wall of text
been reading "The Mental Game of Poker 2" today.
I remembered when I read the "TMGP 1", it made me improve my overall poker game a lot. I had most stuff that I had to do figured out, but I really was failing mostly in other stuff, tilting too much, not applying what I knew correctly, spewing, making bad reads, etc.
I definetly think I improved a ton in that regard after reading the book, tho I never put that much hard work into it tbh. I did use the Model of being aware of my mental leaks, injecting logic, etc, but I never created a Mental Game profile, or worked hard in gathering a lot of data, etc. I stoped working with the book and its excercises when I was satisfied with the improvement I made. And tbh I think that improvement has stuck with me till today. I rarely tilt now, almost never spew or make stupid calls on badreads, and overall Im very solid in playing my game, etc. I havent fixed some issues tho like motivation to play, fear of losing (related to motivation), and well many others to lesser extent too.
I really like the methods for getting "in the Zone", which are quite similar to the ones for fixing Mental Leaks, I think its a solid system that really works, so Im gonna start working with that, and I plan on doing the hard work this time (just by thinking about it, it makes me kinda not want to do it, because its soo much work tbh, but when I realize that Im thinking this I try to breathe and inject logic on it and I realize its a must and its very +EV and I start liking the idea of doing it all over again -so Im applying the book's method to working with the book, and tbh this method can be applied to just about anything-). That means, doing the profiles, doing the warm ups, working in session in realizing mistakes, taking notes about it, and then doing the cool downs and working with this information all over again.
I think the method Im going to use is doing one big warm up when I start playing and then doing mini cooldowns when I stop and mini warm ups when I continue playing. (I usually play 3 to 4 sessions during the day). And doing a big cool down after Im done for the day. While in between taking notes in mid sessions.
I think Im going to use my favourite computer program to do all this, which is the amazinggg NOTEPAD!!
I was thinking of other systems to doing it, like maybe writing on my Kindle tablet, which could make it more organized, -but its gonna take more time and trouble to write-, maybe doing it right here on my thread -but some of the info I probably dont want to share on a public forum-, maybe taking voice notes with the iphone for example -but its gonna be a lot slower to review and go over it-, so yeah I think just two notepad files for the day should do (one for the ingame reviews, containing warm up and cooldown for the day, and one with the profile and updating the profile), and then save them into folders inside a big folder containing all
(if someone is good at this kinda stuff and has a better way, or a good program for tracking stuff like this pls let me know).
So yeaah, its gonna be a good ammount of work, but I know Im already using that time in other useless stuff and its gonna be much better spent doing this. I also want to work more on my mental game, and I think Im gonna do them togheter, the Mental Game fixes and the getting in the zone consistently work, because both are quite similar, or at least have a lot in common, specially in how you work on improving them.
Im gonna do all this because right now, I know my poker game is not perfect, but its quite good imo, and Im really finding it hard to find where to make big improvements. I know a few things which I have to improve, and Im 100% sure there are a lot more, but always pick the lowest hanging fruit in terms of looking what to work on, and definetly I think that improving my mental game even more, and getting into the zone more often are the things which can make my winrate improve the most atm. And also when you fix this things, you start applying a lot better what you already know, or even stuff you were forgeting or letting aside a bit, so its just gonna be an overall improvement not only in the mental aspect, but also in my tactical game.
Its probably one of the biggest things separating big winners to decent regs atm Id say. Of course we have to combine this with keeping an active life physical activy-wise, sleeping as well as we can, having a pro actitude towards the game, ffs we are competing each day, against competent individuals (mostly), we need every edge we can get,.

So yeah, Im going to be working on that, I also have to finish reading TMGP2 and re read a lot of TMGP. And of course grinding. Im going to be sharing some of the work Ima be doing too, Im just going to try to be careful with what Im sharing, as a good ammount of people who I play against read this thread -.-
well. gl guys. I might or might not post something soon related with my warm-up, goals or something. now back to reading some, maybe I'll play a small session too because Im kinda in the mood, but I want to sort how Im going to do all of this first before I start grinding hard, hopefully I can do it today
