Goal: To once again become a professional poker player

Challenge: With a $1000 roll I will financially put myself in a spot, where i can return to playing full time after finishing school. (Or soon afterwards)

Background: I am a former live cash pro. I did this for roughly 3 years. After about 2.5 years i became very burned out and unhappy with the unbalanced life i had created for myself. This led to me eventually deciding to quit poker after suffering a 20k downswing for a big % of my roll.

This was a little under 2 years ago. After this i decided to go back to school for an SSW diploma (which I am currently in my last semester for). However, as school nears an end for me i can't kick the feeling that poker is what i need to be doing. There were too many goals of mine I failed to reach because of dumb reasons, and i want a do over.

How i will complete this challenge:
I will be focusing on online mtts to start. Getting back into live cash is certainty something i would like to do. However, With a $1000 roll i figured mtts is what made the most sense for now.
Additionally, I have been very active in DFS/mma betting over the past 6-9months and have been putting in a ton of work on the theory needed to be profitable in that market. due to this i will be playing these games with my roll. I expect this to only be a maximum of 10% of total risked dollars though.

Betting: 1u = 1% of roll (max bet 2u)

While I have just posted this challenge now. This is something I have started a little over a week ago. I have currently played a total of 226 games (A lot of 180m/45m sngs).

I have been spending a lot of time in the lab inbetween sessions as well, working on some glaring preflop leaks being made with a short stack.

Only played 30ish games in the last two days. Down about $10. Looking forward to putting forth a lot of volume this weekend and updating the roll with a big number.

Took Saturday off due to some stuff going on. Came in strong today, playing my first ever session on twitch. Ended up chopping up a $3.30 zoom for $266 to bring in the profit. Ended up peaking with 9 viewers too which was sorta cool.

Roll continues to slowly build.

Since shipping the zoom I have been losing in the big field events but been lowering variance with some decent results in some 45-180man sngs. Find myself getting much better at a lot of preflop 8-20bb spots, and have been working a lot more on low spr post flop spots.

Currently spending a lot of time going of the RYE expert course and really dissecting the information in there. Also trying to do a lot of hand review through PIO. Would like to get HRC again but don't want to spend the money on it while still playing low stakes/micros. As everything else I am using I still have from back when I was playing full time.

Also went 4/5 in bets this week, cashing two small underdogs. Followed that by making a small profit in DFS. Did a lot of tape study this week for the ufc event. With having a week break before the next one, I hope to use the extra time to get more hours in on poker study.

Additionally, my twitch acct is at 13 followers. Don't see this ever becoming a decent size until I significantly move up in stakes. However, I am really enjoying it and adds a little bit more fun into the game for me.

idk if screen shots will make this more interesting. However, sort of just updating these quickly when I have time. Maybe monthly or so will screenshot poker HUD/3rd party tracked bet record, and anything else that seems relevant.

Up and down past 8 days. Started off well by finishing 80th in the Storm and 27th in a hot 11 for $150ish each, then a small micro ship for $200 and change. Ended up having a few bad days though and bombing a bunch of $11 buyins.

This Sunday rolled around though and we managed to take 2nd in a Bubble Rush for $1200.



Feel like I learned a lot in the tournament about how weak my late game was while being the big stack. Also found a lot of leaks in my HU game that I will have to work on. Excited to get in the lab and work on those areas!

Additionally, we hit 32 followers and peaked at 25 views for the tournament. As well as we went 1 for 1 on our mma bets this week, and didn't play in any dfs games.

Pretty bad week for me. Due to injuring my back playing basketball I only put in three sessions this week. 2 small losers, and a 12+hour session on Friday where I got murdered. Had a couple final 3 tables, but was unable to convert. Also took 10th in a $7.50 where I was multi tabling and made a horrendous icm mistake in calling a BvB shove. was a slight fav and lost.

Besides that was actually happy with how I played in a lot of spots tho. Also due to spending 2 days in bed recovering from my back I managed to get through most of the RYE course and review a lot of hands. I also did end up buying HRC and am working with that quite regularly.

Also opted to focus more on studying than tape review so avoided placing any bets or dfs line-ups this week. However, some spots I feel got about for next week.

Also will probably play some cash this week with the introduction of RIO poker. Having some lower stakes cash games with lower rake will incentivize me to start grinding the roll up with a lot more cash assuming decent traffic

It's been 20 days or so since I posted. Volume has been a little weak due to exams. Reading week this week and planning on going hard. Been focusing primarily on cash games, but will probably look to get some more mtt volume in as I get more time.
