Confronting with provocative analogical example - everyday hundreds(thousands?) people are being murdered so if you will kill someone today for fun, it doesn't make any difference as of it doesn't count right?
Obviously his actions doesn't matter on global scale but if you want to help in something you just do it, not looking whether it will save the world tomorrow or not. Other plain example - segregating trash. Me doing that will not solve pollution problem and doesn't matter nothing on global scale but I'm doing this because it's right thing to do (for me).
Your examples of food / hunger are also detached from reality, you don't know what you're speaking about. Pardon my irritation but damn people are ignorant these days.
