Leafs do suck but it's first year since the good old days, for me Gilmour and Clark that I have had sonething to look forward to. I still can't get over sens run last year that was absurd.

Definitely move out here if you can. If you do let me know and can meet up. Really don't have many people's in this world. I'm already getting noticed by the regs and being friendly but most are a few years older than me.

I played thurs fri and sat this week. All much shorter sessions than I anticipated but noticed I was getting a little exhausted each night. Much more flexibility in getting up to leave now so close. Before if I didn't make leave before 12 it would cost me 55 bucks cab fare to get home so always factored that into making sessions worth while.

I don't even know if I want to post results they are even more crazy than before. Based on llsnl win rates thread there is no reason to believe me but I can't make this up.

I still think it's a combination of heater and getting amazing value on made hands and doing good job with pot control.

Tomorrow I'll likely just relax and work a bit. Monday mountains but so probably back at it next Thursday.

One of best highlights of new place is a view of essentially all the downtown attractions.

Saddledome where flames play - the casino I play at is right next door.

Bow River

Bow tower and Calgary tower.

That is essentially all there is to downtown. No view of mountains but this does suffice.

So I have played a session every day since last Wednesday. Wednesday through Saturday went beautifully. For the majority of the time, everything went my way. My sessions were extremely short as a result, I do not think I have ever played for a Friday night for 3 hours only, but I was exhausted from the move and found myself yawning too much for my liking at the tables.

Sunday came a long and looked like everything was going to ****. From Sunday to Monday (until it turned around), I lost 5 pots of around $600 to $750 total, on the turn, with 70-75% equity in hand. Lost every one. I lost one pot worth $770 on the flop with a 50% equity. I lost an $890 pot, 3 way, with 60% equity against 2 and lost. I did not win any other pots of this magnitude during this period of time.

I lost $950 on Sunday before calling it a night, and was in for $800 and sitting on $180 before things started to turn around for me. Since keeping track of sessions, this was definitely my first true sign of adversity. I found at times on Sunday i was not on my game as the cards were not going my way. I allowed too many pots to get bloated before seeing the river, this is something I am usually very good at controlling.

Monday started to look the same, I took a 5 minute prep talk to myself, ordered some food and started playing my game again. This is where I was at shortly before cashing out.

Overall, I was happy with these 6 days and how I was able to control my emotions. I have in the past just started to playing extremely poorly to try and chase loses.

Here is summary of sessions for the last week. Overall, cannot complain one bit.

Summary of stats. In last post, I said I did not even want to bother. I was running at $104 per hour over 41. I know these numbers are still abnormally high but I will take it while they last.

Took an afternoon trip to Canmore on Monday, had some food and drinks, probably one of the best burgers I have had in awhile. BBQ pulled chicken. I did not want to look like a tourist so only took some quick photos in the back seat heading in. Crazy to think just an hour away.

Next weekend is start of that live tournament series. I am going to play in event won for sure, a $550 deepstack with $100K guarantee. I am hoping there is a good turn out. Going to re evaluate how feeling the following weekend about playing in the $1,500 main event.

I am sure in the meantime since so close to casino I will have a few short sessions throughout the week leading up to the event.

Def going to be following this, I spent a year in Calgary living walking distance from Cowboys. 100+ casinos played in later, it remains my personal favorite poker room. Awesome staff, player friendly rake, the best games, 4am pizza, etc.

Need to make a trip back there soon.

I recently join 2+2 and am super pumped I found a thread about poker at cowboys! I currently live in Banff, and have used Cowboys, almost exclusively, as my home poker room. Being 1.5 hours away and having so much to do in Banff, I have kept most of my sessions to thursdays, fridays, or saturdays when it`s busy. I`m moving to Calgary at the end of the month and hope to play much more frequently!

I'll take some pics of the inside next day or two, swamped at work. There isn't much there and it's a little depressing how much I'm paying for what I'm getting. It's nice just small and not a fan of paying rent and losing out on any roi like you would if owned. One more year and I'll change that.

I plan on playing 1c of the first event on Saturday. May come down Friday night if cowboys is slow. Last week with long weekend was really quiet.

Had a 4 hour session last night.

As usual, not as good as it looks, booked a $450 profit, bought in for $600. Kind of annoyed games were getting good but had to leave. Technically have today off but duty calls so going in for 7 this morning hoping to get done by early afternoon. Plan do to another 4-5 hours tonight. Tournament starts tomorrow at noon, and pretty pumped.

Inside pics of the condo. Pics makes the condo look even smaller than it is. It is small, 950 square feet, 2 beds 2 bath, but enough for me. All I really care about is own bath and a place to sleep.

I bought this steamer for my clothes, so tilting. Set it all up, which for me, is a task, and the thing that holds the hanger for your clothes does not fit. This weekend I will be making a stop at your trusted Wal Mart, opening up one of those bad boys and switching the malfunctioned piece and hoping for the best. I look like such a sped otherwise.

If you still have your car Grey Eagle has a few tourney series every year. The end of Nov they have the WPT Deepstacks championship series and Edmonton has a similar series in Oct. You should def look into the Calgary one, the prizepool is guaranteed $500k for the main event.

But Cowboys is def the best place for 1/2 as far as I know, although I hear Deerfoot has some decent games, I've only made that drive for their big MTTs. Work has been hard to come by the last couple months so I'm going to try and satty into the 200k, so maybe I will see you there.

If you want to turn your brain off, you can always go across the street and play limit at Elbow too.

I still own a place back home with my ex. Will continue to pay half of housing costs until mortgage up for renewal in about a year. Pretty much starting from fresh so definitely not buying. I live with and rent off of the landlord. Works out for both, all the furniture except for the bed is his.

Should probably change goal to save poker money for down payment for new place but that would not be much fun.

Yeah I was planning on going to Edmonton for that series and play in the championships in December in Calgary. Buy in for that I think is $2,500 so might have to figure out if worth my while when the time comes.

I hear Deerfoot has better games on say a Tuesday afternoon, have not played there much, maybe two times and was not very busy either time. Thursdays through Saturday at cowboys are always good although last few weekends have been quiet, do not know if it is because of the weather or what.

I heard the 4 8 kill game at elbow is insane. Definitely bingo poker I hear there and just a big gamble but I am sure I will eventully try it out for ****s and giggles.

Played the $550 tourny on Saturday. Was not happy with my play at all, only lasted to shortly after first break. I knew I needed to adjust from my live cash game strategy but still could not get things going. I did have a lot of decent starting hands just never hit the board and started to get a little impatient.

Ended up just going straight to cash games, started at Deerfoot and headed to cowboys. Ran and played horribly. At cowboys I had a $1,200 stack and should have left when table broke - this was after playing about 12 hours of poker that day, but proceeded to lose it all over the next 3 hours.

Worst part was last hand with AA, where I knew someone flopped set, called it out, still called. I ran out immediately knowing I needed to stop. Down $900 from cash, $550 from the tourny. Reality starting to kick in a bit.

Thursday will mark my 4 week anniversary of keeping track and starting this thread. I will post updated cash game report numbers there.

My life goals are also not going as planned but this week makes beginning of fresh start and plan to meet those goals from now on.

Hey man very cool thread. I'm going to be heading out west on my poker journey next month and will be in Calgary the last week of September and a lot of time in Edmonton. Hopefully I can see you on the tables keep it up.
