Hi 2+2,

Going to give this a try after a couple of years of viewing other posters PGC'S.
Please bear with me as i am ******ed using computers so may take time uploading graphs etc.

Abit about me

Im 30 years old and work full time and live with my fiancee and pet dog. I dont intend for this to be a Nl2 to battling Linus type of thread as them titles want to make me vomit allover my monitor. Im realistic and of average intelligence so know i have more chance of binking the euromillions. What i do want this to be is to keep track and share my future goals in poker and in life in general so i have something to keep me motivated.

This might turn into abit of 'this is your life' type of post for my first PGC but thought id give abit of background how my life has panned out so far.
I was very gifted when i was younger at football spending the ages of 8-19 in a football academy unfortunately not quite making the grade for a pro contract when i turned 19 for various reasons despite playing in the reserve (2nd) side whilst still at school. After that bounced around unsuccessfully trying to find a lower league side at the same time working ****ty jobs.

Fastforward 10 years and i have a decent enough job which i am very happy with but just want to grind some pokerz on the side as a challenge to build a roll so i can use for real life stuff in the future.

Just started playing again after best part of 12 months of not playing due to buying my 1st house and withdrawing it to help with parts of that.

Deposited a roll to start at 10nl and im going to start trying to beat this stake. Played around 9k hands and winning at a small rate over this sample.

Was going to post my graph but since im useless on computers i cant figure out how to do it yet. I cant even work out how to give myself a avatar FFS.
Will work it out then post giraffes, threadsavers and HH's hopefully get some feedback off some crushers if they can be arsed to read this pile of s**t lol.

Anyways the overall goal for this thread is like i said, not to pretend that im going to be a highstakes crusher and quit my job etc.
My aim for it is to beat microstakes and try and get to a level where its not like zynga poker and hopefully have a few quid to show for it to put towards my wedding in 2 years time, or spend it on my house, or to use as a degen roll for my stag do in vegas in 2 years time.

90% chance it will get degened in vegas if i am successful (doubtful) tbh.

Poker goals for May

[ ] Play 10k hands a week
[ ] Keep tilt to a minimum whilst playing
[ ] Do at least 3 2 hour study sessions a week
[ ] Buy the grinders manual.

Life goals for May

[ ] Eat better . Ive turned into a fat b*****d last couple of years
[ ] Get down to local boxing gym to train at least 3 times a week due to above reason.
[ ] complete 3 runs min of 3mile a week again due to been a fat b*****d.
[ ] work out how to post pics of giraffes, threadsavers and myself a avatar.

That should do it for a start , hopefully get the last box for life goals ticked off at some point in the next couple of days so i can tantalize you all with my mediocre small sample win rate at 10nl

Thats my graph at 10nlz so far , ive just bought the grinders manual and must say im very impressed with what ive read so far. However i think its best if i switch to reg tables to build up samples on my HUD quicker as its geared towards playing an exploitative style. I wont get as much volume but i think my win rate will be better and learn how to exploit villians better.

Im going to go edit my HUD aswell as i literally just use it to record hands and look at VPIP/PFR/3BET at the minute.


High variance line and knew what type of range i was getting it in against. I just hoped that sometimes he check raised folds like 99 TT JJ QQ or gets in worse flush draws at some frequency.






Not loving life on the turn once he donks given flop lines by all villians.




Not sure what to make of this tbh.






Felt like an expolitive fold at time and was ok with it, after reviewing think its a pretty terrible fold tbh.



No running or training at gym done. So still a fat bastards.

Played a sesh last night swapped from 10nlz to regular tables. Ran really well. Reg tables felt way fishier than the zoom pool. Saw more villains overplaying marginal hands and losing stacks.

Volume i don't think is going to be close to achievable with regular tables. Not working my full time job which is at the min 6days a week.

Quick update...

Put in 2 sessions scince last update one really short one and a decentish one, might put another one in later. Going to do some studying aswell today. Think its going to be too much to do 10k hands at reg tables. Think 5k hands a week is more realistic tbh.

Going to get back on the gym grind 2moro see if i can hit the 3x for the gym this week. My footie season has finished for the sunday league team so should have plenty more time for gym and pokerz.

Going to try and post a graph from last few sessions , if it doesn't work can someone give me some pointers as its starting to tilt me.

Villian was a mega whale. The type that was calling 3bets with 25o etc. Not really a maniac post but just playing anytwo and overvaluing 2nd pair and stuff like that. Really unsure what to do. should probably bet flop






Think i should probably call turn instead of jamming let villian keep bluffing.

Played a couple of sessions. Ive been mega busy this week with my fiancees bday and best mates stag do . Managed to get in a couple of poker sessions and hit the gym twice aswell.

Working my way through 'the grinders manual' but really think i should stick to concentrating on each of the concepts and applying them rather what i have been doing which is just reading through and having little bits stick. So thats going to be a new goal for next couple of week. Im 3/4 way through so might just finish it off then start again at the beginning and really work on making sure it all sticks before moving onto a new concept.

Absolutley atrocious from me. Villian was a 88/1 fish who was not folding post on flop and turns. Floating like T7o on stuff like Q42r flops. Reallys should just be exploiting this and bombing away.

Been abit since i updated this , had a lot going on irl including my missus birthday , best mates wedding and second stag do which i was best man for , so didn't get alot of volume in at the back end of last week .

Played a session last night and was spewing really hard trying to make my red line better , when i do this i just turn into some aggro fish. Im sure the red line will get better as i get better at poker and work on my game more . Some of The spew IS embarrassing tbh so im going to post them in here so i can show whoever is reading this thread and IT might make me think twice in future when i start mashing buttons.

What i will say is i felt some tilt coming on because i was getting smashed allover the tables and was going to quit which would have been wise. I did the second +ev thing , took a deep breathe , took a minute and carried on but stopped trying to play a spew monkey style and just play solid. I was stuck like 2 buy ins largely from spew and managed to grind my way back to up 2 buy ins UP so quite pleased about that. I could have easily just tried to constantly force the issue in unnecessary spots and busted a huge chunk of my BR.

Spew no1 against reg. I just thank him for check raising turn and letting me off the hook because i was just going to blast it in on the river ...

I think this is the least spew of the lot against reg fish . Still awful considering his min raise screamed nuts. Managed to get the tank on the river but not sure if he was tank folding or tank jamming lol

When im playing my a game i dont think i bet turn i think i check call here and decide on rivers. Pretty bad turn because the hand i can go 3 streets against now just turned 2 pair. Im blinded by the nut draw when i think its makes a better check/call.

Against a 24/12 . Normally its a slam dunk 4bet but villian had not 3bet once in 165 hands. We are nearly 200bb effective and it sucks if we get 5bet. Think this is fine scince we will have position on him post flop. Thought we were chopping river just, absolute donation on the river








This i think could go either way preflop. I could fold but villian was fairly tight so i new i had a decent chance of stacking him 120bb effective if i hit. Probs better to just fold vs reg whos going to be looser there.









Poker studying wise ive just been working my way through grinders manual , however i was reading it straight through without taking notes and trying to implement the stuff ive read in my game. However i went back to the start and started taking notes going through my hand history to see where im not implementing the things im learning in the book . So all good on that front.

Got 2 gym sessions in this week, needed it after going full throttle at my mates wedding. Try and get down tommorow aswell for my 3rd of the week before i take my missus to Dublin on Sunday for a couple of nights. Going to try and get plenty of volume in before then.

A little update....

Been having trouble with my account so I havnt been able to update. Ive moved to 16nl for now as I had been winning at 10nl over 17k hands and had the roll to shot take. I don't see that much difference tbh probably better regs at 10nl from what ive witnessed so far.

Vs seemingly passive postflop reg , one of those where I would love to see hands. Think he has to be turning pairs into bluffs . Don't think he ever shoves worse for value so really bluff catching and it was a villain and population explo fold . Would love to know results lol.

Im going to stick with 16nl for now lets see how it goes. Feel fairly good in my game and its defo the best ive ever played cant help but feel its the study ive been putting in lately. Feel at least like I can compete at the stakes im currently playing but there is so much I wanna learn and work in with certain spots .

Currently working on mycbet strategy. Really looking forward to working on 3bet pots because this is where I feel im unsure in certain spots. For sure a leak is I fold too much to 3bets but its something I will have a look into.

Volume has been poor this week so far. Its hard working a full time job, going to the gym and trying to make some room for poker. Im going to try and get tons of volume in this weekend.

Looking forward to tonight because im going to watch the England v Costa Rica friendly, and ive never seen England play live.

Played a couple of sessions of 16nl and played relatively well for where my ability is at at the minute apart from the last session where i probably played the poorest ive played since i started this thread.

I was abit pissed off with myself after because i had been playing well and last session felt like abit of a step backwards with a couple of hands of spew added into the mix.

Following are against 61/3 fish who was really frustrating. I was constanty isolating him and just couldn't make a decent hand.















That turn min check raise from him is just strength.





Probably not best to start firing multiple barrels vs him either.

Decent week feel like ive played quite well. Still tons of stuff i want to and need to work on so know i will improve aswell whilst i have this hunger to learn and get better. Im confident i can beat 16nl just as long as i keep the right mind frame and don't start tilting. Just had a pretty tilty session so decided to quit despite been down than less than a buy in.

I seem to get alot of preflop set ups against me but that might just be a mental thing.

results for this week very poor volume was going to play a good session today but felt abit of tilt so quit. Might get back after it later on.

Little update...

Running really well at 16nl at the min. Hopefully im playing aswell i think, and 100% my game has improved.

The games are abit hit and miss , one session its insane and full of fish who are just donating , then other times full of regs some what seem decent some not so much.

I need to work and and study in spots where i can find thinner value in like the following think this should be a slam dunk easy value bet on river and i need to start maximising EV against fish by find these thinner value bets.






Also need to work on being aware of what my range is v regs and what there range is and what i should be doing with it in spots, not bothered about fish because i should be completely unbalanced and exploitative.


Managed to get a gym session in tonight aswell as some poker. Got my arse completely handed to me at the boxing gym doing some sparring so ill be waking up with a nice shiner in the morning.

Small update...

Pokerwise had 1st losing session in quite a few sessions. Just kept running into the nuts everytime with strong hands . Not sure if theres anything i could have done about any of them. Still loss less than 2 buy ins so happy about that.

Things had been going really well for 10k hands at 16nl , of course i know this is meaningless and i might not even be a winner at that stake but my bankroll was at a point where i felt i could shot take at 25nl.

So like an idiot i decided to play 2 zoom and 2 reg tables where as at 16nl i normally play 3 reg tables lol. Got to a point where i couldnt even remeber the action on on of the zoom tables where i had TT on a 855 board and checkraised villian. Turned out bad and got stacked.

Things went really bad and i was down 4buy ins after 450 hands. Managed to grind it back though all the way back to break even and at the end was just playing 2 zoom tables which i was comfortable with so this may be they way to go in the future.

Not sure wether to go for 25nl again when i next play. i have like 23 buy ins for that stake.
