Brief background: 35yo semi-pro cash game player since 2008. Went busto several times throughout the years, mainly due to unnecessary expenses and degen sports betting. More or less accurate. Built up a $500 roll (one max buy-in at Wynn 1/3) from driving Lyft. The money isn't great but the stories are priceless. The last ride I gave was on 2/9. I've been relatively responsible with my roll since, only playing 2/5 with at least three 1.5k buy-ins. Still a bit risky but have played with less before, many times unfortunately. Currently at just over 8k. Veganism has cut lots of "expenses" like $100 dinners and $200 shoes, and it's now easier to play eight hour sessions without fatigue. Planning to play 5/10 once I reach 10k (2k buy-in) and move back to 2/5 if the roll drops below that. Current Wynn/Encore stats as of 5/15:

1/3NL: $21.35/h (2371h)
2/5NL: $38.55/h (2639h)
5/10NL: $67.17/h (348h)
10/20+NL: -$8760 (the most miserable 62h ever)

I plan on staying at my home base throughout WSOP. I haven't played anywhere else this year, though might break that streak at Rio or anywhere else that normally doesn't run 2/5+. I realize I need to work on my 5/10 wr and figure now is the perfect time to do so. I'm aiming for 54k in year-to-date earnings by July 17, which hopefully is the result after playing 100hrs/wk during the Series. No tournies! Another priority is getting unstuck at the higher limit games, which I will attempt again when I reach 20k. Will keep this updated regularly, starting 5/30. It will be primarily about poker action but I may throw in a story every now and then.

So it's been just over a week and had a rough start earlier on. -500 first day and -1522 over just a 3h 2/5 session, though can't complain as those were the only losing days. Only played 38 hours that first week so definitely need to get more motivated as well as manage my time better. I did notice I'm a lot more sluggish/tired at the table after eating super starchy meals (pizza, etc.) whereas I normally play 8+ hours with no fatigue. That can be improved on as well.

Running well at Wynn 1/3 and 2/5 and just started playing 5/t. I consider myself somewhat introverted (conversating when appropriate), though it seems as though half of these kids are extremely anti-social and/or doped up on Ritalin. I wouldn't want to hang around this bunch if I was a rec player. So bad for the game, but it is what it is. May venture into Rio or elsewhere.

Updated goal: I have a couple of prop bets going to keep me motivated and moving up as fast as possible. +$50k at +200 and +$65k at +400. Earnings from 5/30-7/20.

Lot of breaking even for awhile but finally made some progress since the last post. Golden Nugget had a great structure going on in their 2/5 game: $5/down + $1 every pot for the promo drop; $500 min buy-in to no max (1/2 was also interesting w/ no cap). Cash plays brought back lot of good memories from the old Wynn 5/t games.

Quick update: it's halfway through the WSOP/goal, and so far so good. The bankroll is almost enough to start playing t/25, where the real challenge begins.

I finally caved into paying for parking at the Bellagio for the first time yesterday; something I thought I'd never do. The 5/t seemed super soft though, compared to the Wynn. Might stop by more often, and try the t/20 before jumping into t/25. I'll be happy if I'm regularly playing these stakes by the end of June.

This is some seriously aggressive bankroll management! Playing 5/T at under 20K? Jeeze.

I was in Vegas a couple of weeks ago and was on the list for the Wynn 2/5nl. A pro friend of mine sat in the 5/T while I was there and after 45 minutes determined the lineup was almost unbeatable. Was literally 7 pro's and one average reg. Definitely be careful with your game selection there.

I played the 5-10 several days between June 16 and 25 so we might have played in the same game. I only played the day shift (about noon til 9pm or so.

Do you basically play the day shift or night shift at Encore?

7 pros at the table is usually the case, especially throughout the rest of the year. I rarely game select and am used to sitting in super tough games. Of course the primary goal is to profit, but it's also mentally satisfying to challenge myself in the process. There's only a handful of super solid regs that I'd rather avoid (though only a couple are still around after 9 years). If the only seat open is to their right, that's pretty much the only scenario that I'd pass on a game. Some regs do go on tilt and are extremely exploitable, which is pretty much the same as a contributing rec player; that's when I normally put in my marathon sessions.

It's possible. I only played a few short sessions during that time frame totaling 12 hours. I'm really random on my hours, sessions from 4pm-4am. Games were definitely hit or miss.

It was interesting - the best games with the most money on the table seemed to be the day shift - got more grinder-full as the evening went along. Might just have been due to Senior Tourney week. But I never tried the late night games so can't compare.
