again im your man. But if you want to become a good olympic lifter, a cross fit athlete, im not your man, and would never take clients i don't feel im a very good fit to help.

I've also done specific training for football and boxers, their strength needs, i can do conditioning training, but it's again an area where i usally recommend others.

My time is limited, so i don't want to waste my time working with clients i can't make an absolute ****ing superstar, and get to become precisely what they want.

Free tip of the day:
If you want to lose weight, try out the Carbon app from Layne Norton, it's a ****ing fantastic tool, but remember to do your strength training and progressive overload, so you don't just plummet all your strength down the drain while losing weight.

Re: Covid-19 costed me everything (big debt) NL2+

So another week of may is down, time for a little update.

Worked 3 days this week, for a total debt pay off: $1.2k

Which means the month is a total of: $1.8k debt payoff

Slowly starting clients up, but most are prepaid clients from before we shutdown, so right now im not earning on it, but just doing my job for what they already paid for. Im so happy that we are back, and i will try to do some events to get more clients in June, right now i feel my life is kinda full with the clients i do have, work, and poker.

Poker!
So i've decided SNG's ain't for me, i gave them a good try imo (played about 600 of them total) with a fine profit, but the style just doesn't excite me, so even if they are easier money, i was just bored when i played them, and never found any joy in it.

So it's all cash for me, and some MTT's once the roll can handle some Saturday / Sunday sessions.

PS BR: $110 - So i sold a few items as mentioned, meaning i have about 130 bucks i can deposit if i want, so i decided to use it for a 8 Bi shot at NL16, so faar up a little over 2 Bi's but very little sample. (no point depositing the 130 bucks unless i lose my current roll as i see it? Might be some mental thing in depositing it, and feeling the roll can actually manage a shottake).

My back injury flared up a bit during yesterdays deadlift session, so only slept like 3 hours tonight, and been in alot of pain, nothing new though, it happens every so often, can't walk or anything for a few days, and im back to normal by tuesday / wednesday. It's normally stress induced, and i feel quite mentally pressured atm.

This week just have sucked for volume, only played a little over 3k hands, and i can't even say it's due to studying.

The reason for the low volume, is im pondering a quite big opportuinity, im just not sure if it's a healthy one mentally for me.

Long story short: A mate of mine, offered to loan me (interest free, and no payback period, just when it fits) a $4-5k roll, not as a stake or anything, but just to get me back into the game where i can make money that actually matters.

A few issues, been a little while since i grinded NL100 last time, and only have like 80k hands, with a tiny winrate, so would probly use it for a safe roll for NL50, with some MTT shots on weekends.

So it's either that, or keep grinding it up though the micros (from june 1st i can deposit 200-500 buck monthly to shottake for). So would be able to shot take NL25 in 2 weeks, or loan and be able to sit comfortable at NL50, with some NL100 shots when it's soft.

I feel a hell of alot better doing it with my own funds, but i also feel dumb not taking the loan, since im still quite sure that i can beat NL50 and NL100.

Really feels like ****ing sofies choice, either i get to dick around at the micros for 2-3 months more, or get to move instantly to NL50 / NL100, but perhaps struggle a bit with my mentality if i lose too much.

So yea due to making that decision, i've had a hard time grinding NL2 / NL5 feeling i need to make a decision, and i don't want to shot take NL16 unless im actually feeling my game. Which i really ain't atm, due to taking monday - friday off, i feel like my flow is just lacking, that said gonna pick up the volume on NL16 in the next week, since with my roll + funds in the bank i have a roll of ~$240 ish, so even though it's tiny, i can afford to lose 8-10 Bi.

So next weeks plan!
Work is only Thursday, so not much there.
Poker plan:
Monday study 3-4 hours when i wake up, get into the groove with a few sessions on NL5. and in the evening if i feel good, go for NL16 again.

Tuesday Study 2-3 hours when i wake up, hopefully at this point im feeling my game, and will hammer away at NL16 until i either lose the 8-10 Bi (8 shottake i could afford, and the 2 Bi's im up now).

Wednesday + Friday + weekend same drill as above.

While i need to figure out if i take his offer, or keep hammering away on my own, how well this week goes kinda also decide that, if i can make it to a solid NL16 roll, and moving towards NL25, im not gonna need the loan, since the money i can deposit, can just be used for a 4-10 Bi shot at NL50 monthly, while i still grind my way up.

Hope you all had an amazing poker week! If anyone is looking to study poker im always down

He can pay off like $7k usd debt in a month and plays poker to improve and probably also because he likes it, in 1-2 years he'll be at midstakes+ and crushing at life again

Also playing micro stakes isn't wasting time, it's way better to play there, keep improving and move up slowly instead of losing a ton starting at like 50nl or 100nl as a newbie, people who do that probably lose 10-20 buyins with zero chance of winning and quit for good

I totaly agree with Thommehh. How improving while not risking much could be a bad thing? Okay its a slow process but poker is a marathon not a sprint.

gl mens. Looks like its going in a good direction already.

Im curious, what kind of construction work is this? $2500 for 4 days work? $400 for 1 day work? Is this normal pay for average construction workers where you from?

Are they using your powerlifter skills to lift heavy things instead of them hiring a crane xdd?

Totally agree! no one should start high, unless you can take severe beatings without it effects your life, I have met a few persons that didn't give a f... and that's cool, but for the rest of us, be CAREFULL!! gambling has ruined to many people. Play and be happy

The thing is, im already working 2 jobs, and for the construction work to be possible, I need to be open to jump in quickly, and it pays a ****load more than what i can make at most jobs.

Im not ''just starting out'' have been playing for ages, just always used it as a hobby, so while i agree that i probly shouldn't have started at NL2, but just invested enough for NL25. I just felt like actually doing something i love, rather than grinding a 3rd job.

Thanks.

Thanks, yea it's clicking atm.

Im making between $580-660 daily, after tax thats like 350-400 left, the salary are quite normal, it's roughly $73 hourly on average, but in a way we are taking advantage of my skills, since we get paid for each squaremeter we complete, so the faster we can move, the more we get paid.

I think it's in the high end for what people on a flat hourly earn, but i've been as high as $100 / hourly for some of the good projects, and i know many who earn up towards that hourly.

UPDATE INFO:
Update is delayed, spend alot of time this week, and weekend with the lady, so not much to update, so will wait until tuesday evening, also 0 work days this week outside of my clients, and next week also have 0 days.

Been grinding way too little again, but studying is on point, and feel sooooo confident atm. Im trying to be able to focus after 18-19, lately i've been struggling since im often exhausted at that time.

So quick goal for next week is 17.5k hands (2.5k hands daily). Im currently crushing NL16 with a 22bb/100 (sun running some would say, but small sample).

I have no direct strategy for NL25 just yet, and i havn't decided if i want to take the loan, in theory i should always, but in practice im not sure if i love the idea. Lets see at the end of this month! If this week continue to go well at NL16, i should be shottaking NL25 later this week.

Re: Covid-19 costed me everything (big debt) NL2+

Alright so a few things have happened since last time, i've spend quite a bit time with a girl i started seeing about 2 month back, really excited for what the future brings, she is a very amazing person.

Life I've been offered a job, which im currently considering, which would be a full time position as a PT, it pays less than construction work, but it's with alot of freedom, and it will allow me to actually have full hours, and still play poker due to me planning my day as i like it. So i can still do construction work for the bigger projects, the job offer is not ''final'' - As in i've been approved by 2/5 who need to approve me, got a meeting sometime in the next 2 weeks, where im gonna have my last interview. Still not sure if im actually gonna say yes, but im atleast gonna follow though, and hear what they have to offer in the entirety.

Work been nothing, and there is no more work this week either, might be some on Monday 31th (this is a big part, why im considering the job).

Poker:
had things to deal with yesterday, so i didn't get any grind in, and today aswell, that said im free now and the rest of the evening.

Feeling super good about my game, even though we are still in early stages, and keep on building our GTO understanding. Brick by brick, day by day, doing a few solves everyday, and crushing the sims. At a point where with most sims, i ''turbo run'' play vs, and is rarely making any big mistakes, so im feeling quite confident that im for the most part by default somewhat close to GTO, still messing up a bit with how we mix our checkin range with broadways on a few board structures.

I decided to take the loan early june, meaning im gonna get a +$5k roll to play around with. Im 100% a winner at NL25, NL50, and most likely also at NL100, that said im by no means complacent, still putting in way more off table work than table work, and i will continue to do this, for the rest of my poker life. Even at the top, the one who slacks will rapidly not stay there.

BRM Plan:
0 - 1k = NL16 -> NL25 in peak hours
1k - 2.5k = NL25 (from 2k im playing NL50 for peak hours)
2.5k - 3.5k = NL50
3.5k - 6k = NL50 -> Shots at NL100 in peak hours (only while above 3k)
6k - 8k = NL50 + NL100 mixed (mainly NL100 at peak hours).
8k - 10k = NL100 primarily.
10k - 12k = NL100 primarily -> Shots at NL200 from 10k (only while above 8k)
12k - 15k = NL200 primarily
15k - 20k = NL200 primarily -> Shots at NL500 (only while above 12k)

Basicly this is a fine setup i feel, i will rather be a bit conservative since it's a loan, than do a ****tard move and be overly confident, im gonna start out with atleast 5k, hopefully bout 5.5k if this week goes well. Looking forward to grind stakes that can slowly start to make a dent in my debt, and im excited to work even harder for this, atm im at like +20 hours study weekly, we are gonna up that to 25 from june, until game is rock solid. In all honesty, i would actually prefer to be slightly more conservative, but i already feel like a BRM nit XD.

No MTT Rules, since it's not really on my mind atm, im not opening my self up to the added variance.

So still gonna push for the 17.5k hands this week at NL16 (the bigger roll i can build, the more my total roll will be when i toss in the 5k in early june).

Was kinda tilted about hand2note just working like ****, so i ended up using the last of this month's food money, and the reserve i had for PT4. Not too worried, im gonna be fine with what i have in the house for a week. Poker can't / rarely tilts me even the slightest, but software malfunction is like gasoline on a fire, it puts me over the edge in a second.

So since i couldn't figure out how to take my DB with me, we are starting fresh with PT4. Bout to get the grind on, and finish the +17.5k hands this next week, so no graph porn, or anything. Roll sits around $170 (not counting the shot money, since i decided not to deposit them.)
