Today went well in terms of poker got in an hour of playing a few 200nl tables. Seems like the same bunch of nitregs from 100nl play there too and a bunch of 400nl regs too. Pretty good day over all, i think my best $$ wise since starting thread. Annoying part was half way during the day some relatives turned up un-announced since they were in the area and had to listen to their problems for a couple hours. It always amazes me how so many little things can tilt people irl, i think poker really numbes out the little things and teaches you to problem solve if anything does come up.

Few hours grind + 2h study. Tomorrow is scheduled as a rest day, might put in an hour of study and get back on it Tuesday.

I agree with this a lot, but be careful as to how it impacts your relationships.

I became very numb when I played for a living several years ago, it made things really difficult with the wife for a bit.

P.S. Keep crushing and GL at 200NL!

I try to just point out how its irrelevant to tilt about the certain thing, but it doesnt always work especially with stubborn people or women haha. I will def keep that in mind when dealing with girls. Thanks!

Had a full day off any poker related material/grinding. Saw some family, paid some bills and went on a date with a chic who seemed pretty cool, especially with poker and had a deep interest in blockchain

Back on the grind/study tomorrow. gl

Poker allows us to compartmentalize and truly learn how to ignore the things that are beyond our control (results) and focus on what we can control (our own actions).

This can numb you deeply to things around you and may have a long lasting impact whether that's for the positive or the negative, who's to judge. All I'll share is that when my cousin died a few months ago (O.D.) I wasn't all torn up inside as I evaluated and realized it was beyond my control, I just felt pity for the family he left behind. This can also be a major detriment to many personal relationships as 95% or more of the population has emotions and wants to express them and have you empathize. Empathy can be a great thing but can become difficult over time if you become too numb and out of touch with your emotions due to shutting them off 6-8 hours a day while you grind. It's very easy to forget to flip them back on when you get off the table.

Enough about that. Hope you enjoyed your day off and will be following!

Interesting perspective man, I think a stronger part of my game is meta/understanding player types so in a way im trying not to numb out in that way(emotional intelligence/intiution). Thats quite an important issue your example, I find the little things that people moan about annoying, when they can take ownership and fix/change it.

Slowly adjusting to 200nl, played my A game today and there was quite a few good recs around just couldnt pick up hands vs them.

Second part of the day chilled with girl i went on a date with was pretty good to unwind from the poker things. Going to put in some additional volume over the next three days, hopefully at peak times.

it's a mix of running hot and good approach to the game IMO. OP is making very smart +EV moves like focusing on getting better, playing vs fish and low amount of tables. In today's games it's the right approach, rake is nonexistent, so the focus of most poker players should be to play +EV sessions rather than high volume with low bb/100 without time to think about spots.
