Sup everyone, the title basically explains it, I started playing cards in August of last year through June of 2015, and took a break until mid-September to work an internship, and am now attacking the game with a renewed focus. I would approximate that to this point, I'm up about $25k at cards but spent a lot on travel and a car. I do want to take a shot at going pro for at least a few years. I binked a solid 175 score on the LSAT, so that's the backup plan. But I'm pretty obsessed with this game and can't really see myself loving doing something for the majority of my waking hours other than poker. I'm currently a Junior in college and will be graduating at the beginning or end of next fall, so I really want to have $50,200 then, the base price of a BMW 5 series, which seems like a reasonable arbitrary metric.
My current BR is 2200 online and have about 6-7k behind that I use to play live. I'm more or less fully covered by scholarships for life expenses so I can be a little more ambitious financially.
I only managed to deposit $150 back onto Bovada and here are my stats since getting PT4 and the converter back in action. Not pictured: earliest NL play, PLO losses, tournament wins. I'm probably down like 5k at PLO lifetime and am vowing to never play it again until I have a very large roll and time to devote to properly approaching it. I think I'm decent at the game, but have just run like **** over a small sample, especially live. I'd say my main strengths are just generally being somewhat sharp and creative, while my weaknesses are my ADHD/spaz attributes. PLO's math-and-smash aspects are boring IMO and don't play to my verbal-thinking orientation.
That's 50nl zoom-runbad-100nl zoom-runbad-100nl zoom-200nl reg (zoom barely runs at 200 on bovada)
Also I'm clearly wavering between playing TAG/LAG more and given that you can see old hole cards on Bovada, I'll come to a conclusion upon more HH reviews, but regs do seem to make some bizzare folds and slowplay preflop a lot. My current default is 3x and 2x button running about 28-21-9.
I'm currently shottaking the 200nl, even though I'm fairly rolled for it overall, it's a bit cumbersome to get more ammo online. I'm pretty confident in my ability to beat these games, the regs are really ABC and there are plenty of fun players especially at prime hours. I've watched at least 50% of the last two years of RIO NL videos. I'm also considering coaching once I get a decent hand sample @ 200nl.
I'd like to see myself get in 20/hrs per week online, 10 hours of study, and another 20 hours of discretionary time between live and online, whatever I can get motivated for. Live play will be exclusively shots at 2-5 (deep) game. If I lose more than a few BI I'll just go back online only, but it's an incredibly soft game, all but one reg is terrible.
Will be posting updates/HH/beats/thoughts/short term goals here. Anybody in comparable stakes or situations that want to collab is welcome to PM me a skype handle.
